  1. Any chance either of our key forwards could kick a goal between them?? Pruess for T-mac who has not fired a shot all year.
  2. Salem's decision making and disposal so far has been bog ordinary placing team mates under pressure too often. Playing on when he doesn't need to. Must be the head knock? Jeffy is barely a shell of the player he was last season. Sad to watch. Not taking tjat shot from 35 out and instead turning it straight over for a 12 point turnaround said it all. We STILL have no possession game especially kicking out from the Opp's square always looking to play on no matter how bad things are with the receiver we decide to give it to at times. Time to give Gus a spell in the McGoos for C Wags. Disposal is horrid and slow as a wet week. Goody continues to persist with a Fritsch off HB who has failed in this post all year....great coaching! ??????
  3. Can i 3rd that. Looks very promising indeed. Super raw but offers power, a decent turn of speed and side steps nicely also. A few pre-seasons and Bob's your uncle!
  4. JWag taking on the role of Fritschkreig, who goes forward, would be a decent result for mine Trig
  5. Petracca - Composite Weighted Averages, to Rnd 11 2019 vs 2018 While i haven't had the chance to isolate his last 6 weeks, he is way off last year's output this season Chook and is now ranked 5 places lower also. In other words 5 others have gone passed him this season. Pressure is ok inside 50 though as you say. Ranked 4th for tackles inside 50 (averages) out of the regular forwards that play through there, behind Jeffy, ANB and Bull Smith (in that order). The other upside is score involvements where he is ranked equal 4th alongside Clarry at 5 per game. Turnovers are his biggest worry however, ranked 4th highest behind Hibb, Melk & Gus. His kicking efficiency could be slightly better but not horrid...64% to Rnd 11, 66.2% at Rnd 9 (see table below). Has dropped four places in two weeks. Plenty of others behind him though in Clarry, Jones, Gus, Hunt, Harmes, Melk, T-Mac and Jeffy to name a few! My understanding is the AFL average sits at around 68% so not too far away. Out of 35 players this season who have played two or more games he is ranked 17th in DE% sitting on 68.43% to Rnd 11.
  6. You can say that again which is another good reason why Pruess should be getting more game time. At least he might string a series of games together and start gelling with the other forwards.
  7. Dodgy in front of goals. Goody could insert into a semi permanent almost full time role in the mid field but chooses not to. He isn't as bad as that sorry. Not having a great year but has a fair amount of company. See T-mac, Viney and Spargo just to name a few. A little but he has regressed this season WISE. Some scrutiny is bound to follow. That is a very good question Sisso. There are a few options available but goody has chosen to ignore them so far. I agree to a point at least from a Casey perspective. However, if Goody was / is being realistic now that the season is over, it is now time to trial Tracc in a role which leans more towards full time through the mid field IMO. Takes pressure off his kicking inside 50 but allows him to swing away at the big stuff around the arc where he has nothing to lose and just let's it rip without over thinking things. Time for chunk to replace Tracc at HF in an Ablett type role (with some minor time through mid field when Tracc is taking a breather on the bench or when resting forward).
  8. That's the trouble with a constant crash/bash chaos game style Bin. Too much needs to go right for the style to succeed enough of the time to win more often than not and most players can't keep it up at the level needed to succeed for more than about 3 quarters (when fully fit). We lack a possession 'slow play' option that will hold us in good stead when all isn't going to plan (opp is on a roll, we are down a player or two on bench, a few key injuries coming into a match) or when we need to ice a quarter or match which, in the super competitive cauldron that is the AFL, is a fair chunk of the time both within matches and the season itself. The chaos method is impacted even more once you add a few extra injuries above the norm into the mix. Already conducive to high turnover, this aspect (turnovers) is compounded as you bring in less experienced players who aren't very good with disposal to begin with and whose less than ideal tank is spent very quickly under such a grueling / demanding style. Not as much time for a breather either vs teams who are capable of bringing a possession game. It's a disadvantage across so many levels. Goody's current chaos (overwhelm with numbers at the contest) method will only work successfully when most things are working well, a la second half of 2018, with experienced in form players who have a decent tank and can manage to stick it out for about three quarters prior to capitulating through sheer exhaustion. How often do we see our boys give up multiple goals in succession from an opposition without putting up much resistance during large blocks of a match, even when we are doing well (last week another example). Yet we are told we are always working our way back to "the Melbourne brand". Goody's chaos / overwhelm method might hold up tomorrow with a few extra solids coming back and the Pies off their best a little, but I'm not Sold on it being successful most of the time. For as long as Goody continues to ignore that the possession option is a must have if you wish to succeed in today's modern game, i fail to see us pushing to another prelim (let alone a GF), unless we have another goldilocks season or second half like we did in the back half of 2018.
  9. Possibly on Hibbo's shoulders Soi
  10. Superb work there ET
  11. Round 12, 2019 Pies vs Demons (MCG Big Freeze 5) Pure Stats Predictor has the Demons winning by 17 points Team weighted score from last round (including adjustment for Ins/Outs this round) Pies 60.45 Demons 67.92 Top 6 ranked players (composite weighted averages) last round Pies Demons Aggregate: 24.30 29.18 Bottom 6 *Omitted for this match Tip: Use landscape mode if viewing from a mobile phone. Last week's performance was statistically our best 'Team' game for the year and only 3.4% off our 2018 average weighted score (69.53)! Obviously our inaccurate kicking for goal was the difference and the Crows were super accurate (70% conversion is off the charts) but that was it. The Pies appear to be a fair way off their best footy earlier in the year and we are coming into some decent form with some very solid 'Ins'. Spargo and Baker will need to lift on last week's performance if we are to win though IMO. If they put in a similar or worse one then the Pies might get a little closer. I'm not sure where Lockhart is at by i would much prefer to have him in ahead of Spargo who needs a long stint at Casey. The only other thing stopping us at this point is accuracy in front of goals. We at least lowered our vision more often last week. Harmes to Pendles pls...and IF we can improve our accuracy up forward then everything is pointing to a happy ending prior to the bye.
