  1. Agree and it shouldn't simply be offloaded to Adelaide to assist them in their Polac aspirations. For them its out Vince in Polec and the good old demons will make it happen for us. ( How about we make a greater effort to get Polac for starters?) We want Sloan and everyone on here tells me its out of the question, yet many also cant wait to get rid of a twenties pick to grab a C grader who may struggle to get a game at his own club. Adelaide must be quietly giggling their heads off. We already have enough C graders thanks and I reckon we should ask Adelaide to do a little better or live on the outer for a while. If they can get what they want elsewhere fine, but I don't see why we should be the soft targets.
  2. Wouldn't it be a lot simpler to give Adelaide a chance to get back in the draft with 2 for Sloan. Being locked out of the draft is bad medicine.
  3. Shouldn't this be all over by 9.05 Monday? Sloan to Melbourne for 2, Vince to Melbourne for a second rounder or else Adelaide to live in darkness for quite some time? Am I missing something?
  4. What's the rush? someone will standout this year.
  5. That would leave them with three juniors and going nowhere. But that's ok and we would still have pick two. So if we get to dance it should be an absolute roaring cracker, otherwise we are either in good shape or will have traded dumb..
  6. At the end of the day we have pick 2 and GWS don't need or require Boyd. So others can either dance with GWS or us. Personally don't give one "black rats". Show us something really good or our next option looks pretty handy this draft.
  7. We need mids alright and quite a number of them. Clearly no argument at all there. Whilst its hard enough to find mids, it took us an absolute eternity to find a few big blokes, so I wouldn't be chucking out an up and comer for the reasons previously stated. In addition there is a cloud over Clarke and Dawes missed quite a few games . Further, I note that the rosters of Hawthorn, Geelong, Swans and others have numerous big bodies . Take a look at the Swans for instance, Pike, Tippet, Reid, Mumford, White ( pre trade of course) and now they add BF. So I think Roos might like bigger bodies. We should end up with some tradeable draft picks 20's , 30's and compo, plus some tradeable ( smaller) players who just haven't cut it. Other clubs still have to cull further too, so I doubt if we have anywhere near the full picture yet. Early days.
  8. Sorry disagree. Fitzy did ok on occasion last year. He is also 200cm+, young ,fast and coming on. If someone wants a ruckman from us for Savage ( who currently is essentially a VFL player) I believe we have other options, but not someone on the up. Also would like to see what Roos can do with Fitzy. IMO we would be getting well and truly screwed offering up Fitzy on a smaller type at this point. We simply need to see more of what Fitzy can do.
  9. and or basic economics for Adelaide , like do they want to be in the draft this year.
  10. Correct. Clearly a crock of a system cooked up by the players association, stronger clubs and player managers and fully endorsed by the AFL. The sad thing is was always going to end up like this. Just taken a bit longer than many thought. So welcome to the new "no loyalty, bargain bonanza" available only to those with strong balance sheets or COLA benefits, or other subsidised fledgling clubs . Equalization trips? Worthless jaunts.
  11. Don't worry, they are in the age bracket some on site love to go after. Could be a great recruiting opportunity for us next year.
  12. Disagree, think he's slow, spends a lot on the ground and is cooked. If he's still got it, the bulldogs would simply not get rid of a good player. Dads army job for mine.
  13. If he goes I suspect we might hear something on the subject from the Hawks. Might be fun.
  14. Turn it up! What's this another one for the MFC retirement home. No thanks
  15. True. Their midfield is pretty handy but up forward ,except for flashes of Pav ,they looked ordinary. I wonder where they might be looking for one in the next year or two? Reckon we might be on notice.
  16. Agree with the marketing perspective. Howe could be a "marquee player" a la Capper, up there and a forward set up of Cameron, Buddy and Howe would be formidable. On the other hand we would want something very good in return. Adams is probably a win/win IMO. If Buddy doesn't go, then we maybe Howe's value goes even higher.
  17. Old , injury prone, not huge, not quick , best footy behind him. We could end up with Byrnes, Chapman and Pederson all doing a good job for us at Casey if we are not careful. Lets not jump at every bloke getting cut from a list just yet. He's been a great player but don't we want an "A" Grader who's going to be with us for a while? Someone like Sloan. He's in the same boat as Cross IMO and if they had high contribution levels left they will/ would have been kept by their clubs. Whilst we may need experienced players, how about we raise our sights ,we don't want to become a retirement home.
  18. Yes, a very good type of bloke to have at our club. Quality comes through when times are tough. Reinforces why we should stick fat with the joint.
  19. Probably right re Bailey and Prendergast, but I disagree re Watts ability to win contested contests. One on one, I thinks he's pretty good, even better in space. His speed, size and skill set serve him well in those situations IMO. In a key position and even worse a crowded key position he struggles for sure,( never really had the body size) but then again we haven't had a decent key position forward since Neita and we aren't the only club that falls down in that area. With the anticipated debut of Hogan , plus Dawes and Clark, perhaps the use of Watts will change to capitalize on his strengths. Larger Stevie Johnson would be nice.
  20. What like Hawthorn and Geelong? Don't be silly, we don't do that sort of stuff.
