  1. So, he's better than Judd and Ablett and Franklin? Not even close. He might be up there, but he isn't proven, he is small bodied, his kicking needs work and his knee is suspect. How the f' is GWS going to build a team, a serious team, if they've invested that much money into one individual who isn't even a proven commodity yet. It's also why I think the whole Ward situation is a joke. As if that kid is worth that much money. Ablett went to the GC and got paid the big bucks after 2 premierships and a Brownlow, is captaining their club and is their figurehead. Who in Western Sydney has even heard of Scully? What has he done in the game thus far to give GWS that sort of return on investment? You have to remember that it's not just about winning games, it's about them building a brand and gathering support. Scully is not in the same league as Ablett when it comes to that. To suggest he's worth equal money is just dumb management. Are they so desperate, having been turned down by everyone who is good, to snare somebody, that they are throwing stupid money at random kids? Regardless, if that is what they offer him, he should and will go, and it won't bother me. He doesn't deserve that sort of coin and we'll do just fine spreading our cap more evenly and paying a far larger numbers of star players who will get us to a premiership.
  2. If that is indeed the deal, then good luck to him. Can't possibly see him staying, because we can't get close to that, and nor should we. Scully might be good, but he is not that good and he is not worth even close to that sort of money. There is also a reason why GWS want to sign him up long term... they obviously don't back themselves to keep him in 2 years time if he was to come out of contract. However, we have to keep taking everything with a grain of salt. The media keep reporting he's signed and gone, but he hasn't even been approached by GWS yet. If he was their main man, and with that sort of offer you'd think he is, surely they'd have approached him already with a deal, as they have done with Ward. Smoke screens, or playing by the rules? EDIT: Over my dead body is Scully worthy of being one of, if not the highest paid player in the league. Joke.
  3. It better not be that Saturday night. I got a birthday venue booked. Stupid floating draw. The AFL are ruining my life! I actually think we'll play the Sunday. Firstly because that game will have zero interest in it, and Port won't make finals so they won't get that priority of a longer rest. I expect Carl vs. St Kilda to be the Saturday night game. Also remembering that our Round 23 game is on a Sunday, as is Port's, so we'll probably get the 7 day break given we have to travel. Fingers crossed. Boys better finally win one on my birthday weekend too. It's been 4 years since I got a win on my birthday. Bastards!
  4. And let's not forget who was kicking the ball to Brown on the lead... only one of the best midfields of the modern era.
  5. Like it or not, we are still largely in development mode. We lost MacDonald to injury and chose to bring in a new exciting player in Blease, who has worked very hard to get himself back onto the field after a horrific injury. Given the choice between a Blease debut or a Warnock/Bate/Dunn replacement, I'm glad we went with Blease. Wish him all the best tomorrow. Hope he has a great game!
  6. This is the apparent backflip: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/scully-has-not-made-a-decision-manager-20110628-1goap.html
  7. Rick Olerenshaw is Scully's manager is he? He wouldn't know his own head from his arse. Scully hasn't made a decision, he couldn't have if he hasn't even seen contract offers, could he now?!
  8. I do wonder, why if GWS are apparently chasing Scully, have they not made a hard approach at him like they have with Ward? Because even if Scully is not interested in talking contracts until the end of the year, it doesn't stop them from giving him or his managers one to look at, and according to sources I actually believe, they are yet to do so. Just wondering if they really are as interested in him as the media appears to make out, or whether it's all smoke screens and distractions to try and steal other players (be it ours or another club's). Besides, a player who is leaning towards a move away from their current club wouldn't really care that much about contracts distracting him from his footy, would he?
  9. It really is. I don't believe Scully would commend the sort of money that is being discussed in the media, but gees if Ward is worth $1mil a year, I suppose Scully must be worth that much to them as well. This GWS thing is a massive farce. The AFL should be ashamed that they have created this situation. I completely understand the need for new teams to get going quickly, but to give them the ability to throw millions at young, contracted players, is a joke.
  10. If we beat Geelong in Geelong this year I'll buy 10 memberships next year and donate them. No chance in hell! Geelong would have to lose 4-5 players during the game to injuries, and we probably still won't match them. Geelong at Skilled Stadium are the best, most unbeatable team in the competition. 28 wins in a row down there. You'd find it easier infiltrating the White House!
  11. Please please please for the love of god let us beat those absolute Carlton scumbags who called us soft. If losing to us also happens to knock them out of top 4 contention, all the better. That sort of win would absolutely be the highlight of the past 4 years! Geelong will beat us by 12+ goals, Hawthorn will beat us by 6+ goals and WC are in spectacular form, so unless they suffer injuries to some key players, I doubt we'll get close to them. Carlton lost to them, and they play very well at Etihad, whereas we don't. The other key win this year is Round 24 versus Port. They are shite, but it's at AAMI Stadium. If we don't beat them, we don't deserve to make finals and we probably won't.
  12. If you have legitimate reasons for not turning up, that's a totally different story. If you're not gonna go because you don't like Etihad then it's just a stupid reason. The above post was more a general comment to anyone who came into this thread to whinge about Etihad and not going on Friday to support our players in their quest for a top 8 spot, because they think the stadium is shite and doesn't meet their required standards
  13. When you go to the footy do you go for comfort? do you go for the gourmet dining involved? I just don't understand this mentality. It's a damn ground. Yes, it's a hell hole and I hate it, but why would you not go to support the players if you could? All excuses relating to the ground, the location, the food, the prices, are [censored]. Go and support the players and the club. They did not choose to play there, but they still have to rock up and put up with it. We as supporters should be no different. We are privileged to have the ability to go watch our team play almost every week (and ask any interstate supporter how envious they feel of us Melbourne residents!). Taking it for granted and not turning up is the quickest way to get us into a mess again off the field. I want to go on Friday and listen to the crowd roar louder for us than they do for the Dogs. It's possible and it will help us get over the line. Make no mistake about that.
  14. Very excited to read this one. Will it be available for purchasing via the Melbourne store?
  15. Again, or did someone forget to update last week's list?
  16. WHERE IS MY ANSWER?
  17. Bail! Motherf'ing knees!!!
  18. I guess Justin Bobby is a massive [censored], which doesn't really help
  19. Still can't answer my questions, can you?!
  20. You refused to answer me the first time around, so I'll ask again. What's it about? And what does Richmond have over Melbourne? Answer those questions clearly or enough with the rubbish innuendo.
  21. For anyone who ever watched The Hills (I'm going to guess nobody here has), it also reminds me a lot of a character on the show who used to be called Justin Bobby. I find myself just saying Ricky Bobby whenever he has the ball, guess it's a habit.
  22. Gysberts is just another level of talent. He is a freak. His hands in close are as good as I've seen. As good as Scully's.
  23. I think Grant Thomas was slightly taking the [censored], and also said Tom strikes him as the sort of player who would want to focus 100% on his game preparation and not get distracted by contract negotiations, which could be why he hasn't signed yet or made a decision. Gary said he thinks Tom hasn't made his mind up yet. Barret talked poo and Hutchy said very little. No mention of what Lynch said on The Couch earlier on. Biggest load of horseshit since the call about Stynes telling Bailey Tom's gone after the Collingwood game. Fail!
  24. You just need to calm right down please B)
  25. WHAT?! Worst.Post.EVER. Seriously.
