  1. As my father used to say we played like millionaires expecting someone else to do the work
  2. This is bad but nothing beats the Essendon match
  3. I wonder if the Carlton hierarchy ever think of what could have been; Jeff, Eddie, Josh and the current number 1 ranked player, Jarad would make for a powerful and potent forward line. Love that Melbourne was for on the happy side of a once in a decade deal but the best thing is Garlett is so much fun to watch. Whenever he gets the ball entertainment happens. Love that he is ours, we should keep it hat way
  4. Best story. Thank you DeeZee for passing it on What a brilliant way for Petracca to use his new found AFL fame. Can go one way or the other. Bet he got almost as much out of it as the boy he helped. More power to him.
  5. Chris Dawes' future involves study, club admin, club CEO, big business experience and then maybe coming back to run the AFL in twenty years time. Don't think it involves pulling on our club colours too many more times
  6. Bump The Andrew Leoncelli interview is well worth a listen if you haven't done so already. He doesn't do 'footy speak' and his fairly honest in his views
  7. No their signal doesn't make it to FNQ. "Interesting"listening I assume
  8. Oh, and more importantly I think most on here, no longer believe, we need saving
  9. For one of the few times I think you have the wrong end of the stick Jack. Yes everyone is excited to see what he can produce as there has been no shortage of footy people making very big calls on him. But I haven't heard any of the saviour mentality more a hope of Petracca being a (rather large) cherry on top.
  10. Yes early days but a shocker so far. Can't work out why and how Freo have fallen so far. They were bordering on great for a lot of last season and now they are very poor. Anyone got any ideas?
  11. We are the short, fat, nervous, pimply, picked on kid at school who has a late growth spurt. A few years later we rock up to Gerard's 21st a muscled up 6' 4" with a couple of super models in tow. "Steady on. Just steady on," says Gerard as we step over his drunk friend Mark and chat up his sister
  12. And class. He has a fraction of that Pendlebury thing where time stands still until he decides which of the multitude of teammates is in the best position to perfectly deliver the ball to. I think most of us assume that Christian has this in him and it will continue to develop with experience
  13. One game of the year I miss Frawley
  14. Stat over at Demonblog. Of the last 16 times we have gone in as favourites we have won 4. I don't know about you guys but four almost feels too generous
  15. Petracca reminds me of the cartoon of the nine moods of a golden retriever. There is sad, pleased, pensive, angry, unsure etc and in each of the nine drawings are of the same happy, chirpy looking dog.
  16. I like Burgs post match interview with Jones Burgs. "So what was it like coming up against your old mate Jeremy Howe" Jones. "Not much was said, he chose to leave" and then Jones just shrugs his shoulders. You get the feeling that this group is fairly tight. To leave it isn't looked upon favourably
  17. I have watched the replay, viewed the post match videos, had beer and wine and read every post on this thread. I can confidently say we are on our way. If I wasn't technically challenged there would be the Sunnyboys singing "I'm a happy man" . In this bit here .
  18. Yes Roos didn't praise a no possession half of Howes as the best no possession half he had ever seen? Talking about fattening up a calf for auction
  19. Watching the Watts on ground interview after the match and he mentions H speaking to him about the 2010 Premiership and about belief (which you can very much picture Lumumba doing) and then there is the shot of the Melbourne players walking off the ground and their are a lot of hugs and back slaps for H. Perhaps he could be one of those players whose worth is valued way more than what they just produce on the field. I am becoming a big fan of his
  20. Yes, there is bit of a 1987 feel about it
  21. That is a very strange thing to write
  22. Hope it wasn't Misson that said he would play
  23. Unless a ruck man is mobile and can pick up possessions around the ground I've always thought that the profession is overrated. However 25 hit outs to advantage is huge. Our biggest issue (admittedly of many) over the years has been constantly been beaten out of the centre or from throw-ins - losing clearances. Having first use 25 times extra a game won't guarantee a Nathan Jones goal every time but at the very least means the opposition hasn't got it. Max got 7 clearances himself as well. It is very nice to feel that we have a reasonable chance of getting the ball out of centre and around the boundary line rather than it just being another opportunity to get an inside 50. Viva La Max
  24. First impressions are, more often than not, correct Nasher. Over the past few years Healy has never missed an opportunity to put the boots into us when we were at our lowest. If he drove past 4 blokes kicking the poo out of someone on the ground he would turn the car around and push his way to the front of the queue if the bloke in the foetal position was the MFC. The only positive I take from his mild backtracking is that he can see fight in the prone body and he is trying to put some distance between him and his past behaviour. G. Healy is a [censored]'s [censored]
  25. This doesn't fit here but watching the replay and, just quietly, I think Clayton Oliver maybe an alien. North blokes tackle him and they have his arms all snugly wrapped up and then they appear well above his head dishing off to a running teammate. Possibly the AFLs first intergalactic recruit.
