  1. How can the HUN have a public vote (yes/no answers only) about whether he should play footy again? Very poor form....
  2. Hey - I'm about to move to Perth for 3 months for work. Unfortunately I'm going a few days before Rnd 1 (I've been hanging out for it since September) but I did get a fix on Saturday night. One consolation is that I can go to Rnd 2 v the Weagles. I'm planning to buy tickets through the club to sit with the other Dees supporters- do many people do that?
  3. My neice's boyfriend played with Tom for the Ballarat Rebels u18 side. He reckons he was the best player he's seen at that level and told me not to be surprised if he turned out really well.
  4. I was at the footy tonight. When it was announced Brock was subbed off , the Carlton faithful cheered as one. It was just after a goal so probably wasn't shown on tv. I had to chuckle.
  5. Can I just get this off my chest? Sheedy is an absolute tool....I dont know why the football public reveres him so much.
  6. Dr Turf from SEN is a Dees supporter too. Don't know his real name.
  7. Yep, great times. My grandfather went to the footy with my great-grandfather, my dad went with my grandfather, I still go with my dad and now my 2 daughters go with me (no choice - they got their Demon Times today too). All going for the Dees of course!
  8. His dad was my favourite player growing up. Chris was only a fringe player with the Dees and I guess he tried to further his career. I was hoping he would be half as good as his dad for the Dees.
  9. Last year Tom Wood, a faithful Dees supporter and great bloke passed away from Ewing's Sarcoma. He was 28. His story was captured magnificently by Martin Flanagan in The Age, describing Tom's last day at the footy with his dad when MFC invited him into the rooms before the game. I get a bit teary every time I read it. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/touched-wood-the-game-and-its-power-20091124-j629.html A team of Tom's friends and family are doing the RunMelbourne on Sunday 18th July to raise money for sarcoma cancer research. All money raised will be directed to the Rainbows for Kate Foundation (RFK) to fund a PhD scholarship for sarcoma research in memory of Tom. If you are able to donate a bit of money it would be most appreciated (tax deductible of course). Please go to the following link... http://runmelbourne.everydayhero.com.au/run_for_tom
  10. A fantastic article on Jimma and the little-known Don McLardy from today's Age. Interesting reading.... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/two-optimistic-men-on-a-mission-in-sport-and-welfare-20100702-zu4n.html
  11. Absolutely awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I'll put it a bit differently - the club should be MAKING our required players want to stay. Create a great culture, team camaraderie, win lots of games, give real opportunities for players to shine...$ can't replace all that. Let's face it, we don't have any Abletts or Riewoldts at the moment. I reckon Jimmy & co. are well on the way to do that...
