The Controversial Discussion about the Knee that needs to be had
monoccular replied to Hatchman's topic in Melbourne Demons
I doubt if anyone here looks at Collingwood practice sessions - but I suspect that Moore doesn't attempt to spoil his team mates in such a reckless manner. FCS I recall someone (in the immediate aftermath) trying to even criticise Goody for allowing Trac to be playing in the forward line It appeared to even be acceptable earlier this year when Max received a knee to the back of the head in a ruck contest by de Koenig I think - "PLAY ON"!!! But of cause the sanctimonious hypocrites in charge say "the head is sacrosanct".😡 -
Well obviously not unthinkable, BBO - many here seem to think he can come straight back. Might have been the original plan, thinking we may have been sitting fairly comfortably right now, but now maybe we can't afford to "hold him back for finals" as we really need to start winning consistently right now.
-
Sorry and may be seen as nitpicking - the game is Australian Rules Football: the AFL is the body in whose avaricious, conflicted and hypocritical hands it is being destroyed as an enjoyable contest.

In fact too predictable that a thread with this title would come out sometime.

Potential Father Son Prospect Noah Yze

190 cm - presumably he is still growing too. But other than his name is he a good or good+ player? -

which would, of course, be a rule change itself 🤔 -
Is that because it is run by jerks? Interesting - have there ever been twin father son prospects before? No doubt Carlton will demand, and get, a two for one special deal, otherwise, if they are any good as players, they would have to expend most of their draft numbers in getting them. Couldn't have that, could we?

Maybe Harrison is hamstrung by his ankle? And WTF is general soreness Bowey? Presumably hiding something. 🙄

Wait for the AFL to justify a NT team - despite the insanity of a team playing in the Darwin heat and humidity all season (even with some Alice games) - on the basis of "with the Tasmanian team we will have an unbalanced number necessitating byes and nobody wants that. 10 rounds a week - gosh, Thursday nights will be a permanent thing, and probably Monday nights too. Is that OK Fox and 7??" Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Of course the talent pool will be further diluted, and the cesspool from which they find maggots will have to be even deeper, despite the FACT that they cannot get enough half competent umpires already. At least 4 more required. But we can't afford 21st Century goal line camera technology. I love the Demons. I despise the AFL as an organisation.

I pick both IF the 'slight push', like the jabs in the guts, didn't happen there would be no free. I really hope that one of their annual rule changes this off season, in fact their only one, is to make it very clear that every punch to the guts, to or from whomever, is an offence that starts at one week for a first offence. Yes, for every player and every team. I guess nothing will happen until a Collingwood or Carlton player gets his spleen ruptured - yes, it can and does happen sometimes from an unexpected and undefended gut punch. It is cowardly and designed to gain an unfair advantage even if for only a moment. The "Legendary" Brett Harvey specialised in it, then squealed when he received retaliation, sometimes leading to a report and suspension. Clarry is the receiver more often than most as it puts him at least momentarily out of the contest. Bernie Vince once went down and actually vomited and had to leave the field (can't remember the offender off hand but I am sure someone here will remember). Yet these inane commentators call it "a love tap". What a pack of Neanderthals.

Sure. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result. If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. What has been the club’s response to these ongoing repetitive failures? Serious question? Same skills coach. Same forward coach. 🤬😡

Thanks for all the reports, and I am salivating at the thought of the sausage sizzle. Regarding Melksham - just speculating that IF he were ready for this weekend ( which he almost certainly isn’t) who would he replace from the current line up? Fritta? Or maybe sub? Missed the deadline for the podcast questions so I posted this here.

I think it may have been binman who quoted Chris Scott saying that he would rather risk missing finals than not being ready to perform if they got there. Obviously a very high risk / reward philosophy but could that be what we are doing?

