  1. Why isn't Oliver good enough? He is in a class all on his own. Guts, Skills what more does he need? He is a brilliant footballer.

I remember another team who wore yellow and black known as the ninth place specialists. Look at them now and the last few seasons.

Definitely another year. Should have played many more games in the place of Tom McD. I like a player with courage and smarts. Keep.

Well, as expected its all over but lets look at the positives, 1. We rose from 17th to 9th; Quite a rise and a big percentage improvement . 2, We beat old rivals, Carlton, Collingwood , Essendon and Hawthorn all in one season. WHEN DID WE LAST ACHIEVE SUCH A FEAT? Long, long time ago me thinks. We also nearly took the honours against Geelong with a missed gettable goal after the siren and had a real chance to beat Brisbane losing by 4 points. We took care of St Kilda and North Melbourne, teams that have had the wood on us for many years. Finishing higher than Sydney and GWS too must be noted as positives. 3. Our two early draft picks showed that they will be stars of the future and Ed Langdon was a wonderful addition to our list. Young Rivers too gives hope for the future. Individually, we had positives with the potential AA selection of Petracca, Stephen May and Max Gawn. We are nowhere near perfect yet but heading in the right direction. Go DEMONS 2021 and beyond.
  5. Nice to have a sane, clear thinking poster. Too many, who winning an important game does not satisfy. They want perfection which sadly does not exist in the rigours of AFL football. Well spoken layzie.

Maybe we could loan Ed Langdon to the Dockers for the day. He is so fit I'm sure he could still run all day. We want him back though!! What a wonderful recruit he has been all season.
  7. Add Aaron vandenBerg to your list.
  8. 6. Viney 5. Rivers 4. Langdon 3. Fritsch 2. May 1. VandenBerg
  9. Joe boy You are too black and white. Win, we have so many good players, lose we have few. Today we lost by 28 points not 128 points. Yet you could find only two players worth their salt. They must have played brilliantly to keep the losing margin under 5 goals. Sorry mate, but today you were over the top in your criticism. BUT that is your perogative. I simply beg to differ.

Make that 70 years. I would like to include my namesake as one of the great Number Twos.
  11. I think they are gradually easing Harley into our top 22. Match fitness will improve with another one or two in the reserves and we can have his skills for a longer period of time than his first game with us. But it was confusing that he was selected for the postponed Essendon game and then not selected for the following week. Management they would probably call it.

In a post match interview Clarkson expressed his concern for the serious deterioration of AFL football as a spectacle. He cited the Melbourne V Geelong halftime scoreline of just 2 goals apiece. He said this was not acceptable from TWO TEAMS THAT HE BELIEVES WILL PLAY FINALS THIS YEAR. Obviously he has more faith in our Demons than many of our posters here. Is he speaking as an ex Melbourne player or is his opinion based on true belief in our latent potential? Remember he is an astute and highly respected and successful coach. Your thoughts please.
  13. Bring back Bernie Vince. Just seeing Bernie would give Danger the shivers.( a polite term used here).
  14. Feel really sorry for AVB. He has waited so long to pull on a Melbourne jumper and now this. Hopefully there will be a next week.
  15. Three Melbourne reps in team of the year. Assuming that is Alan Johnson and Brett Lovett. Wow!

Can some kind person tell me who the player is that is on the right of Rod Grinter? Fourth from the left. Face is familiar but I can't put a name to it. Thanks in advance.
  18. Agree all the way Sue. Thats been my thoughts for a while. Even the umpires should be able to count to three. When I was umpiring footy matches at school I used this rule and the game flowed and this was twenty years ago! So simple to Interpret. Very black and white.
  19. Also had the most talented players maybe? Bob McKenzie (snr), Robert Flower, Stephen Tingay and Nathan Jones during my lifetime. Not a bad quartet.
  20. And what a champion player he was. Dasher Williams!
  21. Stinga is my choice in a hard one to decide. Jako was great too.
  22. Sadly, season 2020 is done and dusted. But something to be cheerful about. We only lost ONE game for the whole season! Whereas Collingwood only WON one game for the entire season. Chin up everybody and stay healthy.
  23. Tiger Ridley was also known as Tiddles Jacko - Mark Jackson
  24. Yachter Ralph Lane Bluey Adams
  25. You don't seem to like Brown do you? An earlier post would confirm that. There were quite a lot worse than him today.
