  1. I think Eddie just wants to generate the ratings to be honest. The reality is, he cannot restrict the movements of any of Collingwood's staff if they elect to resign and join another club. There's laws against that sort of thing. Eddie's just in the 'oh easy way to get calls and responses is to rile up the Collingwood base'. It's a cheap shot, especially with the history of the Pies re: Malthouse and Luke Ball. Honestly, it's fantastic to see the MFC acting like a big club, rather than simply rolling over and dealing with the opposition trampling on us.
  2. God, I'm up here now and it has not stopped raining since I landed, it's just been various degrees of heavy. And look at the weather in Melbourne!!
  3. Hey guys, would it be okay if I invite my best mate, even if he's non-MFC?
  4. Doesn't matter too much though as regardless we will face two fresh squads since we have the first two games.
  5. No Jetta is interesting. Should be good, looking forward to it...heading up to BrisVegas tomorrow and (weather permitting) will spend Saturday on the Gold Coast before the game.
  6. Standing bet with my mate of a sixpack regarding the result of every game vs Carlton. It's been pretty brutal lately.
  7. Can we have an option on re-opening this topic of conversation should we play Franchise FC in a final?
  8. I know my opinions are well-known on Cale, but, well... maybe he twinged it practicing for a Port Adelaide game?
  9. Long as we have an extra 2 players.
  10. GWS. Cornes 239 Brogan 174 Power 282 Palmer 53 Junior 251 Setanta 80 Ward 60 Scully 31 Reid 10 Davis 18 Average 119.8 games. Bingo. That said, assuming all 10 of those play against Sydney, along with 12 kids, the average after that game then drops to 55.45. And drops further as more kids play (and the uncontracted players don't)
  11. So hold on, who do I get to beat around like they're GWS first?
  12. Will they let me have a giant banner in the MCC proclaiming 'You lied to Jim Stynes!'?
  13. Surely Port deserve one if they have an awful season. Stuck at the bottom through two compromised drafts as the two new clubs pick up all the guns.
  14. I liked the '09 clash strip the best, regretting not getting my paws on one of those. Have to see what the 2012 one looks like to be honest.
  15. Coincidentally I'm going to be up in Brisbane with another mad Melbourne supporter who has recently moved up there. We've decided we'll head down to Metricon for the game, especially since we'll probably be on the Gold Coast in the day anyway. As for the NAB, I'm not sure. I think the Sat night was a corker, what with GWS giving it a serious crack (and a certain unmentionable player having a torrid time) as well as the close margins. But I don't know how many of those we'll get next weekend, if any.
  16. I'm actually okay with pick 9, mostly because it means I get relatively consistent picks rather than near-consecutive picks with gaps.
  17. Question: how are we going to organise the draft? Just random out-of-a-hat draw? And then (I assume) a reverse draft order (ie Team with Round 1 pick 1 has Round 2 pick 14)
  18. Who cares about intraclub, BC racing in the Lightning this weekend...this is for #19 yes Redleg? Or is this #20 and the record?
  19. This thing has got to be coming close to the longest thread in DL history, surely! I mean, there's more posts than there were cents in the price of bananas...
  20. Jim, by the looks of it it works closer to DT than SC in terms of scoring - points for kicks, handballs etc and no efficiency status. However, there is only one of each player in each league. A draft is run pre-season for teams to select players, and then players are able to be traded throughout the season. You are also able to cut players and pick up players who have not been selected by any team.
  21. League 2 option - how about make draft night Monday the 12th - Labor Day?
  22. Doesn't work if we want to do a keeper league though as some players will invariably be the same
  23. Moloney: Good ordinary midfielder Jones: Everyone forgets he's still only 23 - my tip for a big year Sylvia: Goodness knows if we'll ever see a consistent run of his best form beyond 3 games Trengove: The lad has class written all over him and will see more and more Grimes: Every time we've moved him to the midfield he's been hurt dammit! Morton: If you don't know my views on Morton, let's just say I think Rhino has warned me either twice or three times for my comments on him. Gysberts: Needs bulk Taggert: Too soon to call Bail: Had made it for me before he got injured, our number 1 tagger and is very, very good. McKenzie: Tackle machine but needs to improve his kicking to the point where he has confidence in his foot skills - he has games where he'll literally have about 20 handballs and one kick Bate: We will see, I think he's too slow though Viney: 2 years on a semi-AFL load will help him but he is still at least a year away Then there's Magner, Couch, Pickles and Nicho who we will see at some point I am sure but I don't know if they're good enough. I'd say we need two more, or one absolute top-ender.
  24. On BC, I find it amazing that she's so quick that she's actually pulled up by the jockey so that she 'only' wins by a few lengths. Oh, and the fact that her win was the slowest Orr Stakes time in a few years (as reported on the weekend).
  25. Toon Army is in. Date is currently not great, but will inform when closer.
