Only when your head goes over the ball, consistently, can you give it out as he does. He doesn't put it over the ball at all times. Would rather a Tapscott giving a knowing look after asserting physical contact rather than Dunns efforts. Maybe I just have it in for him but am not much of a fan.
-
How bad was Johncock? I think it was 3AW that mentioned the most he got out of the game was the frequent flyer points. I reckon he looked in the opposite direction of the ball for the majority of the day.

Hail Hale is now at Hawthorn. The guy we tried to get to MFC.
-
Agreed. Where was Moloney against WCE? Clint Bartam was killing it out of the middle at times yesterday! Moloney is going nicely but would like to see him impress on a game when the tide is going against us.
-
Very good. Good OP HT. Another article by Martin Flanagan would be nice also. A great piece on Saturday and saw him at the game yesterday. Thanked him for his great insights into the Dees while we lined up for a Carlton Draught. EDIT: There was no line unless one person in front of me constitutes a line?
-
Particularly, even crucially in the early part of the game, ie the first qtr when we usually suck!
-
I don't know about that but what I do know is that JT seems to be much more consistent than DM at this very early stage of their careers. Martin's 'highlights' have been great and I like watching that kid play but I love Trengove and he is becoming a reliable 20 - 25 touch player and a good amount of them are so good to watch. Much of his best work can be missed as opposed to Martin's highlights because he is so deft.
-
You might have said the same about Jamar not so long ago. The change in Martin's body shows me that he is doing more to get himself across the line but we all know the saying, looks like Tarzan plays like Jane. Hopefully Stef Martin can add this physicality to his game and with the right mentor I think he could add to this team. I think Dunn's role is more about the most dangerous defender and stopping them as opposed to any perceived danger he can create.

I though Matt Bate started ok yesterday with his presence but didn't do much more than this yesterday. Deserves at least another week IMO but he is a player that has many limitations in his game. No right foot, no turning circle etc. Lynden Dunn just frustrates me. His continual want to gob off is painful to watch from a bloke that doesn't hurt the opposition enough and should therefore refrain from this. Some might say he provides an option in the ruck, this is a very flimsy argument and even yesterday, the game was dead when he was playing around in the middle. Stef Martin I thought was very unlucky despite a bad game and a half and I'd like to see much more time invested in him than the other two. Park him deep forward and get him to crunch packs with the size he now is and get some more assistance to Jamar. Spencer I would also be happy to be given more time. The forward line must start to function with Jurrah up the ground more often, Watts deep more often, Petterd leading up to the 50 line all day long and snipers like Wonna, Bennell and Sylvia ready to attack and keep the ball in there. Throw a Martin or Spencer deep at times also but the former two, Dunn and Bate IMO are and should be seen as depth and not the first choice. It was good to see some differences with Jurrah floating further up the ground, Grimes starting in the middle and Watts parked deep inside 50 more. It was great to see Rick P in a Demon jumper rather than a Casey one! How was he not in the side?
-
Bate deserves another week. The early part of the game I thought it was handy to have a bit of a stronger body around the forward line together with Rick P. He needs to do a lot more to hold his place though but deserves another week at least. Dunn does bugger all in most games after the first 20 minutes, not going to get swept up and say he adds to the ruck stocks because he doesn't. OUT - Grimes, Dunn IN - Bennell, Martin

Crowd figures = boring old story. Bailey = needs a strong strong showing against Nth this week. Sick of being consistently 5 goals or more behind this side. Bank on Harvey attempting to run around Bartram 3-4 times (selfish) and expect it to be very open if going by the last meetings. That must stop this weekend as pressure all over the ground should see us account for Nth.
-
Bartram rarely makes mistakes and Maric did noting but? Strange way to see things, but agree that Bartram was good and liked him being an extractor from the middle where just getting it out is the priority over hitting a target.
-
As soon as he's finally starting in the middle, he's injured.
-
Trengove noticeably lifts for the croweaters and Tapscott has joined that party. Great pair.
-
6. Moloney 5. Trengove 4. Petterd 3. Bail 2. Sylvia 1. Frawley
-
Great stuff! Love the mouthful he gives to 'skills' Gayfer.
-
Great article by Martin Flanagan. Respect.
-
Amazed to see The Age has 3 pages in succession on MFC today. Caro, Lyon, Flanagan and Pierik all with a piece.
-
Not great in the respect that he needed to be exposed in front of the group so soon after being exposed nationally on TV. That not being the first time either. I agree with you 13.
-
Where do we get a one trick pony? All I want is one?!!!!! I would've thought it quite hard to miss how he did this.

Get your USA spell check off then genius!

That's not great to read about Cale at training, if true. I sat with my 1 and 3 year old at the family day, right behind Cale while he spoke with others that approached him and he seems like such a quality guy. He reminded me of some of the better teachers I had at school. Not sure what that says for Cale. He needs to do something and get harder or get traded while some other club might believe they can make him this hard footballer where MFC cannot. We may get something out of it. I'm not sure Cale is going to change which is disappointing because he obviously has talent. It takes much more than that to make it at AFL level.
