First game of the year I can’t watch even if I wanted to, and we are winning. Typical.

I’m getting married two weeks before the 2020 season starts. At least something good is going to happen next year for me.

This. I hate football and I simply cannot muster up enough care to even go to games if it’s wet or at an inconvenient time. I used to move heaven and earth to watch us play. I went on crutches with a broken knee for 2 months while we were on the bottom of the ladder. But I’m exhausted. Supporting this club and caring so much is soul destroying and toxic.

I’m in the Middle East where it’s more peaceful than watching Melbourne play.

I would like to see him played as a tagger. Harmes is a better user of the ball and better when resting forward and I believe he is past his tagging days save for a special occasion. We saw Viney in the early days thrive when given specific jobs on Ablett, Dangerfield and Selwood. He is a natural tackler and hunter of the ball, so tagging seems to be right for him. His ball use is simply trash when left to his own devices.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the captains voted in by the players? Edit: I know years ago it was a vote by the players with final sign off by the coaches. Has this changed?

How many more injuries will we sustain in these last two weeks? Honestly this season can not end quickly enough.

Big difference going head to head and being made to change how you play to specifically nullify an opponent. Obviously Gawn and Grundy would go head to head. But the instructions should have been, made him chase you. Our mark him. Smash him in hit outs. Do your thing. Not, don’t worry about your game just ensure Grundy is nullified. It makes no sense.

Correct. If you’re picking players on their positions, Gawn is hands down the best RUCKMAN in the game. His ruck stats are simply superior. So if you’re picking a ruckman it has to be Gawn. If you’re just picking 22 midfielders than sure Grundy gets the nod.

The fact that Goodwin made Gawn, the best ruckman in the league, tag Grundy makes me feel sick. How can a coach be this dumb? Does Fyfe tag Martin? Wtf is this strategy? Let’s nullify our best player by making him nullify an equally good player. And let’s do it in the ruck. Words fail me.

Any chance these guys will go down to training and teach our players how to kick?

Honestly now May is out for the season with his third hamstring, you gotta question why we keep bringing in under done players or players with a history of injuries to play in a dead season. An early pre season start for May would have been far more beneficial than playing today. He came to us unfit so make him work to fix that. We know he can play, we don’t know if we can play more than 2 matches in a row without getting injured.

That’s really harsh. I know hating on Omac is flavour of the month but he honestly played well today. Was aggressive at the ball, and hit targets. Considering he’s never played forward or ruck, he did well. Needs a break. He’s hardly the core of our issues.

Things I hated: 1. The lack of defensive running 2. The match ups. Nobody on Sidebottom was brilliant. 3. May injured 4. Lever kicking the football 5. Anyone other than Salem and Lewis kicking the football 6. The two more games we have left to endure

Hard for anyone to commentate a Melbourne game and not be negative. We are woeful.
