Looksa bloody big surgical dressing - but if it was that he wouldn't be running like that so maybe some sort of cut or rash covering?
-
Exciting list of returnees, and a couple of potential debutants.
-
Strauss, when he gets a game on other merits. Meanwhile probably Davey.

My beef with the interpretation is that it doesn't seem to matter if the tackle is correct or not, they just love to pay holding the ball. Part of it is I think the frustrated Thespian in the maggots who love the "theatre" of the HTB arm actions. Prior opportunity varies from week to week, day to day, minute to minute, and player to player NB Judd and Ablett are allowed to do a 360 whereas others grab the ball and are pinged instantly. So, IF prior opportunity IS recognised, AND correct tackle is enforced than keep the rule - but current interpretation fails to protect and reward the player who does what the umpires do not have the courage to do, that is get in and under and get the ball. ANY incorrect tackle though must take priority over HTB, every time.

We need to utilise both Dunn and Green as deep forwards, always at least one of them inside 50, and if both, one very deep.

Alen Jakovich kicked 10 vs North the year the Southern Stand was down. Didn't Ox kick 10 v Footscray in the 1994 QF; maybe it was Lyon?

Presragiacomo is the biggest name at Collingwood, maybe in the whole AFL.

An Interesting Comment from Moloney on Triple M
monoccular replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
About the only times we looked at all likely to score was when the ball was kicked forwards over the heads of our up ground forwards who then were running towards goal. IF so many of our players are to push up to help the mids, then they will have to be prepared to run towards goal following a big bomb, ahead of their direct opponents. -
Magnificent to hear that Liam is looking maybe closer to return than expected. Will be very interested to see Gawn and Tapscott when they get into action. Thanks for the report - always appreciated. Any news on Fitzpatrick ???? Does anyone know much about him other than he is very tall and athletic?
-
Honestly, the form of any running player eg Bennell Jetta would really be excused six days after the game in Darwin - not possible to asses their form at all. Every player was absolutely stuffed. Had there been the opportunity to rest more I am sure the club would have done it. I think the last chance to judge them was in Darwin, and both contributed in a very big way to the win.

Has anyone seen anything of Fitzy since the first intraclub game at Casey - I must say, though he looked very 'raw' he also looked talented. Exciting that he is regarded as a KPP forward at about 200 cm . Any updates on his development?

Jimmy Stynes will do for me!
-
I would rather have Newton as a ruckman - even he has more of a physical presence than Fraser - that's how bad I feel Fraser is as a ruckman.

I guess the reason we were so far ahead was that we had worked our butts off in ridiculously trying conditions while Port didn't - therefore they had more in their tank (to use a word that used to have a different context at MFC!) than we did. Absolutely fantastic effort from the guys, the young ones in particular, to fight back after being headed - there is no way MFC teams of the last few years would not have dropped their heads and capitulated meekly. Great credit to ALL players, both the leaders and the youngsters, and to the coaching and conditioning staff. Bloody proud effort.

One question that I would be interested in having discussed: Where is his 'natural position'???? Could he be a huge midfielder - maybe not the pace. Wing _ difficult match up. Half forward or deep forward - pretty crowded there - who would he displace - maybe e third tall forward with JW and Miller / Bate? He runs a risk of becoming jack of all trades, master of none - and we have lots of Jacks already anyway!
-
You must have a short memory - he is the only player that I can recall who has ever been suspended for head contact when even the tribunal admitted that he may not have made contact!!
-
Was McClown the officiating umpire at the time? And that was the second one! Cornes elbow to JW's throat in the first quarter - no report! Yet Moloney was the only report.
-
Regarding Martin - he has shown good things in defence There was a lot of talk of Garland as a forward a few weeks back, noy recently Just a thought - Martin to defence, Garland forward. Martin as a back up ruckman if needed. Discuss.

Don't think he was selected!

Top three CHF's to replace Ricky Bobby?
monoccular replied to Alan Johnson's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bate and Sylvia play the role at different times, and have been doing a pretty good job - certainly far better than a player who I supported to the chagrin of others for a long time, but no longer, Miller. That has nothing to do with Ricky's injury though - he was acting as a smaller leading FF ala Brad Johnston. -
Thanks KC A few questions Where did Martin and McNamara play? Did Miller play? Where? Maric? Does Watts look like a starter for Demons as soon as next week??
-
Sure Lots of IFs, bit IF we played with the same intensity all year as we showed Saturday then we could make it. Trouble is a young side unaccustomed to winning over a long year will have quite a few hiccups. After round 1 a handful of wins seemed optimistic; now 8 - 10 could be realistic but finals - pretty long shot. Capable - yes; likely - no.

Where the hell is DUNN?
-
What role is Gysberts playing. Any updates on SculGrove?

What I also asked for on Demonology was that the club publish online the actual playing list for tomorrow's teams. There are always in practice matched extras and it is sometimes hard to pick especially the new players - don't even always wer their own numbers. Come on MFC - do something for the fans, today. Publish on Demonland and Demonology!
