  1. I’m just curious as to whether there has been any change to the average number of free kicks being paid in matches this year. It could be a good opportunity to gauge how much influence the crowds do have on umpires. Anyone here across these kinds of figures at all?
  2. Not certain about the church aspect, although I would not be at all surprised, but there is this in relation to the law: http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/journals/AltLawJl/1992/35.pdf
  3. Thanks matey... I'm learning a lot today ?
  4. I think he may have been talking to himself.
  5. Apparently it has a dodgy history OD https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/04/24/475129558/why-you-probably-shouldnt-say-eskimo Maybe they should change it to Inuit Pie? ?
  6. Facebook, although not perfect by any means, at least allows you to control who gets to see your posts and comment on them. Instagram and Twitter have no such controls (that I'm aware of) and so these trolls have an easy way in to spread their rubbish. One thing I like about Facebook is that it's given me a way of connecting with friends I had lost contact with decades ago. Renewing old friendships seems, to me at least, to be fairly important as we get older.
  7. Should we do the same with bullying in schools? Racism is a form of bullying and as such, must be stamped out. There's only one certainty, if we do nothing then nothing will change.
  8. Precisely! In schools, the bullies are probably just 1% of the student population, but they can, and do, destroy lives of those who are vulnerable to such treatment. Stamp out the small fires before they have a chance to become something much bigger.
  9. weird (or am I doing something wrong in my search?)...
  10. That account no longer exists, thankfully.
  11. Has that always been the case, and if so, is it likely to be the case this year in light of the financial stress being felt across the entire industry?
  12. What makes it a little more ambiguous is the fact the programming lists the coverage (in Foxtel's guide) as Live: Tour de France Etape Classique.
  13. Damn! That’ll teach me to make assumptions based on seeing only the last part of the advert ?
  14. Perhaps his first two tests were negatives, hence the conclusion that he was positive?
  15. Nice to see that the Tour de France is going ahead and starting this Saturday! Not sure how they'll manage the social distancing with the crowds along the road... it's sure to be a logistical nightmare when it comes to maintaining numbers and order; but I'll certainly be watching the greatest sporting event and travel guide known to humankind.
  16. Um, no... that's the job of the virus. Of course the AFL must carry out an investigation of the cause; because they need to determine whether or not McKenna breached their rules. And of course the Health Dept will be investigating as well, just as they do with every case reported as they need to determine what was the nature of the infection. I'm certainly no fan of his, but Gil McLachlan is doing a very good job in what must be an almost impossible situation. I can't even begin to comprehend the logistics that must be involved in trying to keep this competition together and running... you're just [censored] off because it's Melbourne who were involved and who have been inconvenienced. Try looking at it from a broader perspective.
  17. As I understand it, if you have COVID, you are contageous well before you start to show any physical symptoms (that is, during the incubation period), and as it usually takes anywhere between 2 and 14 days to display symptoms, then you would have to imagine that you are contageous from almost day 1. (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-incubation-period/).
  18. Thanks Mr Empathy. You probably should have made that response against my original post where I said that I would hate to see him miss a game that obviously means a lot to him on a personal level, rather than a post describing what that organisation does. It must have been the red mist obscuring your vision.
  19. I have to admit that I’m getting some kind of perverse pleasure out of this year. It’s like watching a train wreck, but more trains keep coming along the track and crashing into the already wrecked trains.
  20. I've been watching the What We Do in the Shadows series on Foxtel... fantastic! Also just started watching an oldish series (2016) Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency on NetFlix and it's shaping up as a brilliant watch.
  21. As I recall, the Saints v Tigers game is officially known as Maddie's Match, in honour of the late Maddie Reiwoldt (Nick's sister and Jack's cousin). It is a major fundraiser for 'Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision', an organisation that was established to fund medical research into finding a cure for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
  22. I wonder if the fact that next week's game has special significance to the Reiwoldt family, has anything to do with the outcome? I'd actually hate to see him miss out on that game.
