How much football have Demonland members played?
DeeGee replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
2 years playing back pocket for the magoos for the mighty Laharum DEMONS in the Horsham District League. And they won the flag this year but without my help. -
From when can you join up for 2014? It would be fantastic to see an immediate surge in membership off the back of this great bit of news....

I was an 11 year old who went with his old man. First and only time I went to the western oval. Unbelievable game, but what I remember as a kid was the doggies supporter with BO blocking my view all day!!

Very good question. I went to the AGM earlier this year, and came away quite optimistic about our off-field and on-field positions. We were shown some graphs showing we were mid-range for football dept spending (I thought we were somewhere near the bottom), plans to increase it further. A small profit for last year under difficult circumstances. All sounded good. On-field, there seemed to be positivity that we would do better than a lot of the pundits expected. Neeld answered all the questions well I thought. I can't believe how different (on-field and off-field) things are right now. Why have an AGM if the discussions are not realistic?

My brother tells me that the bugler was playing at every station along the dandenong line before the game. Not sure if it was official or he was doing it as Joe Citizen.

And I don't understand...if you were against the coach, why wouldn't you still want to perform? This the player's profession -if they get the big A there is a fair chance they are unemployed. If they wanted out, wouldn't they want to perform highly? I think much of this game is played above the shoulders. At the moment, our players have zero confidence.

My niece's boyfriend played for north ballarat rebels at u/18 level with both Lucas cook and Tom McDonald. He tells me that Lucas was the best player he had seen at that level, and was astounded when tommy Mac was drafted. Funny how it turned out. Well not really. Apparently Lucas is playing part time at hopetoun this year, so my niece's boyfriend is playing with him again. Interesting to hear how he goes.

How and why did you become a Melbourne supporter?
DeeGee replied to Webber's topic in Melbourne Demons
My dad is a demon My grandfather was a demon My great grandfather was a demon I became a rusted on demon in the late 80s Now my 2 daughters are indoctrinated too. No idea why my great grandfather supported them though. -
My dad has a pathological hatred of the Toigs. I have never really understood where this comes from, but it has been passed down to me.

Extremely low crowd numbers I think. I can see why the AFL want to play in these small towns but surely they need >5000 or so to make it worth it?
-
I can tell you where the above has been stated. Here - on 'land. Of course, all the posters on here are really MFC powerbrokers and have authority to state club views. Hi Caroline, can you please quote me in tomorrow's paper? My real name is D.McLardy. Btw, this is crap. The club hasn't made any statements and we have to read this bs in the paper.

I agree with most of the above. What stood out to me was: Flash was very good and I'm looking forward to see how he goes this year Howie seemed to be in everything Hogan is huge. He changed his shirt at one stage and we didn't realise who it was for a minute. There's no way he is only 17 - he is ripped. Tommy Mac was everywhere Frawley took a nice hanger on Jade Rawlings near the end. Jack Watts has bulked up yet again.

Tony Campbell?

Brian Dixon?

I played a couple of seasons with the Laharum Demons in western Victoria. I personally think they have one of the most picturesque grounds around. The backdrop is the Grampians, but gee it gets cold there when you're training on a Thursday night in winter.

I got it. Subtle!!

The Age reports that Col Sylvia, Breny Moloney and Luke Tapscott were photographed with some underworld figure in Vegas recently. Don't know how to post the link. Someone's got it in for us...

Caroline Wilson's descent into gutter journalism
DeeGee replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with the overall sentiments on this thread about that article. Very ordinary journalism in my opinion. It seems to me we need a number of Demonland contributors to write to the letters section of The Age. Surely at least 1 letter would be published. The letters should be well written with clear arguments and no vitriol. As someone said earlier, we aren't Collingwood supporters. Who volunteers to write one? -
Aaron Davey reconsidering his position at Melbourne
DeeGee replied to Brayshaw Self's topic in Melbourne Demons
The other thing that Mark Neeld said on SEN this morning was that Flash has already taken his annual leave for the year and has commenced his own preseason. I hadn't heard of anyone doing this before. I thought it was a great idea. Obviously he needs to get his body right. -
Major new restrictions on struggling clubs
DeeGee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did anyone hear Paul Gardner on SEN a few minutes ago? As a "neutral supporter" he essentially backed up Brock's comments. Sure he can have an opinion, but this public comment just adds more weight to the discussion and drops us more in it. What is his agenda? -
Major Announcement Today @ President's Lunch
DeeGee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don Mclardy was interviewed on the today show this morning. Mentioned something about a big announcement today. -
I can't wait to be in the minority at subi on Saturday - me and all the family proudly wearing all our dees gear. GO DEES!!

Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
DeeGee replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. I would challenge any Dees supporter (and many in the general population) to watch that and not tear up. -
That surprises me a bit. I would have thought the HUN readers would be much more in the "no" camp. Clearly it is complicated and no-one watching from a distance knows all the details. A Yes/no answer doesn't mean much.
