  1. Well, I guess you could look at that as being due to the fact that film schools tried to adopt that as a standard wen the likes of Polanski, Bergman and Fellini were all de rigeur Which film school by the way? I studied graphic art at Swinburne in the very early 70's and had some contact (more on a social level) with people in the Film & TV school - my only recollection of anything film related then in my studies, was some visiting "expert" talking to us on how they blue-screened everything in The Sound of Music... they sent just a camera crew to the alps to film the scenery; apparently not a single actor actually set foot in Austria (or Switzerland?). As for me, I'm just a fan of film, so I'm not professing any knowledge on the technical aspects
  2. Not sure I will be able to get along to the festival yet - finances and other plans allowing or not. (what is the film you have playing there?). Re Repulsion... I saw both that and Images for the first time in 1972, so not having been over exposed to SFX at that time, I found myself pretty immersed in Repulsion (especially the hallway scene with the groping hands)... also, considering Repulsion was made in 1965, the effects weren't too shabby - yes, not exactly Harryhausen, but still pretty ok ;-) If you have time for a drink when you are here, let me know. Would be good to start connecting names with faces on this forum.
  3. Actually, even if he DOES wear MFC attire, it will also mean nothing.
  4. Yep, just came up on my Twitter feed... excellent news!!
  5. As was Woey from memory.
  6. I'm sure you'll be able to find a nice little bar in the Favela where they will be live streaming ;-)
  7. Well, you are a doctor.
  8. If he wasn't before, he is now.
  9. Should have used the Shower Scene from Psycho version... a kind of "stay away from the brown acid" cut.
  10. Maybe the MRP take into account that Brown has broken just about every bone in his head and have a "not quite there" dispensation they invoke for such occasions.
  11. Yeah, know what you mean... you have to travel all the way from East Melbourne and Barn Dee, who started this whole whinge over start times, only has a mere 300km drive ahead of him.
  12. We are in this with a real chance... and whatever the final result, it is patently obvious that we are on the way up!
  13. Brilliant play to get that goal!
  14. Grimes should lose his co-captaincy for that effort!
  15. Bail is great with the snaps!
  16. Jetta and Dunn are having fantastic games... and a nice goal to Salem. We're holding our own since they had that early 4 goal break... and another!!
  17. And is it Maxwell who's been subbed off with a his leg on ice?... they just said he may miss weeks as well.
  18. The MFC has always had pretty tasteful "special occasion" jumpers... the St Pat's Day green (I bought Jurrah's at auction), the Field of Women with the pink V and lady print, the Shanghai Showdown with the dragon on the side and players name in Chinese characters (bought Warnock's at auction - see a theme happening here? I better not buy anymore) and now this Indigenous Round jumper. Kudos to our designers.
  19. Not keen on the Eagles' effort... has me wondering if they will be entering the field of play decked out in turquoise jewellery and running through a giant dream catcher.
  20. Crows, Kangas, Swans, Freos and ours I like... the award for the worst has to go to the Cats... why couldn't they have done something similar to the Kangas to take the stripes out of the foreground (really really poor effort). I also like the fact that the Swans design was done by Goodes' mother; makes it a little more "special" (to paraphrase Bruce McAvaney) I suppose.
  21. It would only be selling out if they were sitting on their arses doing nothing but count their money (a la Scully). Instead Judd on numerous occasions lifted Carlton off the mat to drag them across the line for a win. Ablett has gone on to win the Brownlow (and likely his third this year) after continually puting in the kinds of performance the big bucks were outlayed for. They have not sold out at all... they have taken the opportunity to be paid their market value and to take on new a tougher challenges after tasting success at their former clubs. Franklin and Goddard are also now proving their worth at their respective new clubs... yes Franklin didn't spark immediately, but he is now starting to display the kind of footy that will justify his pay packet. To talk of loyalty these days is laughable... as soon as the draft was introduced and the players chances of getting to the club they supported as a kid were gone, loyalty went out of the window.
  22. My favourite Altman film is Images... originally, the explanation for it not being released on DVD was that the original print was supposedly lost, but then suddenly it appeared on DVD. Excellent psychological thriller that I first saw around the same time as Polanski's Repulsion (which although rather more visceral, had a few similarities).
  23. I think whichever was chosen, the MFC would have done well... particularly Dangerfield who as well as being an elite mid is also very handy up forward..
