  1. It was a very specific post (tabled ā€œthis afternoonā€) and so I was curious as to how the poster came across the info... did I ask him to name names?
  2. And you know this, how?

Currently the forecast is Cloudy with a too of 19c... nothing about rain or strong winds.
  4. It’s been posted on the MFC’s Facebook page that Brown will debut on Sunday.
  5. Possible, but as he’s coming back from an extended time off and prior to his injury, had been underperforming, I feel he’ll probably need to do a couple of weeks at Casey to regain form.
  6. I’m guessing it’s Melksham to make way for Ben Brown, and Jones will now be managed to get him through the season and hopefully into the big dance. Will be interesting to see who replaces Jones (Sparrow or Chandler?).

Yep, you only have to look at cults like the Rajneesh (aka the orange people) and the Ananda Maga, who counted among their membership, large numbers of very highly paid professionals (think Lawyers, Doctors, Architects etc) who donated insane amounts of money to their leaders. I went to school with Tim Anderson the infamous supposed Hilton Bomber (now cleared of that), and Tim Jones (busted in Thailand with explosives, supposedly on his way to blow up Indira Ghandi); both were, and still are, extremely intelligent people, yet they got drawn into the Ananda Maga.
  8. But isn’t it the spread while in hotel quarantine that has been the issue?
  9. Could be any Demonland Gameday thread you care to open.
  10. It's funny, that was exactly what my son and I were saying about the Dees in the first part of the first quarter... we looked panicked.
  11. Agree... look no further than Dustin Martin.

His only failing, as far as I can tell, is his inability to land a tackle.

Yes, we're getting to hear instructions to the Tiges players

How good is it having no commentary... a refreshing change.

I keep refreshing the page, but so far no sign of the stream. Wait. it's there now.

I don’t think it’s announced until 6:30pm... check on the AFL website is probably more reliable than MFC website.

I watched the VFL match on Foxtel between GWS and the Doggies. Doggies easy winners, but got to see both Hogan (4 goals) and Hannan (3 goals), going around. Casey Dees are on next Thursday night.

What rpfc said may be a bit harsh, but there is more than a small element of truth to it.

If the Dogs lost to GWS and we beat the Tigers, it doesn’t matter what the margin is as we will sit on top of the ladder regardless, being the only undefeated team.

If he strings together poor performances, then yes, like any other player, his position is in jeopardy... I just don't think that has been the case yet and it would seem that the coaches believe he is performing the role he's been given.

If players were judged solely upon their performance in their last game, there would have been many dropped before Jones in rounds 1 - 4. So far this season, apart from round 5, he has been performing well enough to be retained in the side, and to drop him on the cusp of his 300th game would, I believe, be detrimental to the performance of the entire team, particularly considering all eyes in the media are now on the club, and his 300th game is one of the big, if not the biggest, talking points - it would be deflating. A club dropping one of their most important players over the past decade and a half, for what would be his 300th game on such an important occasion (ANZAC Eve Game) doesn't represent a club that is tough and ready for a period of success... it represents a club that is unable to read it's players, members and supporters. The game needs a touch of humanity every now and then, and this is one such occasion when a player deserves to be acknowledged on a very big stage; how many thought North's decision to play Jason McCartney in June 2003 was a sign of softness by the club? For me, that was one of the biggest moments I've ever witnessed on a football field! Even if we lose the game (and I don't think we will lose), I will be happy that we allowed an absolute legend of the club the opportunity to reach this milestone in front of one of the biggest audiences we will have all year.

Even my sister who has been a rusted on Geelong supporter for nigh on 70 years, says that Jones is probably her favourite opposition player... to me, that speaks volumes for the man!
