No complaints, but really, joke.

Not at all. I think the large majority of supporters have a lot of time for Bennell, but here are some stats for you.... Bennell is averaging 10 disposals a game. That's 1 less than last year, and 2 less than his debut season. He also averages less than 2 tackles a game, and his stats have all gone down since last year. Just as a comparison, Nicholson, who has been a sub as many times as Bennell this year, is averaging 14 disposals a game, and nearly double the tackles. We cannot keep carrying guys like Bennell in the side, who don't give us much. 10 disposals a game is very poor, when even as a fellow small defender Strauss averages 18 disposals a game, with a lot less experience. There is no doubt he is very quick and can use the ball well, but it doesn't help us when he rarely gets near it, especially when he is also timid around packs, doesn't tackle (and with his speed he should be hunting them down!) and doesn't gut run.

At least you get paid to work on a Saturday and read this delightful forum post-loss. I'm just sitting here waiting for reports to download, but the server is having a meltdown. Must be shitty doing unpaid overtime, like me. Got sucked in badly by this promotion. Why didn't GWS try to poach me? WHY?!

Jack Viney is going to the U18 tribunal this week, charged with rough conduct for a sling tackle on his opponent. Epic. Can we bring him into the team for the Darwin game?

Werribee Tigers v Casey Scorpions
Jaded No More replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Any idea what's wrong with Warnock? How's my boy Tappy doing? -
Absolutely. How dare he make a mistake in his first quarter of AFL footy. I'm sick and tired of these bloody first gamers, with their fancy shoes and their fluro green vests prancing on the ground like they don't know what they are doing, not adapting to the speed, losing their man and generally not winning us matches. It's just an absolute disgrace, and they are to blame for everything that is wrong with our club. Lack of skills? first gamers. Lack of leadership? first gamers. Poor coaching? bloody first gamers. For mine, it's straight to GWS in exchange for pick 98 for young Blease. You tried your best son, gave us one hell of a quarter, but it's time to move on.

Ironic LOL? Edit: Dammit BRFE! B)

Those stats are good. They still don't explain the over use of the ball, or the bad decision making going forward, or indeed the softness and unwillingness to fight out the game. I can accept getting beaten one on one, losing the clearances, being pressured, those are all things that a mature team should do against a young team. But a lack of heart and fight has been a trademark of this club for many years, even when we were full of big bodies. We had everything to play for last night and we packed it in after quarter time. Heads dropped, intensity was nearly non existent and nobody was leading the way except two 19 year olds in Trengove and Watts.
-
Great mark and good work rate last night. But the kid can't kick and makes deplorable decisions. Howe and Cook will eventually push him out of our best 22 if he doesn't get onto those weaknesses.
-
Anybody who heard Jack Grimes on Ch. 10 news yesterday can tell he's got captain written all over him. If he can get through one single season without his body self destructing, he'll be leading us from 2013 onwards. Watts and Trengove need to keep concentrating on developing and destroying their opponents, in sling tackles, or otherwise.
-
I'll raise you having a crap sleep then having to go into the office this morning to finish off work I didn't have time to do yesterday because I had to leave early to go to the game. That is what I call epic fail. I agree with whoever said a while ago that this team gives us nothing. Short lived, soft wins and badly fought-out embarrassing losses.

The Bad This will now turn into a "Scully is leaving us because we suck" thread

The Good For the first time in weeks, the Tom Scully thread is not on the first page of the forum.

I think he's carrying an injury. Either that, or Bailey thought he was going to kick us a bag tonight. Hard to get involved when you're stranded up forward and the ball is going one way only. Dumb decision to release Green up and hold Sylvia back. Just one more thing that we did horribly wrong tonight. Some very very odd match ups and set ups really. And on a slightly different note, since when is Jack Watts to the backline our new giving up tactic? Terrible!
-
Please, we lost nothing by playing him. He did more than Bennell to be honest. Was good to give him a taste and to say he isn't ready is just silly. Who is every truly ready to play their first game, come on as a sub, and then have to play in a team getting smashed? One very small positive out of today is that Blease got a taste and made it through after 2 tough years. Honestly the last thing on my list of problems/worries/complaints.
-
Spot on. Martin was good again too. Petterd worked hard but gees he's a shite decision maker!
-
Loved the bogan behind me crying foul because the umps were robbing her boys of a win. LOL!
-
Cannot keep carrying guys who can't get more than a handful of disposals in an entire match. You're not good to us if you can't actually get the ball, even if you can run and kick. Back to Casey.
-
Just a dumb thing to do. No sympathy if he gets suspended this time around. Should know better now. Great game from him though.
-
Why did we even turn up today? We clearly had no desire to win even though we had everything to play for. And please Bailey learn to coach against a team who pressures the ball carrier, because any idiot can win against soft teams. Absolutely unacceptable rubbish today. Shameful.
-
For fcks sake we are horrible when outside our comfort zone. Woeful.

So they'll pay Scully and Ward a combined $10,000,000 in their first year and Pendelbury $6,000,000 in his first year? Interesting. Stupid. Won't happen. Good luck to them if they are that friggin dumb. Besides, no player wants to get taxed on that sort of yearly salary. The advantages of having your contract spread out more evenly is far greater for players. Btw, we too can, and have front-loaded contracts. We also have Jamar and Davey going onto the Vets list soon.
-
To people who live in Western Sydney and have zero interest in footy, he is just a random kid. His 'brand' has been built as an indecisive kid, not as the sort of person who wants to, or will indeed lead a new club to a premiership. Do you really see him spruiking the brand to the masses? He strikes me as the sort of kid who wants to play footy and not be bothered by all the rubbish that goes with it. I'm not saying he won't be a gun, he will be, he'll probably be in the top 10 players in the competition, but he is not at a stage in his career where he should be, or deserves to be offer that sort of money.
-
Pendelbury is not a moron. You think he'd come across for less than $10mil over 6 years if Scully is being offered $7mil? Besides, GWS will have 95% of their list coming out of contract in 2 years time. I'd say that a good 50% of those will be looking to get the hell out of there. If they want to keep these kids they are drafting they need to balance the spreadsheets a bit better, or they'll be left with Ward, Scully and Pendelbury running the show by themselves.