Christian Salem - Elite or Good Ordinary

He certainly would be very valuable as a smart, tough ball getter with excellent disposal and vision, but at the moment he is a required cool head guiding on field and mentoring the smaller defenders. Once Bowey or McVee reach that mature defence leadership sage position, yes, why not, if Christian is still medically and physically up to it. -
I think watching Maynard heavily intoxicated or with both eyes half shut would be as bad as watching him with his eyes open and sober. 🤮 Maybe even worse. Of course they can, and do. A rednblue jumper? Seriously this is a blatant example of why Michael Christian should be stood down as MRO. even if only for games in which Collingwood is involved. He is so clearly biased. either corrupt or insanely inept and I’ll prove it. - no, both

3, then 4, only deepened the pit from which umpires are selected. 2 fit fully professional umpires would be far better - plus maybe one more in the stands (perhaps an experienced one who is no longer physically up to it) to call the blatant off ball incidents. That would be really complicated - would you envisage the master overruling (or conferring) over decisions made in a fast passage of play? I sort of like the dies but IMO the one I mentioned above may be better. Is there any coincidence that Robbo has finally teed off after EssUndone was apparently screwed by decisions? The rule as quoted doesn't make it clear if it is OR or AND and do all criteria need to apply? Artificial intelligence could only improve the sort of "human?" intelligence that makes a lot of the decisions from AFL HQ

Fatigue affects mental acuity and thus accuracy. Yes even set shots. But is the fatigue due to training schedule, or age / experience mix? Or maybe forget about the coiffure and concentrate on the footy. I suppose you said that just a few rounds back when we capitulated early and were slaughtered, together with realistic top 4 or even 8 hopes. Please, never utter that again; there are no easy kills these days. 5% off mentally and it’s game over.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson

Superunknown - are you a mortician or maybe an undertaker / funeral director? Or a very bad doctor? Grave digger? (though I guess they don’t usually see the stiffs). 🤔🤗 -
Thanks guys for your weekly contributions to my sanity, especially after a loss or a shaky win like v North. The last 5-6 weeks have been quite hard to take, but despite the loss the Brisbane game was our best for a long time. Any thoughts on why we just cannot score in final quarters? Do we really run out of puff due to lack of fitness or burning our fuel earlier in games with nothing left at the end? Or is it maybe mental? Not quite defeatist, but maybe pessimism associated with MFCSS? They seem to go into their shell. The debutants this year are all looking good, despite Pup’s very limited opportunities. Windsor has been a real find and with another preseason he could be anything in the next year or two. Kolt looks full of enthusiasm and grunt, and AMW so calm and poised. Howes will be good when he fills out a bit. Will we see any more, like Jefferson, Sestan maybe. This may depend upon where our season is heading the next month or so Any thoughts on the Chocco kicking skills experiment which did seem to work when he first arrived, but the last couple of years both field kicking and set shots seem putrid. Has his message gone stale, or maybe he isn’t doing it any more? Petty in particular needs some formal training in set shots. Really cost us this week though his ball attack has improved greatly. Maybe just confidence in his mind and in his body? Fritta was talked up preseason as a potential Coleman medalist but seems to have lost all confidence and flair. Is he physically fit? Any other issues?

I would rate him as A+ in 2021. In fact at Q time he would have been favorite for the Norm, and was a key to our Premiership 🏆 Medical issues more than injury have reduced him to B+ to A His experience is so valuable with so many of our smaller defended being relatively inexperienced. -
Neocleous Surname Meaningfrom the genitive case of the male given name Neoklēs from néos 'new' + the root seen in kléos 'fame glory'. Can't find any reference to the name in the bible - please cite the context. But new fame and glory sounds promising (though glory and fame sounds nauseatingly like Bombers song)
-
OMG. Just turned on the last few minutes because it was close - the Saints’ disposal and forward craft is even worse than ours.
-
... and worst administrated.
-
If Windsor "needs a rest" does that mean another week off just after a bye, or a "rest" at Casey??
-
We were sold the story that Chocco's strength was getting the goal (and general) kicking straightened out. We have seen very little evidence the past coulee of years that this is working.
