  1. Agree but also particularly keen to see selected side tonight. Will be interested to see if both Pedersen and Frost play. Does Mat Jones get a guensey? Is Salem over his finger injury? Is Brayshaw playing? vandenBerg? Kennedy? Grimes? Harmes? Lumumba? And what of Oliver, does he debut ahead of some more experienced team mates? As the skipper said there will be some in-form players missing out. Given most would rate GWS list as only slightly ahead of ours this match could be won or lost at the selection table
  2. I just rejoined. Will soon take up my traditional spot towards the bottom of the tipping ladder
  3. It doesn't make a great deal of difference overall but it is probably safe to assume that Clayton is closer to 189cm than the 187 he is listed at.
  4. I haven't followed this as closely as many on here have but did watch the Four Corners program last night. I have assumed that Essendon would have their house in order by now but it would seem that is not so. To pursue Hal Hunter for costs is reprehensible. We have emailed Essendon sponsors Kia and Fujitsu to ask them why they are continuing to associate themselves with a business that has probably cheated and is now definitely bullying. I doubt either company will reply but will let you know if they do
  5. Agreed. Assuming Mumford does play you would think Gawn should be cherry ripe to run out the whole game on 3 full practice games whilst Mumford had what half? a game. Has he actually been confirmed to play?
  6. Who I hope will win Tigers V Blues. For humour value I hope the Blues get the win a week after Richmond re-appointing Dimma and as payback for the truly tragic Horses farce. Tigers in turmoil after Round one Melb V GWS. Us obviously with Scully getting dragged to the bench and made to wear a red jacket, playing no further part in the game, even though that rule doesn't exist any more Suns V Bombers. Not sure with this one. Perhaps Bombers to win, create false hope for their fans only for us to beat them by 187 next week. Or Suns to crush them and make the stupid walk to the G affair a very sad and deflated affair (then to be beaten by 187 points) Swans V Pies. Hard call. Swans but only to make Eddie sad North V Crows. Flip a coin. Crows Dogs V Freo. Don't mind either side. Both long time, fellow cellar dwellers. Maybe the Dogs Port V Saints. Don't really like Adelaide crowd. Soft spot for Saints Eagles V Lions. Go the Queenslanders Cats V Hawks. A nil all draw. Universally regarded as the worst match ever played and so no points awarded. Hawthorn go on to be the first club to win the Cup and the Spoon in consecutive years
  7. I do love that photo 13 Flags and also the bloke who had 100's pinned to his jacket (was never sure why the "authorities" turfed him out) The way though GWS midfield is shaping up Scully will soon be earning $50,000 a game in the NEAFL. There is no way he is playing for them on GF day 2018.
  8. I just quoted this because this is how I want my footy. Perhaps with a beer at halftime too. Lip synching, f...k me
  9. VDB not named in the Casey side. No idea if that is because he didn't come up or they have decided he doesn't need the run. Hope the latter
  10. I thought the start of last year was fairly good too but then went to poo fairly quickly
  11. or ringing lapsed members as seems disinterested, lacks passion, won't run with the conversation or deliver the supporters cash efficiently to the club
  12. I have some sort of blind spot with North. Every year I think they are overrated and then every year they surprise me. Nothing has changed this year for me, I reckon they are heading for the cliff. The front part of the Tigers bandwagon is already over the cliff. Dimma to be sacked mid season I know we will beat Richmond and in with more of a shot against North
  13. That is a fair summary. However we all know that the Melbourne of old would have still managed to completely foof up picks 2 & 3 from 2014 and then gone on to pick Parish over Oliver this year. At least the current regime actually has a plan and knows what they are doing
  14. Whoever makes the Rnd 1 team there will be some unlucky footballers running around at Casey. With Petracca and Trengove also coming back over the next few weeks the pressure will be on to perform in the firsts. At this stage we have got some actual depth in most spots aside from ruck and key position.
  15. i know what you mean. Out of the two I am more keen to actually see Trengove run out on to the ground. Once they are both out on the G my attention will be turning to Petracca
  16. For a player who got 14 possessions today which included 5 changers and cost us at least two goals I thought he did ok. I really liked the way he didn't drop his head. He kept going, looking for players on the move and eventually a few things worked for him. Despite looking like he was plucked from the Sound of Music cast he also seems to have a fair bit of toughness about him. Another competitor. Like most here I don't believe he is in contention for a round one spot but perhaps will prove more than handy long term
  17. The only reason I thought Clayton may struggle to get a gig in Round 1 was if the coaches considered he may need to build more fitness. So I looked up his figures from today. Time on ground = 68%. There were 19 Melbourne players who were given more playing time today Disposals 18, Marks 4, Tackles 6, Goals 2. Handy contribution for a bloke who was sitting on the pine for almost a third of the match. So the conundrum is that he probably isn't fit enough to play the whole game but is too good to leave out.
  18. Haven't seen much love for Bernie. Thought he was instrumental in the win and not just because of that goal saving tackle, but how good was that!
  19. When Watts took that strong contested mark early on I was pretty relaxed we were going to win. A bit like that match Simon Godfrey kicked a goal on the run from just inside the 50. You just knew it was going to be our day
  20. That's a very nice way of putting it pineapple one
  21. Thank you for the updates Demonwithin. Always appreciate any info from the coal face Who would you say are the Demons best and how is Max King in particular going?
  22. I'm guessing it would take a lot to make a 6' 10" ruckman go the Linda Blair so you'd think the latter
  23. The "Darwin Bombers" has a curiously natural ring to it. Perhaps the last few years have been leading to this all along
  24. When it comes to deportation it is a shame the Australian government doesn't have a father/son policy
