DemonWA replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
If he doesnt announce at the press conference that he's re-signing then its ablett take 2 and hes goneski if he's even considering shopping his contract around then he doesnt love the club as much as we all hope and hes interested in the $$$ side of things. GWS have more $$$ to offer so he'll go -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
DemonWA replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
I heard he's delaying contract talks until the end of the year so he can sign a 5 year deal with the club he loves, the Tigers. He's just letting them have enough time to do their version of debt demolition so that they can afford his salary this post has been made to demonstrate how much speculation is contained in some of these posts!! -
I think the footy public will put alot of pressure on Jack Watts to deliver this year, it'll be interesting to see if he can/does there are'nt many players who i'd say arent about to embark on a "crunch year" Guys like Silvia, Davey, Jamar, Green etc are expected to continue to deliver the goods. Guys like scully, trengove, Jordie Mac are expected to improve on a promising year last year Batram, Dunn, Petterd showed some of their best form at the club but the they need to back up their form this eyar to prove they are worthy of a decent wrap Martin, Jetta, Maric and a host of others have been on the list for a while without playing much senior footy - you'd expect them to have to show something sooner or later?

Gysberts found the footy in his first few outings but i think its a big call to have him in a top 5 when he's such an unknown. Same goes with Blease. And those that are saying Jack Viney is a future super star are also being more optamistic than i'd like to be - maybe make that assesment in a few more years! I'm not a huge fan of Jones or Beamer in current form, but they can play a role. Jones was very promising in his 1st year just like the current crop. Jones is still pretty damn young so could eaily shape his game and become a valuable player for us. And finally I hope we go on to win flags with this crop, but im not going to sit here ragging out on the guys who put their all into playing for the club just because i dont think they're flag potential - they all deserve our support carn the Dees!

good new, i'll buy a new gurnsey with #31 on the back when he resigns -
Molony didnt play well but as people have said its premeture to be calling for his head after one bad NAB cub game Jones also frustrated me with his over zealous tackles (giving away free kicks) and his attempts to bust through takles and "take on the game" - he needs to play to his strengths which arent being superman / Judd ALot of the guys sold others into trouble by overusing the handball too. Thankfully round one isnt for a good few weeks yet!

nixon is a tool - no doubt, but its funny how he's being made out as the bad guy but when the Saints players were making headlines it was the girl who was the villan....

. Hard to read because its the biggest load or garbage i've ever read! An undoubtedly self indulgent post with a crack pot theory to boot!
-
haha we need more blokes like Beemer!! If tom scully leaves i'd have no issues boing him and calling him Judas. The club probably harp on a little too much about our rich history and tradition, but surley the kid understands what the #31 means.... Jimmy might need to start another fundraising campain like debt demolition...but not to iradicate debt, to be able to hold onto our players!

Who will take the reins from Junior..?
DemonWA replied to demondomination's topic in Melbourne Demons
i agree that he would really be honoured if he was appointed skipper. I also think he has 3-5 years left to play in our midfield, which would alow somone like Grimes, or another younger player to be given the captaicy once they've properly proven themelves. Green is getting older. Dont get me wrong he is an absolute Jet, but lets just say he did have a form slump in the next year or two? I hate to say it but with his age he's one quiet season away from being mentioned in "list management" discussions... -

I would hope that if Davey got the nod the extra responsibility would kick him into a more mature mindset. He also lets a hard tag get to him mentally....maybe the captaincy would help him in this area?! -

i reckon Beemer or Davey will get it. The next skipper they appoint will be a more long term one i thing, so that would rule out Green and Bruce who probably have 2-3 years left before they get shafted like the rest of the guys fron the Daniher era!? -
I'm fairly critical of Jones myself, but come on! Gysberts has polayed a handfull of AFL games & Tapscott & Blease are yet to make their debut....hardly proven AFL players.... A few years ago when Jones first made the side he was very promising and frankly one of our berometers - if jones was having a good day we'd be having a pretty good day. I agree that we all wish he was a superstar now, but just becasue he's got a big body doesnt mean he has reached his potential. On current form i dont really mind if he gets a game every week, but i think if he can impove on a few things here and there he'll be a major part of the midfield in the coming years. With the improvement Dunn & Barty have shown i'd be hesitant to write of any of the guys on our list!

Hawks come out all guns blazing to show up Kennett's comments... Dee's peg back the lead but fall short Im predicting a similar result to the freo match
-
and Woosha states in post match interviews that the eagles could challenge for the flag in a few years...... no doubt that he is showing good signs each week and is improving, but i reckon he still struggles to play 4 good quarters (as almost every player does). If he had got a nomination for any of his games this year it would only be becasue he was last years #1 pick. Jordie on the other hand is unlucky!!!
-
they have the whole off season to rest! They get payed to play!
-
McKenzie deserves a nomination - he has had a great year Consistency of Watts??? I'd say his form has been up and down like a promisquese girl's pants! The only this that has been consistant about his year has been that you can count on him to show a couple of flashes of brilliance along with some blatant clangers (dropped marks, fumbles etc) each week!
-
i think its funny that every thing Jack Watts does that is good gets talked about. The Kick to Dunn in the goal square showed good vision, but i dont think it would have been talked about if anyone else had done it!
-
I reckon Brad Miller should get a spot in the 22 next week. If he doesnt, then all of the guys at casey may as well be told to hang up their boots for the rest of the year. The club want competition for spots, but if they dont reward outstanding performances in the 2's then there isn't a copetition at all! I think we could easily find a spot in the 22 for a player who has just turned in a 10 goal performance. PJ, Wona & Watts could all posibly make way IMO. PJ - would be unlucky as he is filling a role in the side at the moment, but Jamar could probably handle the Hawks big men on his own? Watts - no way they'll drop him, but i think he needs to score more than he does if he's going to play as a forward. Otherwise we may as well play him on a wing Wona - would be unlucky to miss but i think if we're serious about the whole competition for places then a 1 goal / tackling pressure game doesnt hold up compared to 10 goals
-
B : Bartram, Frawley, Bruce HB : Macdonald, Garland, Grimes C : Trengove, Moloney, Davey HF : Sylvia, Watts, Dunn FF : Jurrah, Green, Bennell FOL: Jamar, McKensie, McDonald © INT: Rivers, Jones, Scully, Petterd EMG: Johnson, Bail, Morton THIS!
-
Rioli is over rated - it will hurt the Hawks a little but i dont think it will have a major impact on our chances at all
-
This thread might be worse than the one where blokes are saying they'd prefer to see us miss out on the finals?! Cox and Kerr have no place on the dee's list and i reckon they would be likley to retire if the eagles were planning to move them on. Cox is way past it, but will play on for a year or two more while Natinui becomes a football player & Kerr (without injury) is a better player than 100% of their young midfielders. If they are looking long term they should look to pick up some good young talent (maybe by trading their senior players) and get rid of woosha becasue he doesnt seem to coach / develop the younger players.
-
i've seen this "core" player term used in other threads and dont agree with its use. Cam Bruce may not be as good as he was a few season ago, but i would deffinatley say he's one of the core players on our list at the moment. I'd say that all of the more senior guys make up the core of the playing group/are the core of the team - Cam Bruce, Brad Green, Jimmy Mac, Riv, Beamer etc I remember a few seasons ago when Cam Bruce would have been a shot for the brownlow had he not gotten injured - absolute star in his prime He sat on our table at the Western Demons function earlier this year and he's a Great bloke too
