  1. As does Beamers "Attempting to Strike" ,Pavlich getting off plus Jackson and Tambling's 1 week, in the week just past. What a lot of rubbish, I doubt if this could be right and would set a very stupid preceedent for the MRP for the rest of the year. Chapman & Co. will get 6 months! Nothing in it and if there is a charge it should definitely be challenged. Hawthorn , Geelong and Collingwood tackle like we did yesterday on a weekly basis. We need to follow suit and in fact go even harder.
  2. Warnock got better as the day wore on. I thought he did well and ran out the game strongly. He always cops a good opponent and never gets an easy day. Tippett is a large and quality unit. Matty looked fit and despite the size differential never took a backward step. I realise he can look a little clumsy at times, but there are way more positives than negatives with Matty Warnock. Good, hard bodied impact player to have up back. I thought he grasped his opportunity.
  3. One change for Grimy if he's unable to play.
  4. Chicken's right less than 20,000 there today. Don't worry about the club making excuses for it's performance. I wish we had more supporters who were consistent!
  5. Exactly, Fork em!
  6. Our depth of bigger bodied blokes looks very thin. Thought Spencer would have been a chance.
  7. Did Troy Davis play? No mention of him.
  8. Seems amazing, on what I have seen, that he would miss the TAC squad.
  9. You might like to consider for a second where we were before these blokes and JS arrived. It seems we have one unit of the concern underperforming, off the rails a bit if you like. I'm sure the club will give those in charge and involved in that unit a reasonable chance to correct the position. In the event that satisfactory improvement is not evident corrective action then has to come from the board. Its all part of the process, so no need for panic and certainly no need to hang anyone just yet.
  10. How is Troy Davis's health progress? Did he saddle up for Casey?
  11. Go in small against the crows on a dry day at your own peril. I don't think they can leave the side the same, would simply be repeating last weeks mistake.
  12. So Brad Green is the reason the clubs got a soft underbelly is it. Good, I'm glad we got that one settled. Funny I seem to recall him running backward, sideays, headlong into backs and risking his own personal safety on numerous occaisions. Also recall him overcoming obstacles in the past. He's struggling at the moment for sure but I think we owe him a little respect. You're entitled to your opinion and in part I can understand your sentiments, we are all hurting, but I wouldn't be executing our leader just yet.
  13. Brad Green has been/is a wonderful ambassador for our club. I am pleased he represents us and no other club. As a player and representative of the football department he actually has the runs on the board and stood the test of time. Moreover he has given his heart and soul for the place and remained loyal ( a novel quality in the era of the mercenary).I cannot recall or imagine him ever been in troble or causing concern for those running the club. Not a bad role model I would have thought. It seems to me that he has been somewhat thrust into the leadership position which would be a fair challenge for anyone with our young side and now some want to rip into him for appearing on a TV show for 5 minutes. This bloke is closer to the end of his playing football journey than its commencement and he would be the first to acknowledge his form could have been better but I'm confident he will deal with these challenges just like he always has. Great clubman Greeny and he can go on 20 TV shows if he likes. He's one bloke you leave alone.
  14. Notice The Kangaroos have selected last years deaft pick Harper for his first game and other clubs such as Adelaide have played Brodie Smith, Brisbane - Polec, Carlton - Watson & Duigan , Essendon Heppell and of course all the Suns new faces etc etc. We have used Tapscott, Trengove, Scully & Gysberts from two years ago and they have all stood up, but nothing from last years draft. How come other clubs throw them in and toughen them up and we don't?
  15. "Our recruiting seems to generally take the safe option with skilled light framed nice boys. I just don't get it." I don't either Theo. Where is our Cooney, Griffin, Judd, Selwood ?
  16. Don't worry, entirely of our own making we have given the media a couple of large targets. They don't generally miss.
  17. Lack of defensive pressure and intensity from the forwards should see Bennell, Jurrah, Wona, Martin ,Green and Moreton come under the spotlight. Hope big Spence, Cook, Petterd ,Bate, Joel Mac and Warnock have blinders for the Scorps.
  18. Having nearly 35,000 members the clubs going to hear from a lot more people.
  19. I'm not convinced he's been great as a list manager at all. Will agree that he made some hard culling calls, but we have so many small players. Poor old Jamar was simply overwhelmed and our foward line ex Watts are bloody midgets. Cook and Co. miles off, Martin gentle enough to tap dance on a cake without dinting it.
  20. The football department have been in a lovely cosy place for three years on the basis of "she'll be right Jack" and selling us the story that our recruits are still some years off!!! Not so sure that Collingwood / Carlton/Hawthorn the clubs that demand success or their supporters would buy that message for as long as we have. Anyhow not so cosy now, with the clock ticking loudly. But in all jobs you eventually become accountable and exposed, so the next three/four weeks should tell that story. Up to Connelly and his team to sort that out very quickly or presumably be invited to 'pracice excellence elsewhere' by the media. You can't have excuses forever. The sad part was that the performance was no better than three years ago and tonight we had practically a full list. The pertinent point here is that we weren't just beaten, but completely thrashed, brushed aside and totally outclassed by a mob who finished behind us last year. P.S. Didn't see much wrong with Darling tonight and clearly a ready to go player with no waiting period , I also note the top teams have big strong, tough, fast run allday, midfielders and one maybe two lightly framed small outside finishers. We have Wona, Davey, Bennell, Bartram throw in Jones perhaps. Just too many small players for mine and you can add Jetta and Maric to boot. How many smalls do you want on the list? We appeared very small and mismatched against far bigger opposition tonight. Jack Watts was a bright light up against huge odds with little support.
  21. Was thinking exactly the same thing btdemon. I too went to the Geelong v. Hawks game yesterday and noticed how tough, strong and uncomptomising both sides midfields were. Didn't actually need to be reminded of the Hawks I suppose, due to our earlier game against them, but Geelong went even harder at it. Just felt their body strength and totally fearless approach to winning the ball is their key driver. Whilst both sides had lightly framed players in Rioli and Varcoe to finish, it seemed to me the rest were big strong running types who bashed and crashed until they won the ball. Whilst I admire and acknowledge West played tough and hard, I found it interesting that Beamer had also come through the "Geelong School" and I seem to recall they were somewhat reluctant to lose him. After yesterday Silvia , Beamer and Trengove in the middle for me.
  22. Sounds like a typical journo 'beat up' to try and create a story out of nothing to me. Normal sort of destabilisation crap that goes on when things are quiet. Jimmy's smarter than that and wont fall for it. If we improve on last year the coach should be allowed to stay, if we don't we should consider the position. Simple. The off field performance of the club is clearly apparent and our onfield performance will become clearer in a couple of months and completely measurable at the end of the year. So what's the problem? FD's fate is in its own hands, we are 2 1/2 and going ok, younger players improving and I hope it continues. We are in a lot better place than we used to be.
  23. Someone called him a 'wrecking ball' in one of the papers. Rather liked that.
  24. He presents well upfront when down there. Capable of taking big marks, crashing hard into opposition defenders, opening up space for the likes of Wona and Bennell, can cause opposition sides to alter their structure which can then free up space for other forwards. I don't mind it when he's in operation as a weapon in our forward line. He is a very good player these days and works very hard.
