  1. Picasso gave away Cubism in 1973 in favour of Deconstructionism which he has successfully been doing ever since. Not to mention that Picasso paid his dues as a superb draftsman prior to his dabbling and then immersing himself in Cubism; that is, in Howe's case. he might need to go back to perfecting his basic skill set in order to give more substance to his more creative approach to the game.
  2. You would expect that he has,,, but then again, it could be a trick of the lens... the old chiaroscuro effect.
  3. Not unless he has given his beard a massive trim and lost a bit off the top.
  4. Classic narcissistic response.
  5. We are talking about the 3rd (or 4th?) most populous country on the planet and we see a handful of their people burning flags and effigies, so it's hardly a cause for tarring them all with the same brush. I would say that it is more a case of the press (or even govt) getting hold of a few stooges for a staged demonstration while the vast majority of their people are going about their normal daily routines and not giving a thought to Australia at all.
  6. Don't worry, you're funny... in a sad kind of a way. ;-)
  7. Seems we have now passed 20,000 members which is 2700 ahead of where we were at this time last year. From the MFC site.
  8. Salem was also a brand of cigarettes... should we call him "Menthols"?...or, god forbid, "F ag"? Or maybe he'll get the name "Slalem" in honor of our supposed love of skiing.
  9. Maybe I'm living in the past, but I could never understand what was so wrong with the old black shorts/white shorts thing where the jumper was always the same - maybe someone just wanted to make more money out of us suckers.
  10. Not to mention the fact that he seems to have forgotten that he had not been averse to using the "like" button himself (particularly when someone took his side in an argument).
  11. Like!
  12. Thanks for the report McQueen... great for us interstaters as you well know ;-) Were there any notable absentees? And, if he was there and training, how was Dawes looking?
  13. One reason may be that it is a simple matter of uploading an image to Twitter. To show photos here requires a Tumblr (for example) or similar account to which you upload images and then link to them from here. So, it may just be he posts to twitter for convenience sake. Twitter is far from ego stroking as the only people who see your posts are those who follow you. Personally, I like twitter as a great source of information as many journos, people with links to the arts etc have accounts and post links to breaking news, events etc.
  14. Salem would have been the club's first realistic choice and any of those who went earlier that they may have been interested in, would have been speculative (if he gets this far, forget Salem and grab him).
  15. Yeah, I do get it right occasionally.... very occasionally
  16. If you read above you will see it is said he is very quick over the first 15m after which he can't sustain his pace... but he has plenty of other skills that more than negate that.
  17. It appears to be an intermittent problem... I have found that sometimes when you click on the Quote button nothing will appear quoted, but when you go back and click again, the quote appears; probably 8 or 9 times out of 10 it works just fine. Doesn't appear to be browser related as I have had it happen in both Safari and Firefox (never use IE) and both of those are always kept up to date.
  18. Would you prefer we never got Roos?... because that was the condition he stipulated and the condition under which he signed on. I'm sure Roos would love Frawley and Hogan to extend their contracts, but I doubt he is as concerned as posters on Demonland... he would understand that they might like to see how things are looking under the new regime before committing beyond their current contracts.
  19. This is the best policy (being happy with any of the three)... I have been leaning towards Salem since I first started that combined Freeman/Salem thread ages ago... so I know I'm going to feel a little let down if he goes earlier than pick 9 or if we pass and take someone else instead.
  20. That's been going on you a long time now... best policy is to apply the old adage, if at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Still, it's better than the opposite problem where some posters manage to get twice the quoter quota of quotes per response.
  21. I don't disagree... I just think that at the time, no-one knew what was coming re Mugabe's transformation to raving looney.
  22. Not sure that that goes against anything I said. At the time, Mugabe was considered a hero amongst his people and so would have been considered the logical choice as leader. Fraser may have had input, but really the ball was set in motion by the British (Lord Carington).
  23. That's a bit unfair RF... everyone was recognising the Mugabe regime at the time because the whites were no longer in control... at the time it was considered a step in the right direction and no-one could see what was coming (Mugabe had been a political prisoner, much like Mandella I suppose, for a number of years under Ian Smith's minority govt). I was watching the documentary Marley the other day and was surprised to see him playing at Mugabe's independence celebrations in 1980 (despite the fact Mugabe wasn't that keen on having him perform)... but when you think about it, at the time it made perfect sense.
