  1. I was shocked to hear the bad news Terrible tragedy. my thoughts also go to Aussie, family and friends. I never meet him, but seemed like a ' larger than life ' personality His memory will last forever. (and my memory of the man) Ps: My sympathy also to Demon Hill. May they both rest in peace.
  2. Have to agree 100% with your comments. Webber doesnt seem to be getting total support from Red Bull Vettell is their man, I guess you can justify that, because he is a lot younger Just disappointing for Webber he couldnt do better in qualifying. Having said all that, finishing 3rd is still a very fair effort. If he thinks he is getting a raw deal driving for Red Bull he will have to weigh up his options. If he does get an offer from another team, he still has to compete against Vettell He may be worse off. Be interesting too see how it pans out.
  3. Dylan Grimes David Astbury Richmond : Both drafted last year
  4. Scott Simpson -- I was tracking earlier this year As a possible to be a rookie for 2011. Apart from getting rubbed out for burying a guy in a tackle in a Casey Game this year. (still digging out body parts) Didnt do a lot to impress. I thought maybe they put him under wraps as not to draw too much attention from other clubs. Now reflecting back, not sure if he warrants a rookie spot. Big strong , the type we need up front. Still young enough With Miller gone, Maybe he could be the hard guy we want in the forward setup http://www.footypost.com.au/geelong/players/scott-simpson
  5. http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8138748 Australias' best chance since Allan Jones
  6. Does anyone know of anylocal players who aren't in the mainstream (national draft) and who should / could be considered to be a rookie listed Demon? Perhaps the next Podsiadly or Barlow? I came across a youngish full forward that hasn't drawn a lot of mention anywhere. Grant Weeks, 22 yro, plays in the Bendigo League, Kicked 157 goals this year. We have 5 spots on our rookie list, might be worth a punt?
  7. Agree with your comments, but our hit rate with successful Fathers/Sons isnt great. The Cordner Family is our most successful. Richie / Ken Emselle was one I was waiting for somebody to get. Here's 2 more John Lord / John Lord Jr Barry Bourke / Darren Bourke Darren played a few games in the 2nds, before transferring to St.Kilda.Played seniors there.
  8. Nice work! I just checked it out. You have a few I didnt know. Good luck completing your list. Pretty educated lot around here! I'm sure nobody cheated. Ok hands up if ya cheated??
  9. As i remember he was known as Robert "Tassie" Johnson. No relation to the famous Bob Johnsons. A solid Fullback, a superb kick (Kicks-ins using a Dropkick)
  10. Well done to everyone... Prof listed the most There are a few I had forgotten about. But I can think of at least 2 more combinations. I'll hold off naming them, somebody may list who they are.
  11. Now to fill in some time while we wait for our draft choices..... In light of the fact it now seems likely that Jack Viney will play with MFC. Name some others that were associated with the Dees? 1: Can be a father that played VFL/AFL for another team and son played for MFC or father played for MFC and his son played elsewhere. 2: Must be based on some facts -- proof games played. - Thats it. As a added bonus ,do you know the jumper number they wore when they played? I can think of about a dozen. But see how you go.
  12. A record number of stolen cars were recovered from the MCG Car Park and surrounding areas on GF Day.
  13. You got my vote for the gutiest post for 2010! Just wait til the real Regleg finds out you hijacked his account Nice try Vossy, nearly fell for it.
  14. Not sure what they have planned, I did try to find out,but came up blank. Sure something offical will be announced soon. Good luck in the granny
  15. The last week of Supercoach and Dreamteam. Cam Schwab commented earlier in the year, how well Melbourne supporters were doing. Melbourne has one of the lowest numbers in both forms of the games, but were are doing very well. We are sitting 2nd (team supported) in both fanasty games, backing up the compliment he paid that Demon Supporters knew their football. Its probably not everyones cup of tea, but maybe next year we can increase our numbers. (I;m putting me in the as beginners luck category) This is my 1st year, I got talked into trying it,up til now I couldnt be bothered with it. but have enjoyed matching wits etc with others. I just bombed out in Supercoach, missed the GF by 48 pts. (Ryan O'Keefe (swans) owes me bigtime) But have marched into The GF in Dreamteam in my League, and a good chance to bring home the Silverware, (hoping). I was wondering if anyone else in their leagues, have a chance to hold up the cup? If so, good luck. Lets bring home the bacon Go Dees!