  12. We are so well drilled and skilled at this DJ as well as a very slack zone in our forward half from the opp kick ins allowing them to work their way to about mid field then launch into their 50 with virtually zero pressure time after time. Pressure in forward half (outside of Jeffy at times) non existent. I love the fact that i can boast to my mates that they have nothing on us in certain facets! May our reign as the worst coached side in the AFL (post Bolton's sacking where we were unfortunately only equal worst) plus 'king of turnovers' continue!!
  13. Get on it BBO! One good sesh should do it!
  14. LH it's only my opinion but i don't think his form has dropped this year vs 2018, other than goal kicking accuracy (slightly). I reckon he has improved (marginally) which is quite a good effort in a very poor year from a guy with only a 20 odd games under his belt. Coming off a fairly low base but yeh. General output (composite averages) up 9.7% statistically on 2018, ranked slightly ahead of T-Mac.
  15. The three biggest falls from grace vs 2018 statistically (and percentage wise).... T-Mac's output down 44.6%! Dropping a massive 19 places from 5th last season to be ranked 24th on last year's exact same average weighted composite. That's one rank lower than his brother! Spargo -43.8% and Viney -40.2%! But there's plenty of others that have also had a massive drop off. Aside from T-Mac the biggest disappointments for me have been Tracc not coming on (down 28.6%), Fritsch being played out of position (ie., just not getting the defensive role at all) and Goody continuing to play him there without trying to change things up (eg., give him a look on a wing or up forward for a few weeks to try and find his mojo again) and the massive drop off in touch and form of Gus (-20.9%). Biggest surprise... Marty Hore by a long way presently sitting in 4th (more likely 5th once you add hit outs to advantage to Max's score). Hunt not far behind. Have absolutely loved this come back in a complete change of role. Not easy to do but he's really given us something up forward and been reasonably accurate in a pretty inaccurate forward line with some very ordinary entries much of the time. Output (in this model) up 22.8% and leaping 17 places to 17th after finishing in 34th place in 2018. Then there's Harmes. Bloke has stepped up yet again. A 9.3% increase vs 2018 is something else given the year we've been having. Salem right on his heals as well having a stellar season.
  16. In an interview earlier in the year he said there was no pre-season issues LH and that he was in a form slump and couldn't understand why himself. Personally i'm guessing it might be a combo of now getting the best of the opp's defenders and 666 meaning there is a more one v one focus (back of shoulder / close checking) from the opp's back 6 (and for T-mac it's a double up impact vs the Opp's best defender compared to 2018)
  17. Agreed but we need both.
  18. In general agreement with the OP's theme. T-mac might have been a one year wonder and gone under the radar a little while Hogan was present. Weid has potential but might be another Watts. If you want to win a premiership in a small window that will close in a flash you need to lay down the coin and go hard as you can after the best... Cameron by a country mile!
  19. Average ground ball gets inside 50 to Rnd 9. Tom not even on the radar...Pruess @ 5. Oh, leads our goal kicking averages also. Not bad for an unfit wanna be who can barely play out 3 quarters. Imagine how much better he'll be when he manages 4!
  20. According to the man himself it was/is purely form Super. This should have happened around Rnd 5, after the Saints, when it was clear to all, including Tom himself, that he was right off. Two to three weeks with the extra time (space) and less pressure at Casey would have done wonders IMHO. Less pressure on goal kicking as well to work on that part. Comes back about Rnd 7 to face a decent, but hardly a world beating team in GC, freshened up with a bit more confidence. Hopefully able to maintain that form coming into Rnd 8 against the Eagles. Unintentionally this might have also sent a healthy message to the other seniors that no one is sacred and seen a marginal boost in on field performance (from those who needed to) after the Saints (enough to help win an extra close finish or two).
  21. Pruess for T-mac weeks ago was a no brainer. Might have won us the game up north also. Heads our goal kicking averages while Tommy is down to less than 1 a game. Pruess ranked equal 9th in AFL goal kicking averages alongside Ablett, Franklin, Betts and Fantasia but can't crack a call up. Another Goody fail. What a shitty year this is turning out to be.
  22. My understanding... A tackle is only counted as a tackle if It impacts the play. Ie; stops player who has the ball from an effective kick or handball. If an effective kick or handball (disposal) takes place in the process of being tackled the tackle is not counted and is instead marked down as an 'attempted tackle'* only. *Champion data version
  23. Caveat emptor with any MFC forward stats Bing given the ugly season so far. It's all off a very low base comparatively with player v player. Better to look at how players are performing vs last season and the rest of the comp, barring the others bouncing around the bottom like us.
  24. Yes had they won the two against GCS and the Hawks Bolton might still be coaching Rjay. I thought they weren't far away either. Wonder what Cripps thinks about the latest goings on though. Might be gettable.
