  1. Don't know if anyone else saw this, but as I was flicking around the Foxtel menus this morning, on Fox Sports 3 (I think it was) in the Program Guide, it has "Coming: AFL Draft..." along with a couple of other sporting events. When I clicked on the Info button on my Fox remote, the program information that is displayed says something about (and I am paraphrasing badly here) "...all draft picks from pick 27 onwards...". That seems like a pretty random number to me... does anyone have a clue as to what that is about?
  2. It's the vibe... it's just, you know, the vibe.
  3. Would love us to RD him (if there are no such plans for Nev Jetta)... I get the feeling he fits the mould of the small player type like by Roos.
  4. I have always had a bit of time for Banfield... pretty sure he tore us apart on more than one occasion. Definitely worth a look in my opinion.
  5. Yep... he was a nice guy (well, on the rare occasions I got a word)... have a nice photo from last year with him and my son (who will be disappointed to hear the news). I have two jumpers I have purchased through site auctions, Warnock's Shanghai jumper and Jurrah's St Patricks Day jumper... Nev can't blame me for this one.
  6. I grew up reading the old DC and Marvel comics in the 60's, and then later comics like Heavy Metal, Zap, Young Lust, Mr Zippy etc in the 70's (not superheroes, but I was, and still am, a big Robert Crumb fan). I also grew up with Astro Boy, Prince Planet, Gigantor (Tetsujin 28), Stingray, Supercar, Thunderbirds etc on the TV as well as the original Superman and Batman TV series. Back then there was a nice innocence to them which is lacking these days, but I have to admit I do like the grittiness of Christopher Nolan's Batman... Tim Burton's was fun, but it lacked the campy quality of the Adam West character and had none of the hard edge that Nolan brings. Ultraman was another superhero I came to enjoy a lot after many trips to Japan. Now I just need to get over there again to see the ginormous statues of Gundam (in Tokyo?) and Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor) in Kobe (or is it Kyoto?).
  7. I think buddy's having a coke... if you believe what is in the Sydney starting to crack thread.
  8. Well, if he finds (or is taught to find) the heart for a contest, then perhaps he WILL become the "little Aussie bleeder"?
  9. "Someone I know with connections to the club told me...<insert BS here>"
  10. Off topic, but just out of interest, who are you playing with in the Sydney comp?
  11. But none-the-less, his statement that I commented on, was in essence correct.
  12. Since when are leadership qualities and the ability to remain uninjured and kick few goals, one and the same thing? When he was on the field he showed leadership in spades, when he fronted the media he showed leadership in spades, and no doubt around the MFC between games, he showed leadership as well.
  13. Well, at least one of those statements is pretty much correct.
  14. Oh, and this is definitely NOT the list... at the end of 2014 it is not unreasonable to think that another 5 or 6 could be gone and there is certainly no guarantee that we won't be getting a top 10 pick again next year (in fact, it's probably odds on that we will).
  15. With our help, I'm hopeful we can make Territory the best poster he can possibly be.
  16. As you're heading out of the city on the train, it's on your right just before you get to Richmond station... so exit the station to the right side and walk back towards the city along Olympic Boulevard for about 200 - 300 metres and you are there. Easy as.
  17. Arrogant?? You've obviously never spoken to him. It's called self belief.
  18. I'd be happy if he turns out to be Plugger V2
  19. You might be surprised how a change in attitude can lead to a sudden improvement in mobility and desire to get the ball. He was able to do it before, and with a new dawn approaching at the MFC, he may find he is able to do it again.
  20. I think we might see a rejuvenated Jamar in 2014. It was obvious to all and sundry that he and Moloney had a synergy that worked well and last year Jamar was obviously at a loss as to how to work with others. I am hopeful that Roos will be able to develop a similar pairing with someone like Vince or Tyson. If he can, then we will be looking good with Gawn, Spencer, Fitz and Clark all there as second ruck options. Fingers crossed!
  21. Ridiculous comment... hope we take him just to p!ss you off. I for one think he would be a good get if he costs us nothing.
  22. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. The "illegals" I am talking about are people who arrived here on tourist or student visas and subsequently overstayed. They are illegal in the fact that they are remaining in the country without an accepted visa and they are not registered as asylum seekers (look again at where I said most of them have come from). If you look at my earlier posts you will find a link to the Adelaide Advertiser where the figures are presented... they were obtained from Govt agencies. My assertion was that it is probably correct to say that the bulk of Asylum Seekers do arrive by boat as their options are probably pretty limited by their circumstances... and yes, I also stated that they are NOT illegals.
  23. Most asylum seekers I believe do arrive by boat... the stats I cited earlier in this thread were stating that the bulk of "illegal immigrants" (big difference as asylum seeking is NOT against the law), the bulk of illegals arrive legally and end up overstaying or overstaying and disappearing themselves... these are mostly Chinese, Americans, New Zealanders, Brits etc.
