  1. Send him to live with Nev. Will not get a better education on how to be a top athlete/person anywhere else. Reminds me a little bit of Aussie in his breakout year, but a few less turtles for dinner.
  2. Agreed. From the outside looking in, I would have Captain: Gawn Vice Captains: Tmac and Lever Remaining leadership group: Viney, Jetta, Jones This will give us a good mix of leadership on every line / area of the ground. It will also ensure a good balance of younger and older players which is important with a young list. I strongly believe Lever is being groomed for a captaincy role down the line. He is an outstanding character and spoken of incredibly highly by teammates and coaches.
  3. Jesus not a 2 week delay due to minor injuries. The world is ending!
  4. Glorious hair. Hope he doesn’t lose a bet and is forced to shave it off.
  5. I’m just excited they’re going to be working on our appalling skills.
  6. That's very true. I think I was in year 10. Fast forward 394 years later, and we are still no good.
  7. Hold up, your daughter is a teenager? Christ I feel old.
  8. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen on someone’s Instagram that he’s been training with Harmes and Gawn in the off season, so fingers crossed he comes back in ripping shape. If he doesn’t, they’ll rip him a new one.
  9. Assuming as a delisted player he can pick his destination. Hannath was never on a list and went to the rookie (?) draft. Bennell doesn’t need to go into any draft I assume we can pick him up in March as we did with Lockhart and I assume the order of picks is as per the draft so we have pick 2. Thus only GC can trump us, thus if we want him, he’s ours. Please correct if I’m wrong.
  10. Exciting news. Literally nothing to lose and everything to gain. He would be wise to become best buddies with Jetta ASAP if he wants to be led the right way and understand what it takes to come back from the outer (given Jetta was delisted).
  11. How we allow the AFL to do this to us every year is beyond me. A disgraceful permanent feature of our draw.
  12. From a quick glance this draw sucks horribly from both a financial and team recovery point of view. Screwed again. [censored] Geelong in Geelong AGAIN! I thought Pert was meant to be good at this stuff.
  13. If we wanted a mature forward who couldn't get on the park, we would have kept Smith.
  14. It's official then. Just out of curiosity, and because the AFL changes rules more than people change underwear.... do we need to wait until the pre-season draft (is that even a thing now?) to pick him up, or can we sign him up anytime?
  15. The upside to a 5 year deal for a relatively young player with plenty of development left, is that his 4th and 5th season will see him being paid well under his worth, leaving us cap room for other players. It is a good move.
  16. Epic lols. I can’t wait to see the rest of the draw. We are going to be screwed big time this season. Guess I’ll need to get Fox Footy again.
  17. For once we lucked out. It happens so rarely.
  18. I assume you mean Melksham? And if so I really don’t know how you can compare the two. Melksham was given drugs as part of a systematic club- wide cheating programs. He didn’t go out and take drugs on his own accord.
  19. Just shocking really. To lose yourself to concussion at such a young age and lose the thing you’ve worked so hard to achieve your whole life is devastating. Wish him all the luck in the world for his future.
  20. You can’t say they aren’t trying
  21. Frost would have been great depth sure. But you can’t pay depth players the kind of coin he was chasing. Would you rather keep Frost or re-sign Oliver and Gawn when their contracts are up? List management is about a lot more than just keeping onto players you think are OK. We have to manage our cap. Oh and the McDonald conspiracy theory is amazing. I love it. Unique and refreshing. Tom must be one hell of a negotiator. Getting new contracts for himself and his brother and getting rid of their competition. Shame he couldn’t stop them recruiting May and Lever.
  22. Yeah it’s nice to see so many players doing some training on their break. I’ve seen at least half a dozen on Instagram combining holidays with fitness training.
  23. True. But also clubs like Carlton and Essendon, have dug their own grave in no less significant ways and still have never suffered poor draws like we have. Yes I know, big clubs and so on and so forth. Hard to become a big club with this level of inequality though.
  24. My expectations are that we will have a crap draw from a commercial point of view after stinking it up this year. Having finished 17th we should have an easier draw, but I assume we will still have crappy short breaks, trips to Cardinia Park, Tassie and whatever other random spots they feel like throwing us to. Pert did a great job for Collingwood on the draw. Let’s see if he’s pulled the same muscle for us. At least we have two big home games this year in Anzac eve and Queens Bday.
  25. All the best to both of them. Hope they are given a chance elsewhere.
