  1. You beat me to the punch -- Col does have the talent and the ability to win the Brownlow; only he himself can know why he lacks the drive, the dedication, or the geuniue will to do so. I hope our new coach helps him to find his best, but the coach can only help -- OVER TO YOU, COLIN, IF YOU REALLY CARE !!
  2. Lutz - I think that all here would sincerely hope that he would do just that, but you seem to say it with a degree of conviction that many of us would not share.
  3. I think the term "our Scarlett" is a great description. He reads the play so well and is prepared to back himself. Probably (will be) stronger than the Cat as well. THE KEY to our attacking defence.
  4. Like you, old dee, I must have missed a lot of games as if I were asked to guess, I would have said maybe 25-30 games. Many have been quite underwhelming. Good talent: let's see what an uncompromising coach and fitness team can get out of him, or rather help and guide him to get out of himself.
  5. Poor Eddie -- really feel sorry for him --NOT!! Maybe he thought the 'draw' aka rigged schedule wasn't quite tuned right, or maybe the goal umpiring (giving them false hope)! Anything to distract from the coaching instability that HE created and Perpetuated throughout the season, almost every week. Well, Eddie, I hope you enjoy figjam because that is what YOU have chosen.
  6. Neeld and his roles focus: I doubt if he could see Matty as a forward, so unless he believes he can recreate him as a mid or on baller I suspect he will be moved on.
  7. We have a new coach who believes in 'roles' rather than players. The interview will be interesting: I feel he may think that MW has a role. It is a bit premature for us all here to say what Mark Neeld will think: I will trust him. He has enjoyed success at many levels and I am sure he won't keep anyone on just for sentiment !!
  8. Never ever even contemplate playing injured players in a GF. Jolly and Reid were not up to it on the day. And Geelong had self belief, but belief that they kept to themselves and didn't flaunt in public. They were harder longer. The Filth had the niggling instability of Buckley v Malthouse simmering along in the background, ....and, we helped destabilise them further by pinching their midfield coach!
  9. Needs to build up - has all the right skills and instincts to be a real gem. Hopefully Craig and Missen will get his body right ... then....wham!!
  10. I would love to be a fly on the wall at the tete-a-tete between Neeld and Clint. He will make certain demands og Clint, outline what needs to be improved and expect him to work on that ie disposal and decision making, whilst lauding his hardness and endeavour. I suspect that the times are a passing for a good hard trier with limited skills. Over to you, Clint. I think most of us would love you to succeed in teh long term but most hve their doubts: doubts are there however for you to disprove.
  11. Another Dumbitrou triumph of mediocrity, wasting the clubs' and players' money.
  12. I really hope that Jack had a good long look, and looks again and again, at just what the very widely and much maligned Tom Hawkins acheived yesterday --- stood up and did the job exactly when needed most. Our Jack IMO is more talented than TH, but is a few years behind in his development (just to remind the constant knockers who keep harping that Jack hasn't taken a game apart yet, just as TH hadn't until the big one yesterday).
  13. LOL, and love the Pendeldlebury comment ;-)
  14. OMR - WTH are you talking about? The Pies really got their collective heads up in the non- solar zone.........talk of a triple or more dynasty. Sure they had a good H&A season, but they could well have gone out in straight sets had the cards fallen just a little differently weeks 1 & 3.
  15. Some don't seem to realize - talks take time and realistically Fitz has had less than two full seeaons.
  16. Daniel Bell #2 ????? Certainly has a bad injury record at the G ! I have only seen him live twice, and didn't finish either game.
  17. If an ageing out of form captain is prepared to "walk" for not being offered a two year deal instead of one, then he clearly is not the leader we need!
  18. Surely nobody can be serious about Grimes, at this stage. He hasn't played for nearly a year, and wasn't setting the house on fire prior to his injury. He needs to concentrate on being the best player possible first, and that involves working hard on his disposal. Trengove and Watts will be our future leaders - why not start the future right now?? It would be interesting to know who the new coach feels would be the best man for the job - of course there will be rumours but we will never really know, but I am sure it would be someone really hard and uncompromising.
  19. I wonder if he has had the "sit down face to face" with Neeld yet? "What do you want to achieve in 2012, Matt?" "Regular AFL games" "Do you believe that you have the ability and commitment to do this at MFC?" "Yes" ........thoughts from Neeld .....".....?????" Depends whether he sees Matt as being able to fill one of his "roles", and who else he has in mind for these roles. A change of coach could make Matt; on the other hand a change of club could too.
  20. I guess the short answer (hopefully, presuming that he isn't all talk, and means what he says - no reason to doubt by the way) will be " anyone who wants to play for MFC". I am really looking forward to seeing just who on our list is really up to the task -- some have obvious talent but haven't used it with any consistency, and these will be tested most. Bring on 2012! Exciting times lie ahead.
  21. Several of the players have commented on Mark's appointment but the 2011 captain has been strangely silent. I wonder if he is looking forward to completing his career under a demanding, no nonsense, take no prisoners type coach after spending all his time so far with two who both appeared far more forgiving?
  22. I just saw the HS you tube interview -- who was the intervieeeewer who referrred to the Keith Bluey Award (no mention of Truscott) -- Jordie really interviews well, and sound juust a top bloke with a Red aand Blue heart. I feel very proud to have him at our club.
  23. The bottom line is that IF Neeld thinks that Dawes is worth bidding for, he will know exactly what he is worth, and what would be too much. There is really no option but to place our trust in Neeld: he appears to be most impressive and has a greeat cv.
  24. Good luck to young James. Whether he was to or will ever become a great player remains to be seen, but he was just starting to make real headway.
  25. ...nor from number 10 !
