I wont be booing. He made his bed let him sleep in it. The best way of revenge is on the scoreboard. Hopefully in a few years time, finals success,he'll be then left pondering. Just hope Moloney / Sylvia let him know all about getting a kick.

How do you teach someone how to kick? Obviously there are many more elements to it at the elite level- but why do we still have forwards who can't kick accurately? Why does any club have forwards who can't kick accurately for that matter? ------------------------------------------- Technique and or a mental thing. Some players will hardly ever miss on the training track. But in the heat of the moment for whatever reason they will murder the easliest of set shots, others have the knack of 'slotting' goals from anywhere. Some will improve over time... others, you shut your eyes and pray when they line up for goal. Its just a fact of life, Some are proven reliable goal kickers.

Anyhow I am an Essendon supporter and we are blessed with a few blockbusters every year. Of course ANZAC day being the most recognisable of all. You guys have a good one with Queens B'day. Its bound to happen one day. Shopping centers petrol stations etc all used to be closed. From demand our lifestyle changes. From a Melbourne point of view I'd have every blockbuster day for the MFC. (Like c'wood seem to hog everything) but in their defence they PULL the crowds. Is it fair only certain clubs get blockbusters? I dont think so. Now I am going to go in from 'left field' here. We have the Queens Birthday, I wouldnt what to lose that. So an alternative... Alternate Teams each season on Good Friday.so everyone gets a shot. Maybe as a 'softer' to get a twilight game through the red tape, Part proceeds go to the Royal Childrens appeal. Club Sponsers, Teams ..donate X $$ for every goal scored. (or something similar)

Dont see many 'hemmies' on the road these days. I may just need to get out more. Either way . a VALIANT effort.

A local analseptic is probably another option But when in doubt seek a professionsal opinion Eliminate bum steers

. For example, Scully will be much more dangerous when his teammates shepherd or block for him in close, when they know to give him more than one option for handballing it out (because it seems that he won't take an option that's bad), when they provide short options rather than long options for his kicking, etc etc. Exactly.. We are on the same page

Everyone has had a go at team selections, skills, game plans etc but havent touched on 'general play' What we need is more RUN - all over the ground This is one of the areas I'll be looking for once the season kicks off. We need to run to support a player with the ball (backing up) Run to create overlaps. Run to space to create options Run to man up And is it just me but over the years we seem to concede the oppositon the easy short kicks to an unmarked player between 1/2 back to 1/2 forward. We seem happy to stand off 20 metres away, rather than stand the man. Fiercer tackling is another issue, tackle to stop, and make them feel like they have been tackled. McKenzie showed he executes tackles superbly. (NAB Ess game) We have young legs, I want to see them run more. 'The Fire Has Started' - lets set the ground alight.

Essendon vs Melbourne 2010 NAB Challenge h/lights
DeeVoted replied to DemonDan...'s topic in Melbourne Demons
You are RIGHT! My mistake it WAS the 4th Qtr. I can live with the silly mistakes /bad descisions, missed easy shots for goal during a game. (up to a point of course) Those can be worked on. What makes the difference, is a play like the one we touched on. Gives us (supporters) an insight on what is possible. The players gain confidence, before you know it it becomes more regular. If they can do it once, they can do it more often. If you are looking for positives... I'm not letting that piece go by. Sheer brillance. Trengove was it?? He is fast becoming my fav player. -

Agreed! I was hoping we could get Dylan Grimes to join his brother. But it didnt work out that way. The club targeted other players before him. He is a diehard Melb supporter, ended up with the Tigers, He'll make the most of his situation.

Scary... shares / the stock market May start sleeping with the light on. :[

This has disaster written all over it. I'll address 3 issues. Team A drafts 3 young 'guns' 1 of the 3 barracked for that team. (If you go through all the club lists, you;ll be struggling to find 3 or more that actually ended up playing for a team he supported) We have Grimes / Moloney... Eventually, even after they had dreamed of playing for a club they barracked for, they ended up elsewhere. They make new mates and once settled their favorite team,is just a soft spot. Its now a past memory. Nothing new here. Loyality DEAD. 2: Player A gets drafted just by sheer luck, its his club of choice. So from 18 to 26 he's happy, At 26 most players are at their peak. Guess what... served 8 years, can go anywhere he likes. Manager says Team X has made an offer ..2-3 times what your club came up with. Player says I'll happy,I'm in the mix to captain the team I barrack for. manager says to him you have had 8 years playing for 'your' team, you have been one of a very few.BUT now is the time to cash in. Set yourself up for life. Player sees his point. Byeee Free Trade working. 3: Players A-B-C from club y have been 'sponsored' since they were 24. They are now 30,Their time is coming to an end. They played finals most years, and were well looked after. The club /sponsors get together, players A-B-C find themselves on the outer. But its freed up all this player payment. So club y with a bank load of money, start throwing money at 'targeted' ace players from other clubs. If club Z cant match the offer. See Loyality. We all know 'tanking' and payments 'under the table' were just a myth. Visygate. Its a turkey shoot now.

2010 will mark the return of the Dees home ground advantage. 5 years ago we hardly ever lost at the G and last year the players began to love it again late in the season, playing by far their best footy on the hallowed turf. I really hope we pack the 'G' it would really give Scully & Trengove and others a real boast.

