  1. Even the great Ron Barassi had to have a few goes before he made the big time. And boy was it ever big time!
  2. I love this kid already. We have kept him nice and secret and fresh for the finals. What a brilliant player he is going to be for us over the next decade and a half. Well done Jake! I was coach of the1973 Cheltenham High(Jake's recent School) footy team. I also coached the late and great Trevor Barker at the same school. Looks like my coaching skills live on. Ha ha. But I really did coach Trev at Chelt High.Go Dees you CAN Do It!!!!
  3. Reading the early views of his initial listing to the club. "Too small" was the call from a few posters. No way, he is going to be great for us over many many seasons. What composure. I remember early comments about Clarry saying that he was a surprise selection and was a poor choice. How wrong were they? Clarry is an out and out champion. Cant believe the things he can do with that piece of leather. Would be a very worthy Brownlow Medallist.
  4. Very pleasing news. He is a good footballer and a dedicated Demon. Lucky for us young Petty has been a good replacement.
  5. He is most definitely ahead of Chandler who has done nothing in his limited games.Much more valuable. Young Chandler has a lot of developing to do.
  6. Yes, a poor game from Ben should not make him an inclusion next week. Reward best performers in twos.
  7. Would it be such a risk if his form in the twos was good? He is not completely hopeless you know. Just saying.
  8. Sadly, but understandably, it appears that Jonesy has been gently placed on the football scrap heap. In view of his magnificent contribution to his beloved Demons, I would hope, that IF we make the Grand Final, he will be named as medical sub. Then, in the last 10 minutes with us safely in front(knowing Melbourne it would have to be at least 8 goals!), one of our boys would be "concussed" and Jonesy given a free run to be on the field when the final siren sounded. What a fitting end this would be to a wonderful career. Thoughts?
  9. Agree. Sam is a major disappointment. Give Ben and Mitch go. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Mitch is very versatile too
  10. Bad Sport Joe Fairweather supporter Joe
  11. Sam is trying very hard and leading well BUT he has to hang on to those marks. Too many being dropped lately. Jackson too at present must hang on to his marks but boy he is going to be a ripper very soon.
  12. Agree, and he runs down plenty!!! Always thought he was quick but maybe not as quick as those my list. Could be very wrong here.
  13. Not very long ago we were rated as being too slow. Not so the case today. Ran Brisbane off their feet. My top speed demons are (not necessarily in order) Jayden Hunt, Ed Langdon, Kossie, Clarry, Charlie Spargo and Rivers. Have I missed any?
  14. Mitch was right up to AFL standard in his last two games last season. Brownlow votes v Essendon. How does that equate to not up to AFL standards?
  15. Agree. Couldn't do worse than Weid or BBB at the moment. He leads well and has greater versatility and agility. Even can play in defence if required.
  16. Thanks again mate. I thought I thanked you yesterday though. Don't know what happened to my reply. Cheers.
  17. Excuse my ignorance. Who are the two boys on Steven May's right? Maybe Bedford and who?
  18. Ask Mitch Brown about this.
  19. Agree with all the comments on Rivers. He really is an absolute pearl. Fancy drafting Jackson, Kozzy and Rivers all in the same year. The huge improvement in Neal Bullen Spargo and Hunt has given us so much team depth. ANB in particular is so hard at it and knows where the goals are.
  20. Brighton Grammar has produced not only Jack but current players Jayden Hunt and Christian Salim. Are there others I have missed?
  21. Noticed also that Viv Michie plays for Collegians in A section.
  22. I too have been so impressed by ANB this season. However, surely Ed Langdon would equal or even better ANB's workrate.
  23. Like you Jaded I believe we are really on the the cusp of being great. I am an oldie who watched the champion Melbourne teams of the 50s. What we saw today in the last quarter was exactly what those champion teams did almost every week. Ground them into the turf. And when did we have a percentage like we have today? Max Gawn? It's impossible to find words to describe this Hercules. What a champion and inspiration to the team..
  24. Good summing up of our brave, fearless girls Kev. I just love the determination and guts shown. Like having a team of Ron Barassi's. Go Demons on Saturday and Sunday!
  25. Think Barassi would be at least Robbie's equal. So lucky to have seen both play. Different styles but the same value to the team.