  17. Senior Listed 1: Daniel Bell Turns 25 early next year. During this years NAB Cup looked to be about to have a good year. That was 'til the shoulder reco, I think that really killed any chance he had to be retained. 2:Brad Miller Gave it his best shot, but his best just wasnt enough. Wish every player had his endeavour. Rookies: 1: John Meeson Due to injury was lucky to have survived as long as he has. 2:Michael Newton Turns 23 next year, has been on the list for 5 years, really hasnt done enough. We have only seen glimpses of his best. But should make way and free up a place on the rookie list. Players that should come under review. 1:Kyle Cheney A good backup for back pocket small. Needs to keep improving. 2:Addam Maric Played well in his only game this year. I thought did enough to get another game. But wouldnt be surprised if they cut him. 3: Paul Johnson Probably will be retained. If he can stay fit,he may just step up another notch. For now, a handy depth player. 4:Rhys Healey Still only 20,hasnt had much luck so far. 5: Daniel Hughes Another hard luck story due to injuries.Been around a long time. 5: Jake Spencer Queensland lad. With Jamar fit and firing, Gawn earmarked as the next best thing. Along with Fitzpatrick pinch hitting in the ruck and forward in the near future, I wouldnt be surprised to see him return home. With the draft this year, I am willing to hold on to the others on the current list. All are young, and have time on their side. We have put time into these players. If we cut most of them,we start from scratch, may end up down the same path. All good sides need depth players, we have a few that have been in and out of the team. Some need more that 2 -3 years to show what they have. Career Pending: Junior , I hope it's his call, but wouldnt be surprised to he decided to hang up the boots. But deep down, I think he will go around next year, Cam Bruce, same as Junior.
  18. And WHO was that masked person refusing people entry to the ground ??
  19. Thats a bit poor.... cant remember who the magpie was? Probably the one with a leg missing (most do) So therefore was on its last leg(s) anyway There's heaps flying around, maybe one of its mates has a long memory LOL Noel McMahen nearly buried Lou Richards at he 'G' (Lou took a dive) There is a funny story on that incident.
  20. Cant deny / confirm being a morgue at the "G" The US troops used the ground during the war, maybe they set up a temp morgue. There used to be one where 'Fed Square' is located. The site of Federation Square has had a variety of former uses. The Gas and Fuel Buildings, Jolimont Yard and the Princes Bridge railway station were the immediate predecessors, though in the nineteenth century there was a morgue on the site. The result of an international design competition held in 1997 that received 177 entries, Federation Square was designed by Don Bates and Peter Davidson of Lab Architecture Studio. Hoping that doesnt confuse matters.
  21. Also other grounds have them as well he's marked it in the 'dead' pocket.
  22. 1st thought,ok maybe I could live with the interchange being modified,Subs seemed like the best, kinda like when it was just a 19th and 20th man. BUT then I wondered what do they do about the blood rule.??? A team has used all their subs, and hit a interchange limit, so suddenly those players that can come back on? some are now exempt cause 2 players have blood gushing everywhere. Another farce in the making. If they go down this road, I hope the MFC stock up on those fake movie blood capsules, (fake blood steaming from mouth) Want to get sent off for the blood rule, bite down on a capsule, off ya come. Damn rule book will be bigger than a phone book soon.
  23. It was built pre olympic games era.... '56. Only because all the times we BURIED Collingwood.
  24. Dont get me started on rule changes. Leave the damn game alone, why they need to change /add new rules every year is plain stupidity. More knee jerk solutions to the real core of the problem. Goal umpires making blatant mistakes, as do field umpires. Human error, its a part of life. Its been like that since day dot. I'll be glad to see the back of Anderson and his cronies. Penalise a player trying to get the ball, then its pile on top of him so he is pinned and he gets penalised, now they feel the need to alter the rule for the very same problem they tried to fix. and on it goes. Maybe we can get FIFA to take control, before its totally ruined.
