It's now 41 years since we were kicked off the G. This thread has now seen Covid in and off, watched as a President departed, another almost serve out his term only to be replaced by his vice, before the predecessor was then resurrected. 4+ years of the Ukraine war, multiple Middle east conflicts, skirmishes and now another war. Witnessed a drought breaking Flag. Seen many premiership players, Coach, President (who was meant to bring skills that would assist in landing said new training ground / home) and the CEO depart. The way things are going (or not going!) i may not last long enough to see the question mark on this thread removed.

I think many around him lifted and walked a little taller when him and Rick teamed up at their best from 2021 and at least parts of 2022 and 23. The effect of that during this period, the driving of standards. 2021 might not have been if not for this desire to push through to greater heights. A player you could completely trust against any opponent on any day during his peak. Yes how is it that Merrett wants out, plenty of rumours about issues surrounding him and club. Yet according to AFL media the Bumbers are standing firm on not letting him go. Unless there's the 'trade o' the century' offer put forward by the Hawks. Yet, according to AFL media, we are seemingly willing to throw Tracc at GC and take a second rate deal with no player coming back. Is this a true reflection of how far we've fallen as a club i wonder?

One of the commentators on there yesterday said "we should give out the number for ppl who wanna text in as we haven't done that in a few hours" As he's giving out the number he almost gives it all, but just as he' giving the last number or two, this nuff nuff came straight over the top of him and cut him off. Has an opinion about everything and his voice is so grating. I dunno who's worse to listen to, him or radar.

I take this as ...he wants a deal, but GC don't wanna deal and have gone into hiding other than a 'we're concerned about ya mate, what can we do to help?" phone call from Dimma. GC also want to deal with us for Tracc but not inc. BH. BH says to Manager "stuff this i want out im gonna go see what other Vics are offering whether they like it or not". Manager says "i don't think they'll budge but up to you, just keep it under wraps and don't be seen while you're down there as i don't wanna look like a donk when i say you aren't looking around". BH goes to Vic and gets spotted (with us). Manager tries to back out, effectively siding more with GC. BH .... if he has a brain, sacks Manager and apponts someone who's willing to get the deal done (Trump!??). His alternative is to stay with exisiting incompetant manager (for now) and remain unhappy for next 12 mths. Question... is it viable to offer Tracc for Pick 7 and BH (ie, drop the second pick)

May has dropped away from his best levels but until now his average levels of output are still (probably) ahead of Aleer's imv. Unless Aleer improves substantially over the pre-season or May falls away badly again in 2026 (if he's on board) i would see that as probably a losing trade for us.

Adams is a WIP RP. He looks good at VFL level but no g'tee he'll be anything other than serviceable at AFL level so far. Of course that could change as he progresses and he may end up better than serviceable but who knows. It's really just Turner at this stage in terms of 'talent bank' that is likely to come on and hold a D spot down on a regular basis at AFL level. Petty is a known quantity down back and was always considered the 3rd stringer tall behind May & Lever, but only when match ups called for the 3rd tall. We still have Lever and May might play on for one more year but i doubt either will ever be back to the levels we once saw in their hay day.

Aside from Turner, which tall (Defensive) talent is that may i ask?

Had some solid games but I reckon he was biding his time somewhat in patches. Looked frustrated / dissinterested in plenty of other matches with patches of this same dissinterest when he was sometimes on and firing. Possibly partially a fitness issue which might explain some of it. Did remind me a little of LJ's 2022 year though. His ego / sensitivity / entitlement level also appears to have grown pretty large since the unfortunate incident. Are we sure we want someone going around whose heart is not truly in it and not fully committed...for a second year running? His general 'i don't wanna be here' vibe also can't be great for team mates moral surely?
