  1. A & B graders produce those stats and hit targets week in week out. C graders don't. Jones doesn't. Premiership teams produce A & B graders, mostly. C graders that perform a consistent role regularly also. Jones is none of these three and his role is still quite undefined. He played well yesterday.
  2. This debate will never end until he is kicking 8 a game or been traded.
  3. Wouldn't suggest it's anything other than a disgusting act.
  4. Was fine for the first game of the year, barely. Cringe worthy.
  5. If on fire perhaps.
  6. Many instances where a player in red & blue hesitates. I don't need to name players as I'm not slagging anyone off, watch the tape and the evidence is there. The difference in desperation and sheer bloody head over the pill football that Gysberts displayed stood out from many others. Some might throw themselves into a contest as a bit of an 'act' through a game, but it's the players that consistently hunt in for the ball with a desire to improve an outcome selflessly for the side that I want. Not enough display that trait, thankfully Gysberts does and that is who this thread is about?
  7. When you gotta go. Not great is it? Going to be a presser shortly.
  8. Considering his first qtr it was a fantastic game. I thought he grew more as Frawley got more involved in the game.
  9. Moloney was good but his turn overs by foot are frustrating. 37 touches perhaps allows a turnover or three.
  10. Good call. Though it was brief his two shots at goal showed more penetration and I reckon he'd be much more damaging pushing further up. Ideally winning more of the football as a team will allow him to do this.
  11. I'd like to see Rick Petterd back. Jamie Bennell is one that needs to get some more damn urgency in his game, he has talent but is lucky to keep surviving. Dunn was pretty ordinary today and would do well to stop worrying about giving it to opponents and more concern with getting a kick. Deserves another chance or two yet. Perhaps Morton might be interchanged with Watts as a sub this week but I'd like to see Watts play a full one. A run at Casey could await if he can't have some decent influence against GC so hopefully he gets that chance. No change, Morton to start with either Dunn or Bennell as the sub would be my call.
  12. My 3yr olds first game today and thankfully he knows know better so sang with gusto. Rapt for him. Sadly agree with you 100%. Too many are seemingly hesitant and unsure of both a direction and too often a desire to go much harder. Our turn overs and poor kicking seem to be more a fear of being hit than a fear of looking poorly skilled with the football.
  13. That run out on the Southern Stand wing shows the confidence is growing. Great competitor and has much going for him.
  14. Reckon Jurrah still has to put some more work into that side of his game. Davey being tagged out of a game again, Green slow out of the blocks for 2011. Not enough head over the ball stuff for my liking. Jamars kicking for goal let him down but was otherwise a leader as usual. Gysberts was outstanding, Rivers much better and Frawley looking good which is a huge plus. Grimes looked good/better when pushing further forward. The Great: My 3 year old son's debut at the 'G today. Loved singing the Grand Old Flag.
  15. Indeed.
  16. Not a brilliant call to bring him back cold and make him a sub. Would have been better having a run for Casey IMO. Looking forward to when he's had more of a run.
  17. Tapscott was strong over the ball again but not Rising Star worthy. Gys is a freaking star whether he gets a trophy for it or not, he might well be the best of all our future mids.
  18. 6. Gysberts. This guy impresses the absolute hell out of me and I'm giving him a biased best on. Everything he does, in the 4 games he's played has an impact. He's a favourite already. 5. Rivers 4. Jamar 3. Moloney 2. Jurrah 1. Martin
  19. I hope your right WYL as far as a comprehensive showing from us. I expect we will win but youthful enthusiasm can gather some momentum. Maybe not through a season but certainly one off games here and there. We have our own mountain to climb as far as interstate records etc.
  20. nathan2jones Great to have Aussie back & Jordie Gys in!! Both in super form! & worked super hard to get their chance. Stoked for em!!
  21. Shame that you use the term 'shame' to describe these players. You write some decent stuff c&b. This is far from one of the decent posts I've seen from you.
  22. I wouldn't be referring to them as the 'fold' at this stage WYL. Could be a bit presumptuous considering our own great ability to fold as a club. Not sure anyone with an MFC involvement can be that dismissive? I'd like to be though!
  23. This will do. A concentrated effort is what I expect. No expectations on margins as any 4 pts received for MFC are hard earned still.
  24. No, that was Sandra Sully's site. www.sullytospray.com.au Too far?
  25. About sums this up. I liked the look of Darling and wanted him but others around here seemed too concerned about his character. But the club went with Cook and surely what they saw is enough for all of us to back these decisions. For 2 years at the very very least and more possibly 3 even 4 years. The only question I'd ask at this stage of BP and the recruiting group is, do they pick home grown as a priority? Ie - if Darling and Cook were both from Victoria, would we have taken Darling? If Nic Nat and Watts were both from Vic, would we have taken Nic? So many pro's and con's for both sets of players. Hopefully we don't have the lads that take the longest to fill their potential.
