Agree the premium tarriff is important , by my calculations using CPI power increases and our useage capital payback should be 5 - 7 years with a 3k system. Two more important words 'support sponsors'. If they support the Gold Coast Suns as well thats nice.

Yes I was happy with the quote and placed order which is now in train. Club picks up a couple of hundred I think.
-
That's not such a bad injury list for this time of the season is it.
-
Jack Fitzpatrick is 200cm forward who from all accounts is on track and did well on the weekend. The West Coast defence is good but not overly tall. I think he might be worth a chance. What do we have to lose? We have not kicked a lot of goals over the past two weeks and would assist Jurrah, Silvia,( believe they should be in) Watts & Green from a bit of heavy work. Robbie Campbell is also a big bodied unit unlikely to be fazed at all by Cox,Lynch,Nic Nat and co. With unfortunate injury to Strauss could be the time to check his value on the list and a real challenge for him personally. Tom McDonald 194cm defender and we may need some size back there as well. Maybe worthwile to have as the sub as he can play both ends. I wouldn't be disappointed if they all got their chance from Casey this week..

Thanks for that AoB was going to go today but the Leader of the Opposition thought yesterday was enough. So did I on reflection. Morton news good as he's copped plenty.

Let's hope the stand alone clubs provide some membership slippage to us in our target area.

IMO the Casey/Demons relationship isn't always going to be easy, but has potential upside. Happy to give it a chance.

Its a lot more than being about Casey or the VFL, but if I bought your argument (which I don't), Your solution to increasing the membership base is? Your solution to funding going it alone is? Your solution to finding a territory you own is? It's not that hard to identify the problem but its a lot harder to find the solution

Not sure how your comment relates to the topic, but I am somewhat surprised at your remark Hangon. We simply do not have the critical mass nor financial viability at this point to consider such a potentially dangerous and short term action of pumping huge sums into our own VFL side. Such a proposal for us is simply dreaming. Further in our position you don't just pull very scarce resources from elsewhere to address such an issue, even if you wanted to go this way. Instead it seems to me the club are looking longer term in trying to build some critical mass in the growth corridor in and around Casey. Unless someone has a better idea of how to grow our supporter base, I'm happy to run with this as we also have the support of a large and growing council in achieving a win /win partnership. As somebody else said "We are sort of building the plane as we are flying it". I live nowhere near Casey but have been to watch several games there. The last time I went was against Collingwood earlier this year. I thought at that time, about how much had been achieved in such a short term, how good the ground was, that the amenities were all very new, facilites public friendly and overall what a good facility it was becomming and the best bit is that we has sole access to it. Sadly we are not much more than a co-tennant at the "G" these days, when we get a chance to play there, usually on a Sunday afternoon.. Frankly I think it has been a brave, modern and untraditional move which is a bit unusual for us, but I'm glad we've had the nuts to give it a crack. Who knows one day we might own the South East Corridor of Melbourne or at least a decent slice of it. Hangon from your previous remarks you are clearly a proponent to playing games in Darwin to secure a better financial outcome for the club, for mine a reasonable position to take as long as you don't kill your players doing it, so I am surprised at your stance re our VFL side. What about it's potential benefits at Casey? We are not alone in our initiative, check out what Hawthorn and Richmond have done. Oh and the Hawthorn players have big muscles too!

We get exploited each week now with being unable to match up on the Gorilla forwards and next week the Eagles have several of them . No harm blooding McDonald and Davis if they go ok tom.

Just a kid who either needed to back to the twos to rediscover some confidence or understand he must work harder. Not many have avoided this process at some point. He was an All Australian Under 18 and I feel sure he will respond in the right way.

Attempt to devalue any compensation picks if required? He was a politician. He already knew Anderson said it wasa non issue.

"Would make an excellent read..I hope it is made available at some stage....We did pay for it. " I have no agenda nor any idea what would be in the Andrews report, but I too would be interested in a professional, independent outside view of our club.

Myth busting facts about the MFC
Dockett 32 replied to Hazyshadeofgrinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
How can we post a loss if we are only at 92.5% of salary cap and with increased membership?. CS recently said we could pay Scully a milliona year if we wanted to? Goosd question on the Andrews report. If we are to be transparent why isn't it on the website? -
Hmmm, ok & tks. Seems I'm a slow learner, but the fog is now lifting a little. You have now created a few issues for me to try and get my head around. Think I might have been better off not trying to understand.

"Warnock, Bartram and McDonald are 3 players who probably could expect to get a game if their form was good enough, but if Schwab has told the football department not to play them for whatever reason they have every right to be [censored]. If it's to save money then they have even more right, this is, after all, their job." Explosive! Is this a hypothetical? If not please substantiate.

"When the goin gets tough OD, you know the drill". Understand the disappointment there is no one on here who is not [censored] off, but you might want to slip down and buy a coulpe of new ones tomorrow.

Brett Clothier obliged to investigate Melbourne's 'tanking'
Dockett 32 replied to Eth's topic in Melbourne Demons
"He also said on Triple M that we should have future draft picks taken off us. I think he is trying to create a new story out of nothing." Ok they can have no.96 and 114 or whatever we cop this year. What a legend. -
Just went and paid next years membership on the back of Pat Smith. Thanks mate I just needed a stupid jab from someone like you to realise the only way is up for us. Had a dose of the "Oh no- poor me stuff for a couple of days" been suddenly realised that we have been going nowhere, living on unfulfilled promises and that finally, after yet another brutal monstering, JS has grasped the nettle and acted. Typically he hasn't dodged the issue or sat on his hands. The first under performer has been relieved of his post. Unfortunate but necessary corrective action. How does the old song go " Pick yourself up dust yourself off and start all over again", well I don't think we have to start all over again ( far from it) but the joint obviously needed a shake up and its got some with maybe a bit more to come. In house bitching can become a cancer and has to be cut out. Unlike Pat Smith I believe the MFC stands for plenty, but if we dont get the required results, just as it happens in any business, I feel sure others may also be asked to practice excellence elsewhere. Every now and then you have to put the train back on the rails.

"Jamar (injured or not, he was poor)," Interesting comment. All Australian last year and deservedly so, but this year ? If unjured he shouldn't be playing, if he's not injured how do you rate his form ,presence, protection of kids and general influence paticularly against the top sides? IMO probably should have a run at Casey, but will probably survive against some of the Carlton bigger units but Max should be there as well.

Connolly keeping a low profile it would seem. What has his contribution to the club been thus far?
-
Chapman from Geelong would do me thanks.

In Joel Macdonald (if right - I can never understand him not being picked when available) Tom McDonald, Troy Davis, Max Gawn, Bartram, Davey, Warnock in. Out - pull em out of a hat ex Jordie and Watts, but list should include a number of senior players and a few of our midgets.

FRACTURED FAIRY TALES AND OTHER FANTASIES
Dockett 32 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Selectors have certainly shown great faith in a few, perhaps for the last time with Tom McDonald and Max Gawn named as emergencies.
