  1. I have no issue if Tom waits until the end of the year to sign, however if he chooses to leave for the cash, he'll be one of the very few young players who will do so, and that will follow him for the rest of his career. So far, many of the bigger names who have been chased for money, have turned it down. Martin and Kreuzer are just a few early draft picks to have done so. Probably a small price to pay for the millions that he'll be earning mind you.
  2. Qualify for what? The Australian Netball Team? I've lost track of the multiple conversations going on here. Should go back to doing some work now.
  3. You think I get Youtube access at work? Come on now. I barely get Demonland access They decided to block internet shopping sites too, until they realised we work at a fashion company and they were facing an employee strike. Good times.
  4. In other good news, our only remaining working photocopier is broken. How is it that we can fly people to the moon, but nobody has invented a photocopier that doesn't get paper jammed. Seriously. Fridays are a [censored].
  5. I just had a terrible coffee and it cost me $4.30. Also, this thread is by far the most interesting thing I've read today.
  6. Competitive has been replaced by consistency. Hopefully next year the new buzz word about Melbourne will be premiership
  7. Maybe they put the teams together before they knew if he was gonna get off his rough conduct charge? He should play. Surely.
  8. That's what you get for being one of the only players in the team with consistent output. He hasn't had a bad game since the GC game where he was a sub. That's a long stretch of contribution for someone so young, and seemingly it's a feat nobody more senior can achieve (Beamer comes close, but he too goes missing when we're down). It's a credit to Watts, Martin and to a lesser extent Trengove (who would probably be up the top if he didn't miss 3 games), that they've managed to maintain a high level of performance each and every week, regardless of how everyone around them has performed. Especially for Watts who plays a tough position, and Martin who has been on a steep learning curve since Jamar went down injured.
  9. I don't think I heaped even a little bit of gushing praise on Blease, but I find it astounding that in a 10 goal loss, where our senior players were mostly rubbish, we choose to talk about Blease, who played for 1.5 quarters. I'm not advocating that we always blindly support new players, but FFS I am sick and tired of reading crap about young players. Watts is shite, Strauss is soft, Scully can't kick etc etc... It's the same rubbish we heard about Frawley (terrible defender), Garland (soft and weak), and the list goes on. Just let these kids develop, don't expect them to be perfect from the first moment they step on the ground, accept that they'll take short steps, not chase hard enough, fluff some kicks. It happens, it happens to 10 year players too. Let's stop focusing on stupid issues and worry about what is actually important. It's far more upsetting that Green, our captain, has been MIA practically all year. What direction and leadership is a kid like Blease getting when his captain is not giving a yelp?
  10. No complaints, but really, joke.
  11. Not at all. I think the large majority of supporters have a lot of time for Bennell, but here are some stats for you.... Bennell is averaging 10 disposals a game. That's 1 less than last year, and 2 less than his debut season. He also averages less than 2 tackles a game, and his stats have all gone down since last year. Just as a comparison, Nicholson, who has been a sub as many times as Bennell this year, is averaging 14 disposals a game, and nearly double the tackles. We cannot keep carrying guys like Bennell in the side, who don't give us much. 10 disposals a game is very poor, when even as a fellow small defender Strauss averages 18 disposals a game, with a lot less experience. There is no doubt he is very quick and can use the ball well, but it doesn't help us when he rarely gets near it, especially when he is also timid around packs, doesn't tackle (and with his speed he should be hunting them down!) and doesn't gut run.
  12. At least you get paid to work on a Saturday and read this delightful forum post-loss. I'm just sitting here waiting for reports to download, but the server is having a meltdown. Must be shitty doing unpaid overtime, like me. Got sucked in badly by this promotion. Why didn't GWS try to poach me? WHY?!
  13. Jack Viney is going to the U18 tribunal this week, charged with rough conduct for a sling tackle on his opponent. Epic. Can we bring him into the team for the Darwin game?
  14. Any idea what's wrong with Warnock? How's my boy Tappy doing?
  15. Absolutely. How dare he make a mistake in his first quarter of AFL footy. I'm sick and tired of these bloody first gamers, with their fancy shoes and their fluro green vests prancing on the ground like they don't know what they are doing, not adapting to the speed, losing their man and generally not winning us matches. It's just an absolute disgrace, and they are to blame for everything that is wrong with our club. Lack of skills? first gamers. Lack of leadership? first gamers. Poor coaching? bloody first gamers. For mine, it's straight to GWS in exchange for pick 98 for young Blease. You tried your best son, gave us one hell of a quarter, but it's time to move on.
  16. Those stats are good. They still don't explain the over use of the ball, or the bad decision making going forward, or indeed the softness and unwillingness to fight out the game. I can accept getting beaten one on one, losing the clearances, being pressured, those are all things that a mature team should do against a young team. But a lack of heart and fight has been a trademark of this club for many years, even when we were full of big bodies. We had everything to play for last night and we packed it in after quarter time. Heads dropped, intensity was nearly non existent and nobody was leading the way except two 19 year olds in Trengove and Watts.
  17. Great mark and good work rate last night. But the kid can't kick and makes deplorable decisions. Howe and Cook will eventually push him out of our best 22 if he doesn't get onto those weaknesses.
  18. Anybody who heard Jack Grimes on Ch. 10 news yesterday can tell he's got captain written all over him. If he can get through one single season without his body self destructing, he'll be leading us from 2013 onwards. Watts and Trengove need to keep concentrating on developing and destroying their opponents, in sling tackles, or otherwise.
  19. I'll raise you having a crap sleep then having to go into the office this morning to finish off work I didn't have time to do yesterday because I had to leave early to go to the game. That is what I call epic fail. I agree with whoever said a while ago that this team gives us nothing. Short lived, soft wins and badly fought-out embarrassing losses.
  20. The Bad This will now turn into a "Scully is leaving us because we suck" thread
  21. The Good For the first time in weeks, the Tom Scully thread is not on the first page of the forum.
  22. I think he's carrying an injury. Either that, or Bailey thought he was going to kick us a bag tonight. Hard to get involved when you're stranded up forward and the ball is going one way only. Dumb decision to release Green up and hold Sylvia back. Just one more thing that we did horribly wrong tonight. Some very very odd match ups and set ups really. And on a slightly different note, since when is Jack Watts to the backline our new giving up tactic? Terrible!
