Casey Scorpions v Port Melbourne @ Casey Fields
Bobby McKenzie replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tyson was a revelation last year. just wait until the real season starts before you downgrade him. Strange that you nominate Garlett as needing to improve. He has been pretty impressive so far and Jetta has performed well too. Watts should be placed in your saviour list. He holds the key to our future. -

Is he really that skinny Ralphius? -
The Good The bad and the very F Ugly
Bobby McKenzie replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
The bad things have already been mentioned many times over. My good was Jack Watts showing real aggression and physicality. That's great to see. Garlett and Lumumba too helped to cheer me up on a bleak afternoon's footy. -
It's very puzzling. I saw the Freo game and apart from one quarter we were excellent. Our teamwork was fluent and cohesive and our tackling ferocious. We were brilliant for the first half last week and then petered right out. What happened there? I still cling to the feeling that we will improve this season and improve well. How can we gain the services of HL, Jeff Garlett, VanDenberg, Frost, Newton and Hogan and NOT improve? It defies logic to think that we can't improve. Bring on the real season and see how we go.

If all our players were delisted by another club...

Jack Watts sublime skills alone not enough for you? They don't all have to be bashers/tough guys. I respect your thoughts though mate. -
A good looking line up. Maybe I would swap Dunn and Frost positions. Frost is going to be a fantastic rebound defender alongside Lumumba.

I attended this game( Thanks a lot to fellow Demonlander EthanTremblay) and was very much impressed with what I saw. Fremantle oval provided a pleasant setting and the ground looked in great condition. I was mainly focussing on our new recruits performances. What did please me was the attack on the opponent and on the ball. We were relentless. Freo had to earn this win. I was thrilled with the performances of Sam Frost, Harry, Van den Berg and Hogan. Frost and Van den berg were fast, fearless and fantastic. What great pick ups. Hogan could have been awarded a couple of frees as he was being mauled by his immediate opponent. He was also fearless attacking the ball. Mention has been made of Newton and Kent and how well they played. It must have been up the other end for I did not notice them. This does not mean they did not play well however. Garlett didn't win a lot of the ball but was chasing and tackling well. He will be fine. Overall, a big improvement on last season.

I would like to think 9 wins is our pass mark this season.

Fair enough comment. We can only wait and see with fingers crossed how we go on game day in the real season. Great to see Salem dominating. He is an exciting talent. -

Why the lack of confidence DemonOX? I thought the report was very positive indeed. Maybe you read something in it that I missed. -
Players You Respect From Other Clubs
Bobby McKenzie replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sadly we passed over Stevie Johnson in the draft. Would have been very useful. I love the way Ablett goes about his work and one has to admire Fyfe for his true abilities. Nick R too is a champion player and guy. I was also a great admirer of Paul Chapman at his peak playing for Geelong. Tom $cully would easily lead the field in players I don't admire. Having said that, maybe Mitch Clark could be a rival. -
Do you just turn up and buy tickets at the ground?

Jeff Garlett Misses Court Appearance
Bobby McKenzie replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Of course, my last sentence was tongue in cheek but the rest was serious. There are quite a lot of pessimists on the forum. -
Jeff Garlett Misses Court Appearance
Bobby McKenzie replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's right! All the doomsayers lamenting the present situation will be cheering loudly when Garlett kicks a bag of goals. Talk about classic knee jerk reaction by many on this forum. Maybe, just maybe, Jeff missed the court appearance because of club training or team meeting. -
Best 22 based on Pre Season form
Bobby McKenzie replied to Barney Rubble's topic in Melbourne Demons
You don't rate Bail despite him playing most games last season? -
Very sad news. Best wishes to Nick and his family. He is one of the greats of the game and highly respected.
