  1. Morton2Watts.....love the avatar!!
  2. There seems to be a fair bit of mail on Jack playing but not much on the likely exclusion for him???? Would love to see him play and get a bit of continuity with this fantastic young group, but I can't see him playing yet from what I hear (which is only media talk that starts with DB). Assumptions for replacements are straight forward - Dunn or PJ. Dunn deserves more of a run....he has limitations when you stack him up against some of the other talent, his commitment is NOT limited and deserves the spot....Cale Morton will be coming for his spot I would imagine. PJ? The Russian has had a super year thus far, the last two weeks he has been a bit less of an influence....maybe being the lone ruckman works better for Russian even having to go against Cox and # 2 08 Draft pick (what's his name?) and a Dunn, Bruce maybe could be used to run off (whats his name?). Therefore: In - Watts Out - Johnson
  3. Just a minor observation Dr....can I start the thread "Harry O knocks back Obama meeting to meet with Demons"?!
  4. Hi there....are these still being sold? Great idea and would love to get one
  5. The DEMONS...ALWAYS the DEMONS!!! The stupid block Melbourne FC logo was horrible.....love the Retro Dees T-shirt that has come out in the last few mths. The Red Devils (Manchester United) are the richest most successful sporting organisation on the planet....I am sure China residents are more familiar with them than any other side in the world. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for the Mighty Demons!
  6. From what I hear Chip is going no where....too far from the Spud farm up in that crazy place!
  7. He will be a star Keyser!!! He is an inside and outside player, as someone noted previously if watch the Under 18 Champs last year you will see Gysberts in the pack getting it out to Scully on numerous occasions!
  8. His twitter post after injury was 'cant wait to be back in the red & blue in 2011'. But it was mentioned he follows GC17 which is not a great sign. I think we have plenty of options to cover him but a lot of work has gone into Rick and would be disappointing to see him go. I've heard they have looked at some of our defence, Chip especially but also Garland and Warnock. Our defense is AWESOME and with our young guns, I would prefer they take Rick over any of them....if a choice had to be made!
  9. I think 9th or 10th would be a decent finish for us this year. The two defeats against Collingwouldnt and Dogs may be looked back on as the games that cost us a spot in the finals. I dont think this is an altogether bad thing if we don't get there this year, sometimes you can get ahead of schedule (see Hawthorn from 08 to now!)to the detriment of the required development. But hey if we got that far ahead of schedule that a flag was the result....I could care less about development!!! I would be happy to start with some more wins against the Vic sides as we still have not beaten any of them since 08 except for Richmond! A win interstate would be great for development also. If we drop in to the 8...great! But I think we should all take satisfaction from this season if we continue to see improvement and others such as Watts etc start to show their potential....9-12 wins, hopefully a lot closer to the 12 would be a fine result!
  10. That's actually well put and a good argument for the positive!!
  11. And I declined to mention Danny Hughes into that forward line mix who had a good debut in trying conditions....certainly looks good and another element!!
  12. I would be HUGELY surprised if they bring Watts in this week. They have tried to hose down all the media expectations and questions, so surely you cant expect them to bring him in for his first game when Nic Nat will be on the same park and there will be media there only to cover comparison between the two. Who knows? They may surprise and bring him in just to make the point that you cant compare them but I doubt it. I want to see him in ASAP....if he can get involved in some small way initially as well as become part of the start of a new winning culture, surely this has more benefit than having him kick 4-5 down at Casey? As someone else has advised, initially the strong defenders will gravitate to him just because of him being No 1 pick, this will free up others, if he is less threatening in his first 10 or so games, the 2nd or 3rd best defender may start to take him which in turn could free him up a bit. We are looking good in many areas...549 points against...the 2nd best in the league currently shows what any decent demon supporter should have been seeing for the last 12 mths which is our backline is first rate and will only get better, this is where the best teams start from and we are looking great in this area. The midfield has gone to another level with the inclusion of Skull and JT, the trade of Brock has worked a treat even without the inclusion yet of Gysberts because Jones and Moloney have improved (Brock has NOT!!) and we were never going to be able to have Joney, Beamer & Brock in the same side. Add to that Jordie Mac who has been awesome (and was missed against Nth)and even Junior Mac who looks like he could go onto 2011, Russian who is killing em, then look out for Morton to return, Gysberts, Blease etc etc and we are well equipped in this area. The only ingredient to add to is the forward line, thats why I say put Watts in and give him some continuity in getting used to his teammates, he will be a lot better for it development wise and then from later in this year we see Wonna and Jurrah return to the forward line, hopefully Ricky P and Tapscott next year and together with Green, Bate and Sylvia the makings of a very strong forward line with many elements and X factors. Play Jack....Play him now!!
  13. Gysberts will be better than Talia or Black.....limited pre-season and starting to cut it up at Casey, Blease will see more senior time at Casey, expect these two to see plenty of game time at the back end of the year, possibly when Skull or JT have a rest. The most pleasing thing from all this discussion/sarcasm is how are we going to fit in everyone into the side? Morton had a good return at Casey last week - Dunn should be very nervous as Morton will replace him soon Watts will be in the side within a month - then the forward line should start to see Wonna, Jurrah and into next year Ricky P return (if he stops following GC 17 on twitter!)
  14. Jack Grimes is going to be nothing short of a gun and as much as I LOVE watching all OUR GREAT TALENT running around, I think I love Jack just that little bit more. I was a HUGE Trav fan and was disappointed when he was moved on, but I heard of the pick 14 kid (yes Jack!) and from that moment knew he would be good....his first steps onto the G only confirmed this. J Mac is doing a HUGE job for the dees which should be noted in this forum.....once he steps away I think it has to go to Davey or Moloney...Green is a possibility but a few more years advanced may see him miss the opportunity. As stated here Grimes will be mid 20's when Davey or Moloney are done and could take on the role from there. Having said all that I think you make exceptions for young possible captains but they have to stand out...(ie Carey & Sticks....I cant see a reason why Grimes doesn't fit this mould. The clubs that have gone out on a limb and given the captaincy to a young fella seem to have success follow from there....so maybe, yep lets do it!! Hell, as long as one of the above a holding up a cup in the next few years...who really cares who it is!!! I just want that flag....who's with me???!!!
