  1. I agree with you that player agents shouldn't be media figures and shouldn't be commentating on games. It's a ridiculous conflict of interest, but it has nothing to do with Scully's contract situation and that is the only thing anyone gives a toss about right now.
  2. In 13 years of going to the footy week in week out, I have never in my life been so disgusted by supporters' behaviour... and I've sat in the Port Adelaide cheer squad at AAMI Stadium before during a game where Melbourne won the free- kick count!!! I'm all for loud, passionate, slightly psychotic supporters, but to freely scream out the C word multiple times during games when you are surrounded by little kids, and then abuse a man battling cancer, is not fair game and it is not OK. Absolutely shocking. Probably one rung below racial abuse.
  3. Mate, you offering advise to Lynch on how to handle his clients and their contract situation is laughable. Do you think Lynch is stupid? He would have been prepared for the Scully questions and his answers were definitely pre-prepared. He said what he said because it is either the truth, or he is trying to get a rise out of GWS. Either way, it wasn't him just pissing into the wind and it certainly wasn't derelict. Pickering didn't need to play the Ablett situation because he knew GC were offering him a sick amount of money which Geelong couldn't get near and so he knew there was no point playing both parties. The Ablett situation and the Scully situation are completely different.
  4. It is a weird pleasure of mine to watch a winning game one quarter a night in the week following a match. Quarter 2 is the go tonight. Definitely excited to see that Jordie tackle again. Yes, being a Melbourne supporter sadly consumes far too much of my time. I just spent 20 minutes debating whether or not we are likely to play on Sat night in Round 24 and whether that will ruin my birthday plans (stupid floating draw!!!). So sad.
  5. Well he has said something, so what now?
  6. But Scully isn't Ablett. Pickering couldn't say optimistic because he wasn't. The fact Lynch said that could mean one of two things; he is either been told by Scully that he wishes to stay at Melbourne all things considered, or he is saying it to try and push GWS' offer even further (or indeed prompt them to give Tom an offer, which I believe they are yet to do).
  7. As opposed to "we will deal with this situation at the end of the year" and "I'm not going to discuss this issue until the end of the season" and "we are going to have to weigh up all the options".
  8. Interesting tactic. Bid is with MFC. Time for GWS to make their next move.
  9. Agreed. We need at least one fresh pair of legs. Blease, given he has plenty of dash and has been close to selection for a couple of weeks now, could be a good replacement for MacDonald. I definitely wouldn't play Joel if he isn't 100% fit. Don't think we can afford to carry someone on half fitness when everyone will be struggling after 3 six day breaks. In: Blease Out: MacDonald (inj.) Morton into the 22, and sub could be either Bennell again, Strauss or Nicholson. Someone with yet another burst of speed who can help us carry the ball in the last quarter, remembering that the Dogs have a short prep week too. I'd be very careful with Tappy. Soft tissue injuries, particularly ones suffered first time around, should be treated slowly and with extreme caution. Don't need this to develop into a chronic issue. Given we have a bye after this week, there is no rush. He can have 2 weeks at Casey first.
  10. I would hope that if any poster ever so much as makes even a slightly racially abusive comment towards a player or another poster, that they are banned for life. And I know they will be. Besides, it's been a long time since I've seen anyone here abuse a player or coach in a completely unacceptable manner. Generally it's just the same old, 'clueless', 'soft, 'rubbish'. Don't think that even rates on the same scale of racially vilifying someone!
  11. Absolute moron and an utter disgrace. I'd have banned him for the rest of the season. What a hero, racially abusing an opponent. Deserves to get roughed up badly upon his return.
  12. Yet our record at the SCG is pretty decent, given how shite we've been in the last few years. We gotta learn to suck it up and play well outside of the MCG. I will spew if we lose to Port at AAMI in round 24!
  13. I hope you reported that. Look I'm a fair [censored] at the footy, but there are some things which are totally unacceptable. Racial abuse being one of those things.
