  1. I look forward to seeing him run out. The Milkshake seemed to kick goals and have good pace which we can never have enough of!
  2. I actually found his B&F speeches hard to watch. He's a funny man, but was trying a little hard at times in those speeches. Fair enough I guess though - he had to speak 3 times His best work was in the Gawn in 60 seconds clips! quick witt

Most of the other posts have the bulk of the names covered, however I wouldn't be surprised to see Lamumba retire as well

I reckon Freo knows more about his injury than they're letting on - if Fyfe is traded I'll assume he'll be injury prone throughout the remainder of the career. High risk / High reward for anyone thinking of taking him on IMO.
  5. Going to be a very handy player Slips under the radar and doesn't get half the media attention of Viney etc, but in time will be a very good player - another Father / Son success!

I think they see Oscar and Dunn on similar levels at this point. If Oscar doesn't grow in confidence and put in some good performances over the next couple of games I think Dunn will slot straight back in. But for the time being the coaches want to blood a young player and obviously don't think the difference between the two of them is large enough to stick with Dunny
  8. I convinced myself that Scully would stay. Hell I brought a jumper with #31 on it after that infamous 'one club' player presser. This time around Im not even going to let it bother me. I'm just going to enjoy watching footy this year and whatever happens happens. I think he seems like a loyal enough sort of guy, but you just don't know what outside factors could be at play here.

haha I thought rpfc was the same poster as E25 when i first joined this forum. But then i just realised there are plenty of posters on here who's opinion isnt just opinion, its fact!

RPFC in what universe is Tom McDonald more accomplished player than Jack Watts? He might be a better runner and he has a good attitude, but I've never seen a player with such poor skills and decision making get the wraps that Tom gets on here. Will be a good player in time, fine, but he's not there yet. Also naming Hogan as more accomplished before he plays a senior game for the club is a bit rich too!

Fat Matt Thompson has penned this epic piece http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-05-23/trio-required-players-neeld what a nothing article!

I remember when a 'friend of Tom Scully' said he would stay! Although Watts is a talented player, loosing a bloke who makes public comments like "we dont have a joel Selwood or a Luke Hodge to lift us when other teams get a run on" cant be seen as a huge loss. Loosing Sylvia for nothing would be worse

Watts will only leave if we are happy to see him go IMO. Which would mean a reasonable trade. I just cant see it myself. If he was playing champagne footy in a garbage side then yes, i could see him wanting out but in reality he is playing average footy in a garbage side. He'd also be confused as hell about what the media say about him. 9 days out of 10 he's a whipping boy - doesnt try hard enough and needs to get the best from himself, but then every blue moon some meathead will write an article about how he's a legend in the making that is being held back at the MFC. Hypocrisy at its finest. MFC will offer him some serious coin in his next contract because we have no other decent players to use the money on. I think he'll stay

Jones is the exact type of person that clubs want to draft - he's loyal and driven to get the best out of himself. He strikes me as the type of bloke that would turn down offers from rival clubs because he's a loyal bloke. He plays like he is loyal to the club too, regardless of who is coaching

I see parallels between the Melbourne Football Club and the Australian Cricket team. Melbourne had a period of success during Danaher’s time (top 8 finishes, grand final appearance in 2000, prelim 2006). In 2006-2008 the core of that side retired or were traded – All Australian players like Neitz, Yze, White, Robertson, and B&F winners like Travis Johnston. The Dee’s weren’t world beaters and the players weren’t as good as the aussie cricket team, but I see this mass retirement of the core of the team to be similar to when Hayden, Langer, Warne, McGrath, Symonds, Martin, Gilchrist retired. Brad Green & Cam Bruce were like Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey – a few surviving senior players in an otherwise very young side The MFC admin of the time were happy to gift games to talented youngsters based on talent alone, and I see that to be what Cricket Australia is doing by playing Hughes, Warner, Doherty, Maxwell etc. You end up with a situation where senior players get [censored] about the team selections not being based on current form alone & younger players in advertantly believing they dont need to prove anything to get a game The Melbourne situation spiralled out of control and culminated in a 186 point loss to Geelong at Kardinya Park. I’m tipping a 5-0 white wash for the aussies in the ashes.

  20. The big difference in my eyes is the fact that alcohol is legal and many of the drugs are illigal. Whilst i agree they both have similar risks in terms of addiction i think the fact that drugs are against the law means it society should make more of a deal about people using them. Social drug use is a crime, and those who take drugs socially are criminals in the eyes of the law. Yes, its a faily minor crime in the scheme of things, but if society made more of a deal about it and the punishments for possesion were harder we would have less crime, less broken homes etc etc. Thats another reason why i find it so hard to feel for drug adicts. They have knowingly broken the law.
  21. Agreed Old dee. The choice to dabble in hard drugs is one made by the individual. Its well documented that these substances have seriosus side effects. If the persons initial decision to try drugs ends up ruining their life, then they only have them selves to blame. People get all sympathetic with cousins' situation because he's a high profile sportsman. I dont see the same amount fo compasssion offered to the drug addicts that cant afford to pay for their habbits, who cause a great deal of crime in society. Even still, out of all of the groups in our society that deserve our support, time and effort, i think Drug Addicts get a better run than they deserve. Yes we should help them, but its not wrong to call them dumb for the decisions that they have made.

I respect gerard whateley but i find myself, on occasions, having to turn the radio off when Scwabb & Walls and Whateley are commentating on ABC radio. I find that they can very easily get into a negative rutt of bagging teams or players. Give me the light hearted styling of Brad Hardie, Graham "Smokey" Dawson & Adam Papalia any day of the week! haha

im sure he can too. Im just frustrated by all of these puff pieces on the clubs website, like Barrassi's birthday and now this blazer. I'd happily have no preseason activity on the site apart from match reports, injury updates & sponsorship info

i dont really care either way. Im sure players hold onto a few of their gurnseys for afetr they retire, now they have another pice of fabric that will gather dust?! Cam should focus on getting the FOJ sponsor on board instead of bringing back old traditions for the sake of nostalgia
