  1. Yes Roos didn't praise a no possession half of Howes as the best no possession half he had ever seen? Talking about fattening up a calf for auction
  2. Watching the Watts on ground interview after the match and he mentions H speaking to him about the 2010 Premiership and about belief (which you can very much picture Lumumba doing) and then there is the shot of the Melbourne players walking off the ground and their are a lot of hugs and back slaps for H. Perhaps he could be one of those players whose worth is valued way more than what they just produce on the field. I am becoming a big fan of his
  3. Yes, there is bit of a 1987 feel about it
  4. That is a very strange thing to write
  5. Hope it wasn't Misson that said he would play
  6. Unless a ruck man is mobile and can pick up possessions around the ground I've always thought that the profession is overrated. However 25 hit outs to advantage is huge. Our biggest issue (admittedly of many) over the years has been constantly been beaten out of the centre or from throw-ins - losing clearances. Having first use 25 times extra a game won't guarantee a Nathan Jones goal every time but at the very least means the opposition hasn't got it. Max got 7 clearances himself as well. It is very nice to feel that we have a reasonable chance of getting the ball out of centre and around the boundary line rather than it just being another opportunity to get an inside 50. Viva La Max
  7. First impressions are, more often than not, correct Nasher. Over the past few years Healy has never missed an opportunity to put the boots into us when we were at our lowest. If he drove past 4 blokes kicking the poo out of someone on the ground he would turn the car around and push his way to the front of the queue if the bloke in the foetal position was the MFC. The only positive I take from his mild backtracking is that he can see fight in the prone body and he is trying to put some distance between him and his past behaviour. G. Healy is a [censored]'s [censored]
  8. This doesn't fit here but watching the replay and, just quietly, I think Clayton Oliver maybe an alien. North blokes tackle him and they have his arms all snugly wrapped up and then they appear well above his head dishing off to a running teammate. Possibly the AFLs first intergalactic recruit.
  9. I understand that you are not making a direct comparison as players between Murphy and Flower but there is daylight between them both Murphy is very, very good. Flower was brilliant.
  10. Yes I picked GWS too, I really rate them and thought we were away when we beat them.
  11. Great list aside from Spencer. We have pretty much no ruck back up. Scary. Can someone please explain how the Brent Harvey/Jake Spencer thing of fully "popping" the plantar fasciitis leads to a reduced rehab time.
  12. Also a first time listener. Great job boys, thank you. Good to hear from Jared Rivers and Gawnie before him Your podcast will now form part of my early week footy ritual along with Titus and the Every Day is like Sunday blog PS Who is your interviewee this week?
  13. It is an insightful observation in the OP of how in 2013 we were a basket case defeated by a rampaging Essendon by almost 25 goals. Jobe Watson won 38 possessions plus 3 Brownlow votes and Crameri kicked six goals. They were big, strong and competitive, everything we weren't. Fast forward three years and we now know that there were other factors contributing to that blowout aside from our own hopelessness. We are now the team chock full of competitors and they have weaved their own basket of drug induced ineptitude. This weekend we need to rid that history of 3 seasons past and march towards making some new premiership history of our own. They can languish at the bottom of the ladder where they so deserve to be.
  14. On the Scully score Jesse is coming up a zero. Langdon obviously wasn't one of the 28,000 there to witness his celebrations at the siren on Saturday. He is invested in this club.
  15. Weird tongue thing happening with Ben. Think it helps with his decision making
  16. I want to believe this Oldfart and I think you are right but my supporter syndrome is strong
  17. Congrats to the Clarry. With Hogan the winner last year, Brayshaw in the top 5 and now Oliver getting an early gong this year you would think Petracca will be chomping on the bit to get amongst it. We are living in interesting times to be a Melbourne supporter. Statistical quirk from the weekend. Of the top five 2015 draft picks - Weitering, Schache, Mills, Oliver and Parish - all played and played well. Of the 2014 top 5 from 2014 - McCartin, Petracca, Brayshaw, Pickett and DeGoey - none played at the top level for various reasons
  18. And at the end Chris Scott says "well that was tense", Bucks replies with something like "it could have been much worse"
  19. Favourite bit of new rules yesterday was when the ball was hacked out of the Melbourne backline and heading for the boundary line wing. GWS player half-heartedly chasing it, waving his arms around appealing for a deliberate out of bounds. More waving and appealing, Melbourne player sprints in, grabs ball just inside the boundary and accelerates away from the GWS player who is now dreading the mid week review. Classic
  20. Yes but then we perhaps win a couple more games and don't end up with Petracca and Brayshaw or Oliver and the Weed. I understand the angst of "we should have picked X" but it is so pointless. We are in the best shape since the late 80's, let's enjoy it
  21. When he is ready and not before
  22. No change, unless forced by injury. That was a great win. GWS will be a finals wide this year and, as acknowledged by others, any Demon side from the past decade would have folded and lost by 40+. You don't drop players after a game like that, you reward them
  23. Can we talk finals yet?
