Prepare for massive unpredictability the next few weeks with Max missing. Unpredictable centre bounce and around the ground contests. Unpredictable kick ins - May certainly won't kick to Max as some here complain about. Let's see what unpredictability can deliver?

"Very sore" Max Gawn in doubt for next Saturday vs Essendon
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Probably will be fobbed off as a ridiculous question, but has anyone ever tried no contest centre bounces with an extra mid size waiting to pounce on the ruckman if he grabs it, and with an extra ready to rove to the hit out?? -
5 ??? 10 - 15 I hope And I thought that the comment "we are on" was in reference to our season in the context of "loading" or preparation. I think it was always in the pipeline but brought to a head by the loss of CP5 and the less than his usual stellar form of CO13.

and don't forget McVee and AMW in that young group .... and a ruckman who can also play on on filed role like a marking forward when not relieving Max (unlike Brundy who could ruck or not play a role. Seeing Max subbed out today brought feelings of absolute dread as we are cactus without him. Sure JVR fills in bravely, but then he isn't up forward. Very clearly the powers that be don't think Fullarton is worthy of a look in (why did they recruit him?) If it was the Druggies, they would be lauding the Baby Bombers. And, JVR is already our number 1 key forward. Is it coaching though, or is it just too many wanting the ball and not blocking for others like many other teams do?? I also reflexly yelled "deliberate" from somewhere deep in the brain stem, but was absolutely shocked that it was paid. It displayed an absolutely atrocious lack of understanding of the game by the maggots. I much prefer being the optimist who is sometimes wrong than the pessimist who is always right. If it is on the AFL website then of course the totally impartial ex-Collingwood premiership player aka as the MRO will be right onto it.

Balanced, strong, aggressive - what is there not to love about this gem from Esperance? He sounds as if he loves the club and having JV7 as his early mentor has him on a very solid grounding. Looking forward to many more exciting moments from the Kolt - can see him as a powerful mid in due course. His set shot kicking looked confident and controlled. Has he been watching JVR?
-
First time I have seen him play live - very impressed with hi pace and most of his disposal and intercepting. But we really need a pithy short name for him - AMW is trite, and Moniz-Wakefield is a mouthful to yell out in a crowd. Moniz? Monz could encounter censorship issues. Mono TM is patented by me.

The stats say 9 kicks, 0 HB, 9 marks, 2 goals 1 behind, 2 goal assists and 7 score involvements. I was pretty sure I saw him getting at least one kick that wasn't from a mark, ie in general play, but it seems that I am wrong. According to training reports he has been in full running training for many weeks, and will have been 'body building' in the gym for months. Really starting a new season in mid season. Looking forward to this refreshment of the team. you left out McAdam and Fullarton. Interesting that nearly all of these were recruited as NQRs from other clubs.

Funk and Wagnall was I believe made popular by frequent references in Rowan and Martin's Laugh In
-
6 Rivers - looks at home in the midfield 5 JVR - at last several confident aggressive contested marks - pith that his sharp shooting wasn't his usual 4 Windsor - cool calm and collected and love his disposal 3 TMcD 2 McVee 1 Kolt So many after #3 that there will be a lot of apologies

So, maybe 4 ½ minutes away then? (Not up to date with average time for a mile these days) That rally is telling - Fullarton himself will no doubt be bitterly disappointed in that he was prpbably told he would be next man in if a tall forward, who cam relieve in the ruck, was needed. Roost - I reckon he will get a game or two late in the season only if finals are out oof contention. Otherwise we can look forward to a stronger, hungrier Jeff round 1 (or round zero, maybe minus 1?) 2025 Sounds like a lot of women I know - isn't it complaints from AFLW that lead to them no longer listing weight in player stats? -
Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
monoccular replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
Far better news than originally widely speculated - he has retained his spleen, or most of it, which is great immunologically. He has also avoided abdominal surgery which means he will be able to get back to the 'body building' aspects of training pretty soon, and running gradually. Presumably he will be told to avoid contact for a few months but he would be expected to be fully fit by preseason. PS uncomplicated appendicitis treated by keyhole surgery shouldn't be a real setback. On the bright side it at least didn't happen in season. -
Jesse Hogan would be pretty handy right now - though he is getting A+ rather than D- delivery much of the time

Can the umpires get CFC over the line? Only need 2+ goals in 3 minutes Ignored a clear HTB against CFC with 2 minutes to go
-
Not a problem. Always good to have this farce of a feeder / development competition shown up. and no goal reviews going against us?? Not just evidence - further evidence My prep granddaughter does a far better job than these do It does, but remember we started the season with 2 gone for the year, and have lost a third for the season

There is a challenge for Andy, binman and George - get Goody on as a mid season guest 🙂

Or maybe not so long before - "MFC have an elite junior at Dandenong this year" "Just change the rules to allow free bidding, for this year only" "Fixed" Just about everything else in the AFL is fixed, so why not this?
-
Won’t look quite so good when a couple of holdover emergencies don’t play because they are stuck in Melbourne. Like some were stuck in Brisbane last week, or maybe played after a rushed late flight from Brisbane
-
Great question. The lack of liaison means both competitions suffer, especially the novelly named VFL. Hold over emergencies miss weeks of football development because the AFL and the VFL just don’t seem to care.
-
I guess they may - and guess which team will be the test bunny?
-
Or .... obvious player I refuse to name Actually 16 other clubs - EssUndone have done it and Collingwood won't.

Surely you need some "good ordinary"players on the list, although of course it would be great to have 30 stars on the list - however there would be a lot of friction were that the case. Tommo has given us great service and was really very unlucky to have done his ACL in 2021 when he did - could well have been a premiership player.
-
And remember Melksham has about a decade of preseasons and experience over Ashcroft.
-
Ahhh. Just love the "support / feeder competition" organisation. Pathetic. 👀🪡 Surely, in the context, you should be saying "isn't he special"? Good luck in your recovery. Have a chat to TMc and Petty.🙄 Fullarton?? Tholstrupp would be very stiff to be dropped. Maybe sub?? Deemania - where do we send the application form for MFC Kicking Coach?? Cpt Darling: I say, listen - our guns have stopped Lt George: You don't think .... Pte Baldrick: Perhaps the war is over. Perhaps its peace Cpt Darling: Thank God. We lived through it. The Great War, 1914 - 1917. Hip Hip hooray

Michael Tuck says hi. Was it 3 years in Hawthorn Reserves then a record holder at the Hawks for total senior games? https://www.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/7fea7526-918f-44e2-9afe-c79ccd8bd242 -
The Controversial Discussion about the Knee that needs to be had

Maybe Moore didn't set out to do damage, but maybe he didn't really care if he did.
