  1. I grew up reading the old DC and Marvel comics in the 60's, and then later comics like Heavy Metal, Zap, Young Lust, Mr Zippy etc in the 70's (not superheroes, but I was, and still am, a big Robert Crumb fan). I also grew up with Astro Boy, Prince Planet, Gigantor (Tetsujin 28), Stingray, Supercar, Thunderbirds etc on the TV as well as the original Superman and Batman TV series. Back then there was a nice innocence to them which is lacking these days, but I have to admit I do like the grittiness of Christopher Nolan's Batman... Tim Burton's was fun, but it lacked the campy quality of the Adam West character and had none of the hard edge that Nolan brings. Ultraman was another superhero I came to enjoy a lot after many trips to Japan. Now I just need to get over there again to see the ginormous statues of Gundam (in Tokyo?) and Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor) in Kobe (or is it Kyoto?).
  2. I think buddy's having a coke... if you believe what is in the Sydney starting to crack thread.
  3. Well, if he finds (or is taught to find) the heart for a contest, then perhaps he WILL become the "little Aussie bleeder"?
  4. "Someone I know with connections to the club told me...<insert BS here>"
  5. I don't want to see any.
  6. Off topic, but just out of interest, who are you playing with in the Sydney comp?
  7. But none-the-less, his statement that I commented on, was in essence correct.
  8. Since when are leadership qualities and the ability to remain uninjured and kick few goals, one and the same thing? When he was on the field he showed leadership in spades, when he fronted the media he showed leadership in spades, and no doubt around the MFC between games, he showed leadership as well.
  9. Well, at least one of those statements is pretty much correct.
  10. Oh, and this is definitely NOT the list... at the end of 2014 it is not unreasonable to think that another 5 or 6 could be gone and there is certainly no guarantee that we won't be getting a top 10 pick again next year (in fact, it's probably odds on that we will).
  11. With our help, I'm hopeful we can make Territory the best poster he can possibly be.
  12. As you're heading out of the city on the train, it's on your right just before you get to Richmond station... so exit the station to the right side and walk back towards the city along Olympic Boulevard for about 200 - 300 metres and you are there. Easy as.
  13. Arrogant?? You've obviously never spoken to him. It's called self belief.
  14. I'd be happy if he turns out to be Plugger V2
  15. You might be surprised how a change in attitude can lead to a sudden improvement in mobility and desire to get the ball. He was able to do it before, and with a new dawn approaching at the MFC, he may find he is able to do it again.
  16. I think we might see a rejuvenated Jamar in 2014. It was obvious to all and sundry that he and Moloney had a synergy that worked well and last year Jamar was obviously at a loss as to how to work with others. I am hopeful that Roos will be able to develop a similar pairing with someone like Vince or Tyson. If he can, then we will be looking good with Gawn, Spencer, Fitz and Clark all there as second ruck options. Fingers crossed!
  17. Ridiculous comment... hope we take him just to p!ss you off. I for one think he would be a good get if he costs us nothing.
  18. Wish I was that fat
  19. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. The "illegals" I am talking about are people who arrived here on tourist or student visas and subsequently overstayed. They are illegal in the fact that they are remaining in the country without an accepted visa and they are not registered as asylum seekers (look again at where I said most of them have come from). If you look at my earlier posts you will find a link to the Adelaide Advertiser where the figures are presented... they were obtained from Govt agencies. My assertion was that it is probably correct to say that the bulk of Asylum Seekers do arrive by boat as their options are probably pretty limited by their circumstances... and yes, I also stated that they are NOT illegals.
  20. Most asylum seekers I believe do arrive by boat... the stats I cited earlier in this thread were stating that the bulk of "illegal immigrants" (big difference as asylum seeking is NOT against the law), the bulk of illegals arrive legally and end up overstaying or overstaying and disappearing themselves... these are mostly Chinese, Americans, New Zealanders, Brits etc.
  21. I am surprised you haven't mentioned him, but I would rate Dahlhaus ahead of just about every Dogs player you have listed.
  22. Yes, on that we do agree... I just don't believe our responsibility ends with that, that's all; I believe we have a duty of care.
  23. Stynes was almost unanimously considered one of the most effective ruckmen of his era (not sure what you mean by hurt factor), Farmer was not consistent, but what he managed to do was freakish, and who ever said longevity and being a star must go hand in hand? Most stars are flawed.
  24. You state that a large proportion of people arriving were not fleeing persecution, yet you provide absolutely no substantive evidence of this. In the figures I cited above from the Adelaide Advertiser, if you followed the link, you would have seen that of the almost 4500 in detention at that time, over a third were from Afghanistan and it could reasonable be assumed that they were indeed fleeing persecution and possible life threatening situations. Many from Sri Lanka were and are no doubt in a similar situation. Yes, the smugglers must be stopped, but at the same time the asylum seekers must not be abandoned. Yes our borders must be protected, but in what way are these asylum seekers posing a threat? Yes we should determine who our residents are, so why do you ignore the fact that the vast majority of our illegals enter legally and then stay illegally?
  25. Stynes, Flower, Farmer, Jakovich were all stars... and that is just a quick grab without going through any lists. Maybe I have the benefit of being able to compare these people to the stars that went before them in the 50's and 60's. And what's this "I'll go easy on you" rubbish?... you are posting on an internet forum remember? In your view, that means that your words are meaningless, remember?
