  1. I realise the reason they wear them - just wonder about safety of team mates when worn if full tackling drills.
  2. An unusually good pick up from Colonwood, after the disappointment of Dawes and of H
  3. I may be wrong but I feel that I have read somewhere that Dean Many years later admitted to staging. It was devastating for a teenage fan to see my hero suspended on finals eve in these circumstances. As I recall it was replayed on TV but the tribunal refused to (or wasn’t permitted to) view pictorial or video evidence and believed the umpire. These days it would be thrown out without a tribunal hearing. And yes, it did cost us another tilt at the flag.
  4. At least I don't see anyone totally jinxing him with the old and overworn "he will be a gun" label. I have noticed this over the past few preseasons. Do they wear them during full drills, with tackling? There would be a real danger of serious finger injuries if that were the case. Maybe Peter Brukner will step in and stop this.
  5. ..... and if somehow there could be an even number (+1 or-1) of teams to end the iniquitous byes.
  6. My reading was that he asked those who hadn't made prior arrangements ... not IMO pi55 poor travelling overseas in their down time, and it does sounds like most at least are on a fitness programme whilst away.
  7. As much as one can ever tell from a newspaper article, he does seem to have "learned his lesson" and be full of remorse. As others have said, his hunger could (if genuine and ongoing) lift him to greater heights. Low cost maybe worth at least a psychoanalysis?
  8. Problem is that they don't all get to the 70 - 100 mark. The skill and the luck is picking the right one.
  9. The lack of running to create space even knowing that it will not reset in a possession to the runner has been a longstanding bugbear of mine. Creating options and creating space just opens up the forward line so much. Actually, over to you Mr Hunt. Burgess isn't going onto the field - it is the player's responsibility, with the help of the fitness staff. With the help of fitness staff, and creative coaching this may happen. See above - second efforts and running to space, to shepherd or to receive, or to draw an opponent; all need to become ingrained second nature.
  10. DJ - nobody can ever be sure of anything so why state the obvious? ?? But from the little I have seen of him (FWIW) there doesn’t seem much reason to believe he won’t, injuries aside.
  11. Absolutely agree that Bailey is a forward through and through. I believe the justification for sending him back in 2019 was said to be a dearth of other defensive options. However he didn’t play as a natural defender and his absence forward was sorely felt. Perhaps on very tiny, minute glimmer of silver lining could be that time spent in defence sometimes helps in forwards’ development. Certainly looking forward to watching him in a full season as a forward
  12. And it actually did eventually, only for him to suffer presumably a quite different injury. ?
  13. I have met the guy and he is very impressive and a good communicator I just wonder how the structure will turn out.
  14. Can we revisit this mid season please.
  15. Thanks. So maybe another quick clean outside link like Langdon, and Tomlinson (though I accept that some here say the latter isn’t a quick link).
  16. A plodder who player all but a game or so over three years in a top 8 team. If only we had some of those home grown plodders.
  17. Thanks guys, and good luck with your futures. It was not for lack of effort that you did not quite make it. Your application was flawless. Not everyone makes it in the cutthroat game at AFL level but you have played more games than (almost at least) anyone here. Listening to the clip of JKH v Tigers, Derwaaaynn was almost as orgasmic as Brooooceee used to get when Cyrrrilllll had the ball.
  18. We have heard most of this repeatedly over the years ..... hopefully this time we will see actions. Facta non verba as they used to say in ancient Rome (way back when the Demons were a force to be reckoned with).
  19. Getting away from the deep philosophy of life, can someone in the know suggest where he may fit in to our lineup?
  20. “if Ash develops the contested side of his game further and starts hurting opponents more by foot, he can feature inside the first round of this year's draft.” Like Toby Greene or Dustbin Fletcher?.
  21. Fair dinkum if our recruiting staff fail to find a 200 game superstar 100 goal a year KPF then they should be sacked immediately.
  22. Given the disaster that 2019 turned out to be, perhaps that could be a bonus?
  23. That is surely a load of bull
  24. Certainly a work in progress, and I wouldn't write him off just yet, as many have. IF he can improve his tank over the off season, he may well find more confidence in contested marking and chasing down defenders who, if caught by him, would be in mortal fear. Ruck coaching and Max mentoring could also help his ruck craft. Over to you, Braydon - get super fit and give yourself a chance to prove the critics wrong.
  25. Maybe Jab gave it to Dank 'for services rendered'?
