I believe it's only 3 list changes, not 3 delistings. So three players have to be removed in any form. Obviously we're already one down with...him...and assume Warnock leaving through trade makes it two down. So we really only need to trade/delist one player.

Not convinced either, but what happened to giving time to a player coming out of his first AFL contract who was a 3rd Round selection? Prendergast tossed up between taking Big Max and Fitz in the 30s and was delighted when Fitz was still available in the 50s. He clearly rates him. I'm fine with giving him another 2 years, come back to me then.

They changed the rules for the year after Jack Watts was drafted to say that players had to be older. Think they have to turn 18 the year they are drafted now (previously was only 17 I believe)

It was a 5 year deal. Remember reading the article late last year. 2 non-playing years, included outside the salary cap (as he is not a member of the playing staff) then 3 playing years. The reasons for it were multiple. Part of it is to include it under MFC medical stuff as he is training at the club and has been all year. If he were to do so without a contract then there would be exposure if he were injured. There's also loyalty stuff, getting him involved early so it's an easy transition and preparing him so he'll be ready to go come rd1 2013.

I'm of the opinion that Rivers is the best third man/loose defender in the AFL. Better than Nick Maxwell. The issue is that Maxwell does a better job man-on-man than Rivers does.

If anyone wants an argument for Dawes, seriously, watch the prelim from Friday night again. Time and time again he takes the big pack marks and muscles his way through the contest. Don't care that 'oh he would get the best defender where he's only getting the 2nd best at Collingwood because of Cloke' - because when you're winning 6-man marking contests it doesn't matter whether you have the best defender or not. He is what we need, pure and simple.

The issue is other clubs sniffing around though. Although I think we're in the best position if we were going to have a go, there's a few around who would be very interested in him. Based simply off last night I'd take him though, what an absolute beast of a forward he was.

I am aware, but compared to last season where we had 5, maybe 6 if you count O'Donnell (not sure of the role there) then that's a fair bump up, especially when coupled with Misson and his crew. I think that, this being a Stynes/McLardy appointment rather than a Gardiner one as Bailey was, the board are prepared to give the FD all the tools they need where they may not have been as willing with Bailey.
