  1. I disagree Brendan one should always err on the side of common sense and select a wringing wet 1 gamer over an experienced utility who was slowly hitting some decent form and played significant roles in earlier wins after a long stint out of the game. Especially when a chance to play finals is on the line!
  2. We've been saying that every year since 1964
  3. CHB? Frost forward for a while
  4. Agreed .... Playing a baby to win a crucial game of footy. The youth at all costs policy should be renamed "Youth at a massive cost" Well done FD Lost at the selection table and above the shoulders
  5. There's a bye before the finals which would freshen everyone up. No fatigue Issues. If you make finals you dont go in thinking you're just going in making up the numbers. Any finals experience is better than none. Take it and use the taste for it to go harder and deeper In 2017.
  6. The range should be 8 to 10 plus regardless more than likely CBD. Aside from Harmes and Hulk's recent form, my main concern was Mr Vince who I really think was in much need of a week off to re-charge the batteries for the Cats game and a potential finals campaign afterwards. Has been serviceable but nowhere near the form he was in during the most part of the season. Was really hoping the FD would manage him this week. Ideal opportunity missed.
  7. Agreed he has been in excellent form at Casey Samael. No argument from me there
  8. Not at all, just don't play them at this point so late in a season with such a (potentially) critical match looming against the Cats. Ben Ken & Grimes have at least shown they can perform at AFL level albeit not stellar performers. Although having said that Grimes first up game was completely off the charts stats wise. Flopped a little the week after along with most others..out lol. Michie & ANB are too big a risk at this point and do nicely at VFL level but that's where their limitations lie right at this moment (ANB a potential AFL option next year if he can take it to another level). If they underwhelm and need changing out for the Cats match you have then also not given Grimes/ Ben Ken (if Jeffy doesn't get up for the Cats) a chance to adjust to the step up to AFL level. They'll be coming in cold. Not that the FD would ever pick Grimes I realise. By selecting Michie over Grimes (the worst selection table choice for quite some time IMO) Roos/Goodwin/ FD have obviously signed his papers. Grimes is easily our best "AFL ready" option at VFL level right at this moment who has proven he can play a role consistently vs others of a similar ilk playing at Casey. Next year might be different but we don't have "next year". We have two matches and need to win both of them very convincingly on the scoreboard to have a chance of playing finals (assuming the other games fall our way obviously).
  9. Would also have had Ben Ken before ANB as the Jeffy replacement. Grimes before Michie. Michie tried and tested a number of times at AFL level and flopped every time so far. Would have gone Ben Ken (Garlett inj.), Grimes for Vince (rested for next week's potential big one and maybe finals) and left Pedo (unless a rest was required as per Vince, in that case yes bring in the Weid). Harmes had a poor game and a rest was maybe required so ANB at a pinch but would need a very solid game to hold his spot for the following week. Even if Michie and/or ANB play ok we have no real way of knowing what sort of form they are truly in, unless they have a blinder, given the poor quality opponent this week (9 losses in a row now). Pretty poor selections IMO and a real slap in the face to poor old Grimes (Michie!!......really!!)
  10. If that was Nasher's basis then i hope he also called for the heads of Hogan and Frost who also had Zero tackles
  11. Saty this is either one amazing piece of coincidence, you trolled through the last 5 pages, or that was about the only assist/impact Hogan had last weekend! Footywire says ZERO goal assists. I prefer to trust my eyes but would need to troll through the replay to confirm. Maybe Champion has a separate stat for "1%er goal assists" or something
  12. Or maybe resting the Ped for the big game the week after and potential finals action?
  13. All good mate. If there was a game he's going to find some form in it's surely this week against the lowley Blue baggers. Thr naming of Weids is a clever one by the FD IMO and shld work in putting Hulk and Weids on notice that solid efforts and decent performance will be rewarded. List is being beautifully managed of late
  14. He might become a gun agreed Bin , but he isnt there just yet. I never said anywhere in any post that he should be dropped this week. We already have enough Satys mis quoting or twisting ppls comments and views around Bin
  15. Garlett the only one i can see there if injured. Otherwisd no changes Nah
  16. Pedo can crash packs for about half the price binman. One event does not maketh a forward. He isnt hitting/crashing packs the way he was last season or earlier this season mate. He looks a diff player at the moment. Probably a lock this week but he has much work to do over summer if he wants to take the next step
  17. I would not be in a hurry to sign him until or unless he fixes that kicking action. He is only as valuable as his accuracy at goal from 50 and less. Having said that, if he does fix it you would want to have the ink jar and piggy bank very handy
  18. He hasnt brought ball to ground or created opportunities for other players on a reg basis for a quite a while now Saty nor is he very accurate of late. Goes the accuracy goes the General form. Just ask Cloke.
  19. Has to work on that kicking action over summer though Adam. If he doesnt then the Op will not necessarily double team or put their best on him for much longer.
  20. Watts went to Casey for a few games at one point recently. Not a big deal. Was just a part of his learning curve and development along the journey. Success will come to those who are determined and can adjust/work on their shortcomimgs while pushing their strengths even harder. If the FD are considering Weids for Hogan it would need to be this week as there's no way you would want him coming in cold for a big match against The Cats at Skilled if it ends up being the block buster we all hope for. Hogan might be able to adjust and be swung in for Weids in the final round against the Cats (if Nth lose and needed) but not the other way IMO
  21. It's a typical Melbourne day. Most livable city I hear some of you say!? It all started off looking so bright. The sun shone through distant clouds , twas a heavenly sight. Yet within a few hours the heavens did open. The eddy circling, umbrellas were carried and dogs started mopin'! But there's nothing, nothing, nothing as dark or as doomish than a radio tuned in to good old Neil Mitchell ...AKA Mr. Gloomish!
  22. I would be mortified if we are focusing our attention beyond on this week. The Blues have had a knack of beating us no matter how well we are doing or how badly they're going.
  23. The only time i could imagine that happening would be in my sleep OD
  24. Yep been calling a long time. Passionate but it's always a coin flip as to whether his questions are accurate/relevant. I cringe a little whenever i hear him come on but he's also reasonable entertainment value and pretty much the only reg MFC supporter. Although i seem to recall a Dean from Burwood also on occasions.
