  1. Gun mid with a good length kick. Adds something different to our midfield mix. Agree with posters above who say he could be in line for the 2017 B&F.
  2. Always been solid without being a star. The type of player you don't want to loose as you know he's more than a worthy back up best 22 player. Under the circumstances you cant begrudge him for wanting to find a club where he can play AFL footy.
  3. How bizaree is it to come to demonland to read good news for a change?!
  4. Thanks guys living in the UK atm so not seeinf the time line of each article being released doesn't help!
  5. On the AFL site's article Mahoney says something about jesse commiting with an asterix. Whats that about? "It is one of the earlier questions that a potential player asks is, 'What does your list look like in the next few years?'" Mahoney said. "We've been able to put Jesse Hogan's name there – maybe with an asterisk – but now we can put it there and put it alongside Jack Viney, Clayton Oliver, Angus Brayshaw, Dom Tyson, Tom McDonald, Christian Petracca http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-04/melbourne-to-offer-cam-pedersen-a-new-deal
  6. 4 years is a long time. I'd prefer to have Jesse for another 4 seasons than 0!
  7. lock 'em in for the long haul Dees!
  8. I think you nailed it when you said- 'deliberately downplayed his ability to soften the blow they think is coming when he leaves'
  9. I once bumped into the Wiz lining up for the toilets at subi oval. He wasn't wearing any colours though so I asked him where his allegiance lied. He didn't hesitate - Melbourne
  10. Pennant St Dee's confirmation in an earlier post is enough for me. For whatever reason the Hogan family must want the situation to remain private.
  11. even more reason to show some sensitivity towards the situation. The club should not even entertain telling Jesse that he needs to commit or be traded at this point in time. Reading between the lines and hearing his manager say that he believes he will play at the dees in 2017 aligns with this thinking too. People deal with loss and grief differently. He may decide that he needs to head home to be around his family. But similarly, he may feel that his old man would have wanted him to continue with the dees, so soldier on. Time will tell
  12. I believe its cancer, and he has months rather than years to live.
  13. people saying we should trade him now are totally overlooking the nature & criticality of his old man's illness. The club is doing 100% the right thing by giving Jesse space at this time.
  14. As a demons fan I will never question AFL handouts.... we've had plenty!
  15. Yep agree with that. Cant blame anyone for wanting to be around family during those sort of times, and to be honest if his old man passes and he decides he needs to get a trade to be with his family full time then I wont begrudge him for that either.
  16. If Hogans old man is terminally ill then I see the most likely situation is for us to give him space and him play for us next year. If the club push for the contract situation to be resolved (either way) while he quite clearly has bigger issues at play would be disrespectful IMO
  17. that article is nothing new IMO. Was always going to be this sort of article when he went home for his break
  18. funniest thing about ET's photo shop gag and the response thereafter is that Saty seems to be completely oblivious to the fact that ET's profile pic is Zach Galifianakis and seemingly thinks that ET is actually claiming to be there hahahaha
  19. I look forward to seeing him run out. The Milkshake seemed to kick goals and have good pace which we can never have enough of!
  20. Roger that. Nudge/Chilliboy used to do the best (ie. most outlandish) trade rumours ive ever seen.
  21. Flamingdees, you're not the poster previously known as Nudge/Chilliboy are you?!
  22. I actually found his B&F speeches hard to watch. He's a funny man, but was trying a little hard at times in those speeches. Fair enough I guess though - he had to speak 3 times His best work was in the Gawn in 60 seconds clips! quick witt
  23. A forward-ruck is like the Bowling allrounder in Cricket. Teams only have them because a good team had a good one once or twice. Just like the aussie test team shouldn't pick one for the sake of it, we shouldn't play one just because. Gawn has had a break out season and if he can maintain that sort of form he wont need much more than a chop out every now and then