  14. I FRIGGIN LOVE JORDIE MCKENZIE!!!!
  15. I've been completely impressed with Strauss' defensive work since he's come into the side. Does anyone know who his direct opponent was on Saturday? Because that to me is a measure of a good defender, he did his job and we saw nothing from his opponent. His kicking can be an absolute weapon, and so the more comfortable he gets defensively the more he'll take on his opponent and slice through half back with his beautiful kicking. He's quietly been doing a very nice job, which is great to see after a tough first few years in footy.
  16. I don't understand why you've been given so much crap for reporting what you heard, although I think your first post was quite misleading. Either way, I think everyone at GWS have vested interest in getting Scully and lying about securing his services. As far as sources are concerned, they're up there with Scully's dog walker.
  17. I'd get Davey back into the forwardline ASAP to work as the crumber and get LJ flying again. To stop someone like LJ from playing his natural, instinctive game, is criminal. I get that it's part of a team setup, and we are missing ground work skills in the forwardline at the moment (although Watts is doing remarkable things below his knees), but we have to rectify this and get LJ playing his natural game again.
  18. I'm going to hazard a guess that Scully is not going to be too pleased to hear that GWS are telling anyone who will listen (which granted is roughly 3 people), that he is theirs. That brands him as a liar, a cheat and a scumbag for having already signed a deal with them.
  19. Absolutely. Nobody, bar Petterd in Round 1, has given us anything as a sub this entire season. Bennell did less than Morton as the sub last week, and Bennell had the luxury of coming onto the ground when we were 10 goals up. I have a lot of time for Morton, and yes he is going through a very ordinary patch. Confidence is very hard to gain and very easy to lose. I think he needs a solid pre-season and a proper role in the team that he can play in with a certain level of consistency, which I think is something he has lacked for his entire career. The haters are clearly not coping with having so many good players on the list and nobody to hang crap on.
  20. Because he stood in front of the media at the start of the year and told us he hasn't, and he isn't a liar. Because if he had made a deal with GWS the club would know about it and he wouldn't be getting a game. And because I know. He may well still choose to go to GWS, but he hasn't signed, dealt with, or even looked at a contract. And as frustrating as it is, he won't do so until the end of the season.
  21. If we want to play finals, we have to win the next 2 games, and our final 3/4 games, given we will lose Rounds 18,19 and 20 where we play Hawthorn, Geelong and Carlton (although lets hope we smash them!). It's pretty simple, our effort will dictate our reward. This whole Etihad/we haven't beaten a decent Vic side in years, is pure and utter shite. It's all irrelevant hoodoo. We have to get over it and pump the Dogs, who are well and truly down on form and confidence.
  22. I absolutely don't doubt that you are reporting what you heard, but I absolutely 110% know that Scully has not sealed any sort of deal with GWS. The rest of the [censored] you were told, is therefore irrelevant. P.S.- good to see GWS have at least one member. It'll be lonely for them on the bottom
  23. Didn't hear anyone boo him, but any Melbourne supporters who did should be ashamed of themselves. Miller gave his absolute best to our club for many years, was a leader and highly respected and loved by everyone. He was sad to leave the club, and I'm thrilled for him that he has found another opportunity elsewhere. Where these moronic 'hard feelings' come from, I have no idea. He is not a great player, but he is a star human being and deserves a minimal level of decency and respect.
  24. 6. Moloney 5. Watts 4. Garland 3. Jones 2. Trengove 1. Frawley
  25. I had the pleasure of sitting behind 4 teenage boys, with the combined IQ of a cockroach. They got stuck into everyone from Jack Watts to Jim Stynes. It took a lot of self control not to punch them all in the head. I appreciate the passion that Tigers' supporters show, but these guys made singing the song after the game just that much sweeter. Shameful to think that these idiots are the future of our country, I'd be surprised if they know how to count to 10.
