  1. Sad to hear the news of Peters' passing, Thoughts go to his family and friends.
  2. He has my vote as well, been very keen on him when he elected to play for Casey, and not Frankston. Big, strong and has some mongrel in him, just what we need, Have some defenders etc to have the 'wind' put up them. Hasnt played much, at Casey, I'm thinking (hoping) MFC wanted to keep him 'low profile". We could do worse, than rookie him for next year.
  3. Very good, had a chuckle with that comment! Wont be a LTI A scrape, and in and out with a full replacement Be back on the track in no time.
  4. Who do they remind me of ?...I'll say Scully reminds me of Judd (but some credit to dee-luded, I can see a likeness of Paul Kelly in him - Kelly could run all day) and Trengove I'll agree with some others - Jimmy Bartel. Better left foot than Bartel. Cant say I can compare Scully to anyone else, I think he'll end up being added to an elite list on his own. Time will tell. He is still delevoping, as he gets stronger, I would expect his kicking to be more penatrating. So I'll take a backseat on a comparision for now. As for Trennners, every time I see him, I think back to Alan Johnson. As I do that I try to convince myself its ONLY because he is wearing number 9 But then sometimes, he'll take a mark, or run to position to receive or give off a handball There I remember Jonno, Jonno was a silky mover, a brillant kick and a great mark for his size. As I type this I am still thinking its because he wears N09. No way a dead ringer for Jonno, but he reminds me of him.
  5. I would expect a rising star nomination on that performance. If none forecoming a well done from me!!! Nice article btw.
  6. Hoping this means when we are one of the better teams,we will no longer have to venture down there. (memo that to the AFL) Always seems twice as long driving back, after a loss from down there. Ah well, it wont be too much longer to wait, when we kick their sorry butts, any place any time!
  7. Won't really matter if its 99, just hoping he makes it to MFC.
  8. I've been keeping tabs on him since prior to the 2010 draft. All the info I had, has been posted,so cant add anything new. He rejected the chance to play with his old mans team, and went to where Jay Viney played. He cant have Todds N0 12 unless Sylvia hands it over. But he could be a chance for N0 26 Jay Vineys old jumper. Currently worn by J.Meesen Off topic. Is there another James coming our way? J.Grinter - Rods kid. From the limited sources I tracked down, might be an outside chance to make it.
  9. All I'll say .. until its confirmed by the club & player is.... Pre season, the media had Davey signed up and off to the bombers.
  10. If anyone is interested,I wandered down to Casey Fields (Casey 2nds vs Werribee 2nds) to check on Wona, Spencer, and Sam Blease, and to see what other talent was on offer. It was a steady drizzle driving to the ground. The game kicked off at midday.By then the rain had stopped, but made conditions slippery under foot. I was paying more attention to Wona,Blease,Spencer but 3 Casey players stood out for me. Wona: Didnt set the game alight, but played in spasms, when he was up and going, he was pretty good. Kicked a few nice goals, but generally still needed to be more involved. Spencer: Played a very good game, took some nice grabs, considering it was a slippery ball. Played in the ruck, spent a small amount of time @ FF. One passage of play he gave a Werribee rover, approx a 10 mtr head start, run him down and grabbed him as he kicked the ball. (Not bad for a big bloke I thought) Blease: Did some nice things when the ball came his way. Nice kick, and good skills when under the 'pump' But was mostly a bystander for 90% of the game. I didnt get too see any of his 'blistering' pace. Chris Connolly was in attentance, which was surpring to see him taking a interest. Afterall this was Casey Reserves. I had a short chat to him, before departing. Summary: Of the 3 MFC listed players, probably Spencer was the pick of the bunch. But Wona got thru and looked to be a lot slimmer than when I last watched him play.He chased and tackled, just needed to be more involved.
  11. It always takes the taller guys a lot longer to develop. Martin along with PJ are 2 that still can improve a lot more. Playing in a team with their 'tails' up makes it a lot easlier to go to the next level. Hoping both can step up during this year. Maybe Fiztpatrick is another that will do so in the next few years. If they can, are tall brigade isnt looking as bad as it looks right now. Enjoying the ride, also expecting the lows during the year.
  12. Way too early to call. Its all spectulation. 8 weeks ago, Bartram had his locker cleaned out and his bags were packed. He was gone, Miller was our only forward. (read the past threads) Sheeze. Bartram has been going ok, Miller is at Casey. Things can turn around very quickly. making calls on the list at this stage,is way too early in the season. But heard a 'whisper' MFC has been down at Sandy Dragons sniffing out a young tall. I was told his name, but this info was passed on 2nd hand, but they heard it from the player concerned. Unless I had heard it 1st hand,I'm not about to 'speculate/confirm' any names. I would expect MFC to sound out all potental talent way before the season ends, then decide who they will target to draft, along with who will be moved on. I hope they keep an eye on Scott Simpson who signed up with Casey this year,he was delisted by Geelong. A 20yr tall powerful FF on our doorstep, but havent seen him listed to play at Casey in the 2 games thus far. Then he has to show something down there to be considered.
  13. A big thanks but NO Thanks. A Very Good player, but not on our NEED list. We have enough midfielders to field 2 teams. (when they are all up and running). We still have Blease Gysberts & Tapscott yet to come. maybe Tapscott is homesick? He is Trenners best mate, Jamar ex SA is out of contract (end of the year) We dont need Thompson, we really need a big strong marking forward. Can they use Newton,Meeson,Miller, Bell, Maric ?? I doubt that. In the next year or two, we lose Junior & Bruce. We will have them covered. Is is older than Luke Ball, I cant see MFC doing a backflip on youth. Edit: I forgot to throw Rivers into the mix. cant wait for Free Trade to kick in, All our young guns will be 'rumoured' to want out

  15. Its full of cobwebs. Its been awhile since it was last played. Should be back to full strength against the Tigs,
  16. They probably trying to get some stamia into his game. By having him roam around he doesnt have to worry about beating a stronger bodied player. In time, this will change, hopefully,he'll be our go to man, up forward. Why didnt Simpson and Moore play? Any updates on those 2? I am very interested in Scott Simpson (ex Cat) KC: Thanks for the updates, couldnt get there to see the game.

ME!! Just needed the No2 jumper for the finishing touch. (no disrespect to Jonesy intended)
  18. All the best Jimmy. These tumors just havent realised they have met their match. They will give up soon. Keep up the faith.
  19. wolfy' date='11 April 2010 - 06:36 PM' Another 1st half with only one goal. I know the win was great and all that, but it was against another winless side. Throw Watts in at the deep end and let him sink or swim. If he's up to it he will show it. If not, move him on. I can understand your frustration, you are NOT alone. BUT Watts and Co really need to show something at Casey before they get into the seniors. Make them ALL earn a selection, the same applies for keeping a spot in the 1sts. He probably need 1/2 dozen good games on end. IF he comes back before he shows more than 2 good games, if he doesnt fire in the 1sts, he will be canned for being a spud No1 draft.
  20. I thought the umps did a good job today. If anything, a couple of times they seemed to be looking for something to pay a free kick for,but in the main a thumbs up from me.
  21. We are still on the bend, its a loooooong bend at that. Good signs that they didnt roll over,BUT the crows were hamstrung on their bench for rotations. The game still had to be won, they came through with the goods.