2 wins of the 1st 6 games should be the minimum. More is a bonus.. I expect 8 wins for the year. That leaves 6 more wins to go for season. I expect blowouts. I also expect some -should haves if only I expect & demand a much better season next year. We are capable of pushing most teams this year. A lot depends on our injuries throughout the year,
-
I dont know if you have been down at training, but their kicking - handball skills look pretty good to me. Always room for improvement Pack marking in contests to me seem an issue. Match day is completely different totally. Panic inexperience,or just trying too hard, makes mistakes look a lot worse. Give them time,we have some young guns its just going to take awhile. If by years end there is no signs of improvement, then panic

For what its worth.. my 2 cents. I have never taken Fosters' / NAB cups too serious. Its a bonus to make the finals, just to give us more TV exposure. Our situation right now is trying to find the best lineup, who looks like stepping up etc. Getting smashed by Freo wasnt ideal, but I put it down to a bad day. Against Ess on Sat, IF they had nailed a few early goals, instead of missing gettables,WE may have frightened the life out of them.We ended up playing catchup footy. And I thought we held our own for most of the game. I still think we will hit 30000 members.

Daniher tried to address our forward line problem. He seen it coming. Remember he brought in Bate Dunn Newton? or was it Smith, (Memory lapse) Miller has his shortfalls just isnt going to kick enough goals up forward. His strong points are 1: Presents 2: Doesnt shirk a contest 3: Is tough. Jamar (After the Ess game) has made No1 ruck his own. Made easlier with most of the others injured. He cant be everywhere at once, but IF PJ gets fit,or IF Spencer can at least hold their own for a QTR, I wouldnt mind seeing Jamar have a spell up forward,to add some height. He proved he can take a pack mark and kick goals. Have him rest? up there for a bit. When Watts is ready, I can see him having the same problem as Jurrah. The better fullbacks are just going to 'muscle' them off balance. For the time being, both are probably better suited up the ground. When both get bulked up some more, and get games into them, stay fit. We WILL have a forward line. Until then we need to juggle a few up there.
-
Starting to turn into a Miller flame. So get back on topic. Which was... Robbo for another year? to help the young guys. If you didnt think so. who or what are the best options up forward etc etc I was looking for positives. Our forward line is weak, mainly through inexperience. Miller and Newton havent shown the same goalkicking ability No doubting they are trying, but they arent cutting it atm. But thats only my option. Ask yourself who have we got that another team would select to play in their forward setup, if you struggle, then maybe Robbo should have stayed on. If you disagree, suggest a forward line thats going to work.

The combimed Demon forum footy team, pretty hard to go past the premiers! But somebody bought up the salary cap (party poopers) SO...... Next Best. B: MCDONALD FRAWLEY WARNOCK HB:RIVERS GARLAND MACDONALD C: TRENGOVE GRIMES MORTON HF DAVEY BATE PETTERD FF: SYLVIA GREEN WONAEAMIRRI FOLL: JAMAR MOLONEY JONES IC: SCULLY SPENCER JURRAH STRAUSS I'd have McKenzie down back but for now he's stuck on the rookie list.

I always thought the best way to build a side was key positions FF to FB,,then work from there. But we havent had that luxury. The backline is pretty much settled,Bailey seems to have the amo to start throwing a few around in the midfield. I'm sure he will have that settled very soon. Then its our forwards. Probably Green looks the best optionat FF. Unless one of the talls starts to grab some contested marks. I expect the new guys to be in and out. Its just going to take time, injuries play a big part. Just hope Davey isnt down the back. He is another avenue to goal. Baileys' on the big bucks,be interesting to see how it pans out.

Forum Footy Match - another day, another premiership

So far Robbo gets the nod. But the clock cant be turned back. So far all the comments I cant disagree with. We all have a good idea what we need, who we dont need. Probably never know what the club offered Robbo, but I would have told him,his playing days are numbered, and if a young forward can step up, Robbo could expect to move aside then help out at Casey. I think he would have (I like too think) he would have offered to help anyway he could. Miller is never going to be a threat, just seems he hasnt the footy 'smarts'. On Sat he marked 35 mtrs out, then for whatever reason shot off a handball to a teammate standing next to him,who was just about on the boundardy line. (he got buried) Not sure how he has stayed on the list this long. But for now we have to live with it. I had hoped he could be a target up forward. Newtown tries hard, but hasnt got the strength. His shots at goal is a major concern for someone that has been earmarked as a KPP. What he needs to do in turn in a few 'blinders' at Casey. (i cant see that happening either) I am really at a loss how the 2 of them have stayed on the list this long. Martin maybe Garland can be switched to FF / CHF depending on matchups. But Bailey has to bite the bullet and take a tall-back from defence and try something up forward (Garland?). To win games we have to kick goals, then the opposition gets out of their comfort zone, has to come up with something to stop us kicking goals, As it has been its been our defence trying to stop the slaughter. When our midfield settles, it will make it easlier to play up forward with 'quality'ball coming in. Thats going to take a bit of time. Leading forward that run down the guts, and into space help too.Not standing flat footed. Hughes wont make it,I have had an eye on him for a few years, back even to his Sandy days.he hasnt stepped up. I dont think he will. Fitzpatrick might be ok in time, (crystal ball is in for repairs). Morton needs to bulk up,Has the talent. (and a sore knee) All the others are medium to small forwards. Any wonder Watts has a sore back,he;s carrying the hopes of a whole forward setup Keep an eye on Simpson (x Geelong) & Moore at Casey. Maybe worth a look at for drafting next year.
