  1. Im not sure why people are so quick to dismiss this. If hogan was to go to perth this year then in some ways this trade makes good sense. Pav has retired and hogan would be the perfect replacement. With luck with injuries he has another 10 years of top shelf footy. And we need a true a grade mid badlly and i suspecy fyfe would be positive about where were at and goodwin's style. As brilliant as fyfe is there is a big chance he will leave after his contract ends at tbe end of 2017. This has been openly discussed. He is 24 so has left footy left and of most significance he is coming off two very serious injuries. Who knows if he will get back to his best. Finally the timing lines up for both clubs in terms of when both players contrats end. That's to say both clubs will have far less leverage in the market if both players are out of contract.
  2. No they won't. It will be the hottest ticket in town
  3. Jesus. Settle petal. #hitanerve You misunderstand me and perhaps i was unclear. You have made it abundantly clear, over and over again, what it is that so annoys you about GNF and Saty. I get that. How could i fail to. What i don't get is the incredible level of angst it causes you (as evidenced by your above post). Saty has made it clear he is winding you up (and i have little doubt GNF doenst mind winding you up a little) yet you bite every time and give him more oxygen, not to mention pleasure and motivation to write more annoying stuff. Anyway carry on.
  4. DD what is about GNF and saty that so clearly upsets you? They ring your bell so much it reminds me of that Mars bar add of the monks going crazy with the bells (inset gif here)? I honestly don't understand why if it they cause you so much angst you just don't put them on ignore. If either were trolls, and i'm not suggesting they are (well that's not entirely true, one of them has all the hallmarks of one) they must find your (and others) inability to stop yourself responding, and doing so with so much venom, hilarious. I mean if they were trolls this is exactly what they are looking for. Any way different strokes for different folks, whatever floats you boat etc etc
  5. Indeed. In addition the players in the NFL and NBA (not sure about baseball) have almost always come via the college system and i would hazard a guess that in the overwhelming majority of cases they had to move away from their home city or state to attend the college that recruited them. So not only are they older and more mature they've had 2 or 3 years of getting used to living far from home.
  6. Well here's a post that lives up to the thread title! I'm going to do my best not to pancic. Besides Melbourne is at its absolute best in Spring so perhaps that will sway him
  7. Agree. I think he'll stay. Even if there is a big pull to live near family i honestly can't see how attractive Freo would be to go to as a club (its funny how all the talk is freo and not WC at all, though i suppose they have Kennedy). They're now in a rebuild and realistically 2-3 years behind us in terms of that rebuild. They don't have that many young guns on the list. As i've noted the travel factor is a huge negative, particularly for a KP with a history of back issues. And i reckon Ross Lyon would be a pretty intimating coach and i wonder how Jesse would go with him.
  8. No the question is what is the point of this thread?
  9. Seriously? Watts is arguably the best kick in the league.
  10. As Stuie noted wires crossed. my fault for being unnecessarily obtuse. If Port trade out hartlett they will 100% want a high draft pick they can use this year, not next year so if it were us we would, as you have said, have to do something creative. I don't think your idea would fly though because there is every chance our first round next year will be a lateish first rounder, not a top 10 pick (keeping in mind GC already bet and lost on a future draft pick with us). Perhaps we could trade next years first round pick and a couple of players for one of GC or GWS's first round picks. Though i don't know who really as anyone we don't want wont be attractive to either of those clubs. We would have to offer up one of our best 22 i reckon and i'm not keen on that option. You don't build a dynasty by trading out the building blocks.
  11. Yes i know that. We traded our first rounder last year to GC which is why we can't trade it to Port this year. I would assume if Port wanted to trade HH they want a first rounder in the upcoming draft not next year, hence my comment.
  12. How do we get a first round draft pick to give to them?
  13. Famous last words. It actually shows how important Spencer is to us
  14. Not sure we had much choice but none the less a huge loss. A gun and i reckon one of the most underated players in my considerable time of watching footy. I would love him to come home
  15. Unless they have already traded it ( ie in the previous year) as we did last year.
  16. This might be a stupid question but are you saying the deal is done on hibberd and if so what is the deal?
  17. Almost all players these days are completely one sided so that is a moot point. His advantage is he is a left footer which is very important from the hb line as it so often opens options up the field as players instinctively cover the right side. I have no doubt it is key reason were keen on him. That and the fact he can consistently hit targets 50-60 metres away meaning he can kick over the zone and put players like braysue, trac, kent and garlett running into space in our forward 50. This is a key wlement of our game plan
  18. Sums up my feeling very well. I shouldn't be but i amazed how deflated last week's game left me.
  19. I'd take Harvey. But only as a runner. He has two of the required attributes. He can run and he can talk. Perhaps he could also sledge opposition players. On second thoughts i don't want him at the club. Even as a runner.
  20. Terrific. More comedy gold. I assume the irony in the above post is deliberate (or at least i hope it is) - if so then points for the satire and well played. If not.......
  21. That's an excellent point. I was saying to a mate that regardless of the outcome this experience will be invaluable ie playing games under pressure. the next two games are akin to elimination finals in a sense, with one against a top 4 side at a hostile ground. Such good experience for a young team and we are lucky to be in this position. Compare taht to the Tigers Saints game today. What did either side get out of that dirge.
  22. Bull played well then
  23. Good on Hibberd. I hope we get him.
  24. I reckon the fact he was emergency so often suggests he is in their thinking. the dogs have shown this year how critical it is to have a big group of players who play at a high level in the VFL and come into the senior idea and fit straight into the system and play their role.
