Simon Godfrey #2 ????

It is interesting though, since they have in the past at least rated McNamara pretty highly, that he hasn't put in even a single appearance these last two years when the rest haven't exactly set the world on fire. I think Adelaide were after him a couple of years ago but he showed loyalty and said he wanted to remain a Demon - pity that someone with that degree of loyalty doesn't look as if he will make it, or even get another opportunity to show his worth. It sounds as if he has been remodelled from defence to the midfield - he would be surely worth at least a few games in the rest of this lost season so that they can decide yay or nay.

Thanks KC - looking forward as always to your summation. I got a little confused by some of the banter at the top of the thread - who of the MFC emergencies didn't play, or, who did play??
-
Two observations - named position often bears mo resemblance to starting position: Fitzpatrick was named on the wing last week, and though I didn't witness the game I would be pretty confident he didn't start, or certainly spend much time there. - coburg VFL ain't Geelong AFL

Bad season for the Indigenous players
monoccular replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
I guess it depends just when Davey "got injured"? He looked as if he was under par physically long before he was declared injured. I would like to see him get ready for pre-season 2012, even if that means he is 'rested' for the remainder of this wasted season (giving someone else such as Laurence or Tom McDonald or Tom McNamara a run) under new tutelage, play as a forward, then see. Liam - as above - a new coach, possibly a new role, say as a HF floater who can run opposition down, and a demand for full commitment to the cause. I am not sure of Aussie's contract status - I would certainly demand a commitment from him to get fit and stay fit over the preseason, and commit to playing his heart out for another couple of seasons at least. Bennell?? The new coach needs to "interview him" and they need between them to work out if he really wants to play AFL. Jetta - needs more time. -
No, you probably shouldn't but you have!! On Bigpond no less, so clearly the truth that we have all been waiting for!! Remember, Herr Fuhrer has decreed that there can be no third party deals, unless your name is Chri$ Judd and your club is Visytank. And furthermore, paying Tom, or anyone else for that matter, above their value will further rip our club apart! Let him go if mercenary is his game and good luck to him, his knee, and to the senile eccentric coach.

Back to the thread Haven't seen Casey this year - is Tom McNamara likely to make it? Looked very promising in his few games a couple of years back, and has been played, I believe, as a all mid this year. - is Tom McDonald likely to get a run this year, and if so as a forward or a defender? - did Morton do anything 'hard' at this level? - no mention of Fitzpatrick. - is Blease the natural replacement for Strauss ?
-
And the Weagles would have no hope of playing in the big time this year - so much for rags to riches stories, however achieved!! Every club does have its lows - no way that the AFL would allow Collingwood to play in division 2, nor to miss out on their favorites each other playing twice in a season at OUR home ground.
-
Probably cement a place in Casey firsts.....it was only a few weeks back that he was mooted as a MFC promotion.
-
IN - any player who really wants to be part of our future OUT - anyone who can't be bothered to put in a full game's effort, which would seem like most this week and last

Geez I am really starting to get a bit depressed over our first round picks - Cook dropped to VFL2s FCS Morton. Sylvia. #^*#}{<>£€^#

Eddie McGuire says we are a NO-BRUISE footy club!
monoccular replied to Prymke0019's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does that mean that Malthouse could turn Morton into a hard big tough guy?? I would like to see that!! -
You mean selfishly declared himself fit for combat, when he clearly wasn't. . IF he was checked out by the club doctor before the game either Brent covered up or the doc stuffed up! Either way we went in even more undermanned.
-
Buckley's - Is that Nathan's or Simon's?? I actually am getting a bit impatient about Cook and McDonald in particular - I would love to see both of them in the R&B in the next few weeks, regardless of our finals chances + or - !! Howe I have seen and am excited. Fitzpartick I believe has just resumed at Casey after another injury - saw him once in a pre-season a couple of years ago - looked very raw but a prospect. Hope to see him too.

Surely you jest, but en why not say North Etihad Sunday twilight......now that would really draw a crowd and create enthusiasm!!!
-
I doubt if they will do it - possibly, maybe, one of them but not they the plural IMVHO. Also IMVHO Jetta applies more defensive pressure so he is ahead of Addam at this stage. Need more though.

This isn't a Morton thread but that is not how I would describe Cale.

Slow AND lazy - doesn't sound great!!

Simple stategy DO Get the ball first Dish it off to a teammate Move it forward through between the goalposts DON'T Turn it over Kick it backwards

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

Isn't Jordie McKamakaze from the Western District Vic???? Rivers is from SA -
The league's media officer, Patrick Keane, said the AFL would look at the composition of the round "in the week starting July 18".....which is this week!

I'm with you on that - I can envisage, given Stef's amazing progress this year, his athleticism, ball handling and aggression, and his new found general confidence and goal kicking ability, him becoming a Dawes type strong big forward and a far better back up ruck man than Dawes. He also has experience and ability to take on a tall strong forward if needed. (I could also by the way see Stef becoming a big ruck-rover type - he has the athleticism and he tank to do this). This would allow us to let Gawnius Maximus continue his development as a ruck man backing up TMR.

Very good news to hear that Ozzie is keen to make a comeback and I am sure we all wish him well. I am certain it has been made very clear to him that it will require an enormous amount of hard hard work and mental application for him to get back to AFL standard, especially given the amount of time he has missed. The club and especially the 'brothers' will I am sure give him all the support he needs, but it is ultimately all up to him. Are you really up to it Ozzie?? We want you back and firing! And did anyone else hear Dean Bailey's interview on the news yesterday? Whilst not the most articulate or flamboyant interviewee, I was enormously impressed by his deep thinking on the matter, and by his care and compassion for one of his charges. THE best interview/statement that I have heard from him, and from any coach in a long while. Well done Dean - I sincerely hope that you succeed in guiding Ozzie back, hopefully to become the crumbing "x-factor" forward who applies that defensive pressure that we desperately need.

I posted this last evening, concurring with your thoughts: Looks as if Cook may struggle to get a run this year - haven't actually seen him - is he anywhere near solid enough for FF at this stage? Martin is gaining many more strings to his bow this year - he has moved on significantly from being a third tall defender who can pinch hit in the ruck, to a dependable back up ruck who now can take a grab up forward, can kick goals and is very good at ground level for a man of his size. I reckon, especially with the progression of Gawnius Maximus, that Martin could be groomed as the big athletic body up forward in the Dawes mould.

And back to the thread title - I think time has passed Fev by, at AFL level.
