  1. He had a really bad day and he ADMITTED it and vowed that it wouldn't happen again. He is too good a player to be ruthlessly discarded. His skills are just sublime.
  2. Reading through these posts it looks like we have a degree of tolerance for Geelong, Footscray and the Dockers. I guess we do feel a bit sorry for the Bullies since their premiership wait is 10 years longer than our own and the Dockers haven't made it yet. I guess we just respect Geelong and their achievements.
  3. 1. COLLINGWOOD clear winners! 1958 is the perfect reason to hate them. 2. WEST COAST I live in Perth, say no more! ( Don't mind the Dockers though.) 3. NORTH MELBOURNE Always regarded them as a dirty team nicknamed the 'shin boners' for good reason. 4. ESSENDON Mainly because just about all the kids in Frankston PS barracked for them in the 1950's. They wore the same jumpers as Frankston footy team.
  4. One thing for sure, he has not updated his thoughts on Jack Watts and his burning passion for Nik Nat who 'lights up Subi oval' with his big leap, hair and an average of 8 possessions per game.
  5. That's IF he gets a game.
  6. No, not yet. We need at least two more top draft picks and a couple of experienced players of the likes of Brown, Goodes etc. Not suggesting these two, just players of similar ability but younger. As I have said before, IMO, we have recruited well this year and a repeat performance would stand us in good stead for a premiership. I think Gawn could be the key. If he can keep fit he will improve our ruck strength immeasurably and he does have more versatility around the ground than Jamar. I would love to see Mark do more around the ground even though he is a workhorse in the ruck. Jesse Hogan too will be a key figure in our climb up the ladder next year. Only time will tell with these predictions.
  7. I'm one of those rabbits I'm afraid. This means I delete the great Ron but leave in the Ox and Stephen Tingay.
  8. I'm sure you will not be surprised with my player. Ronald Dale Barassi. In more recent times I would go for Stephen Tingay or The Ox.
  9. Is big Max a chance to resume by mid season? Fit, he could be the answer and give Sandi a bit of height opposition.
  10. Shows the importance of the NAB Cup don't you think?
  11. If this was our line up for round one then we have no fewer than seven new faces. We have recruited well in my opinion and a lot of the 'deadwood' has gone. Maybe, I would like to see Sellar in there somewhere. If he performs well again next week against the Saints he will be in for sure. I hope the selectors try and pick a really competitive team for this game. I must say I was surprised with today's result since we had so many top players out. It could auger well for the future and our depth of our team though. Wouldn't it be great too if Aaron could return to his brilliant form in his early years? It would be a huge fillip for the team.
  12. A great example of this would be the 1956 Melbourne team. What a combination.
  13. Exactly. They don't have a lot of star players but boy, how they tackle, meet the ball with fearless body work. How they hunt in packs, support each other. That's what I want Melbourne to emulate. The champions just add icing to the cake e.g. Goodes.
  14. You are starting early dazzledavey!
  15. True, it was a win IF we had the NORMAL scoring system. We won by a point! A good effort indeed.
  16. Many thanks autocol, I have lived a sheltered life! I'm afraid I took the original comment at face value.
  17. It just seemed a bit strange that people agreed that Kent played well on a dry, warm day and yet one poster claimed that he would be a better wet weather footballer. Hard to grasp the logic here. Help me out here bing181.
  18. I don't know whether I would agree with this statement since Dean Kent comes from the West where wet grounds are rare. He would have played 90% of his football on dry, firm surfaces.
  19. What a great acquisition Mitch Clark has been both on and off the field and what a wonderful example he sets for our youngsters. Let's hope we see plenty of 'on the field 'contribution from this very admirable person.
  20. Caro sure had plenty of rebuffs from readers following her pathetic little piece of illogical crap. Gee, she could make her hatred and bitterness towards Melbourne a little less obvious.
  21. I was watching a replay of Melbourne V Suns (2012) at the local shopping centre today. A nearby shopkeeper came across and stated with a grin, "You obviously are a Demon fan and at least you can be sure THEY didn't use performance enhancing drugs." No need to elaborate is there?
  22. He was just expressing an opinion. He is entitled to that. What's more he could be spot on! I too feel Jack will have a breakout year. He has too much talent for it not to happen.
  23. I would like this line up: J. Beckwith, P.Marquis, T. Johnson D.Williams, N. McMahen, K. Carroll Oops! I think I may be living in the past a bit. No doubt influenced by the MFC questionnaire with a chance of winning a framed print of 'THE GREATEST MELBOURNE SIDE OF ALL' That wonderful 1956 team.
  24. I agree. They must be thinking of someone else. He was a VERY good footballer have no doubt. One of our best in this era. Very cool, calm and collected.
  25. Exactly, and McMahon was not a reliable kick for goal. Not one you would put your house on to kick it.
