  1. i'm probably only half your age mate, but i agree 100% Drugs are illegal (I dont care if its socially acceptable). As soon as you choose to take an illegal drug you should be prepared to face the consequences.
  2. do you know this for sure? Couple of players fit the bill, especially a rookie who showed some reasonable form for casey?
  3. I agree, however its a cut throat, black and white system, which is why it would work. I dont believe many AFL players are drug addicts that need to score. They're cashed up young blokes who have a heap of spare time and a high profile in society. They're going to dabble with dugs if they can get away with it. But although some of them arent the brightest sparks, i reckon the 'no second change' system would get the desired outcome.
  4. its either all or nothing as far as i'm concerned. this 3 stike policy sends mixed messages, do the AFL really want to stamp it out or just pretend they are concerned? If they really want to stamp it out then do what they do in construction and mining jobs; Daily random drug and alcohol testing. you fail the test you get shown the door. Anything less than this wont stop players from taking drugs.
  5. The comment about a best 22 player needing to show up to training with a needle hanging out of their arm in order to be delisted is bang on the money IMO. Cousins was the prime example, he was delisted and publically outed, but other guys like [censored], [censored] and the rest were not much different Wonder who the article is written about?
  6. I actually like Healy's has finally said what we all wanted someone in the media to acknowledge Demetriou has also got to understand he has played a significant role in creating the environment for which four or five clubs have tanked. They have taken away the incentive, but his reluctance to accept what the whole world was telling him, his complete denial that tanking existed, allowed clubs to think they could get away with it. It was almost tacit approval.
  7. Howe Clark Sylvia Byrnes Dawes Davey
  8. MELBOURNE has described as "an innocent mistake" a comment from AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou suggesting the club had failed to respond to tanking allegations by Tuesday's deadline. thats a terrible sentence!
  9. I hope this matter is resolved by the end of the week, the longer it drags on the more uneasy i will get
  10. good points, especially regarding Clark and Trengove. Gawn is running and kicking and the other 2 who arent on the LTI list arent!
  11. i was hoping to wake up to news that we had no case to answer
  12. If anyone else on this forum had said this statement i'd breath a sigh of relief.
  13. he looked average at times when surrounded by a premiership side, who's to say he wont look a cut above the rest of his team mates at the dees?!
  14. A filth supporter at work has been harping on about Dawes kicking 100 goals in a season for years and years. Now he's not in the black and white he reckons he's no good.... Typical of the flith
  15. I cant believe the journo's dont join the dots and note that this is the same scumb bag who managed Scully's deal to GWS. They draw the longest of bows when 'reporting' (speculating) about the tanking saga, but somehow they dont feel obliged to muck rake in this scenario?
  16. Watts strikes me bloke who has gotten everything his way (or the easy way) for a great deal of his life. I hope he doesnt cruise through his AFL career.Hopefully guys like Neeld, Craig, Byrnes & Rodan can get in JW's ear and can teach him what is requried to take his game to another level.
  17. The reality of all sports is that everyone is in it to win the big prize. teams are happy to sacrifice short term gains if it means they will one day win the big one. AFL clubs bottom out and play the youth to build towards a premiership tilt. Cricket Australia are playing a B grade team in all forms apart from test Cricket, and have been handing out baggy green caps like they are worthless in order to find a winning combination for the ashes. The only format that would prevent experimentation or list management IMO, is a system that involves relegation. If you have to win or loose the right to play with the big boys then you see teams playing to win every week. Perhaps thats why the EPL and other comps are popular world wide, becasue you never see a passionless game. I odnt actually think the AFL can establish relegation due to the money required to play in the comp. But if they actually think list management is tanking then perhaps they should investigate the posibility of introducing relegation.
  18. I agree that we should be looking to score over 100 points per game. the rest of the OP is basically just a roundabout way of saying we need to beat our oposition
  19. The AFL feel as though they need to tinker with the rules every year. if their tinkering is limited to outlawing gloves, well thats probably easier to take than if they decide to change the interpretation of fundimental rules like they have been doing recently.
  20. Blease's run and carry & footskills are too good to be confined to forward 50 only (IMO). He will play down there for periods but he needs to play in the midfield for longer periods (IMO). A fit Aaron Davey and Shannon Byrnes will do for another year or two
