  1. I don't think Trengove will come in - but if he doesn't come in this week, with the situation as it is, then it's a certainty that he's played his last game for the Dees and at AFL level.
  2. It's a start! Will be great to see these players gradually come back over the coming month or so.
  3. I doubt we'll make too many more changes than necessary. Hogan/Garlett for Viney/Bugg. The Hunt forward experiment didn't work, so he goes back, and if Hogan comes in, same story for Tommy Mac. Presumably then, at least one of Wagner or White go out as well, which would open a place for Kennedy-Harris in the mids. If Garlett comes back in, can't see Kent or Kennedy getting a run. Losing all of Salem/Jones/Viney/Tyson ... just not possible.
  4. Thought there'd be some reduction for his remorse, guilty plea and apology. Maybe there is, but if so, that's a fair whack under the circumstances.
  5. Probably one match too early for Smith, he's missed a lot of footy. Against that, probably more upside than Wagner or White, so might as well start investing in him. Surely we're going to have to move Lewis onto the ball.
  6. Not to mention, Tyson, especially of late, has been more than handy around the stoppages, as was Salem.
  7. Carlton have beaten both Sydney and GWS this year, and a more inexperienced version of their current team took care of us late last year when we were supposed to be pushing for a place in the 8. Nothing wrong with acknowledging the opposition's strengths.
  8. When you have a dozen or so out, yes, there aren't many left. If you're looking for the best 4 or 5 Casey players you'll find them in the firsts.
  9. Watch his interview on the club site. It's not fitness per se, it's coping with the physical pressure, the body on body. 10 weeks out, and no matter how much fitness you can maintain, you still need to build back up to that.
  10. Think they'll make minimal changes. If Hogan and Garlett can come in, that's a start, and would be 2 in for 2 out (Viney/Bugg). Then take it from there, but on VFL form, next cab off the rank would be JKH.
  11. Wonder if the story of this year for us isn't going to be injuries to key players for key periods. There's only so much you can do.
  12. Not blaming the scheduling in isolation, but 4 games in 18 days, including one in Perth? Just nothing there that would have helped. Feel like we left it all out on the park in Perth last weekend, and not enough foot soldiers left. Fringe players were exposed tonight, some more than others. A few positives, and even some positives amongst the negatives, but time to move on from this one. We get a decent break to refresh and rebuild, hopefully can get some players back to push through the last part of the season.
  13. Swans look impressive, getting their mojo back. The depth runs deep with them. Out of all the teams we've played this year, they look a class above. Wouldn't rule them out come September. On the other hand, as it has been all year, our weakness is our last handful of players picked: Bugg, Melksham, ANB, Harmes all mostly invisible, and/or poor with/around the ball. Stretch hasn't touched it much either, but at least his disposals generally get to where they're meant to be going. Can't see us getting out of this. Jones, Garlett, Watts, Hogan out, and the rest of them playing their 4th match in 18 games. There's a limit.
  14. Yes, because lord forbid we should show respect, compassion and understanding to people who aren't cis-gender, straight, neurotypical white males.
  15. If we can win this without Hogan, Jones, Watts and Garlett, they can just give us the flag straight away, because when they come back ... look out. Suspect that it'll be a step too far, especially on the back of this run of 6 day breaks and matches away.
  16. Hunt seems to have ended up forward against WC, so perhaps it's a future role for him. Nothing to say he'll spend his career as a back, though we do reap the benefits of his rebound runs.
  17. So, just a normal game then.
  18. We'd need to get close to our best team on the park in the run into the finals, and then be able to keep them there.
  19. Except that they're not all out. Hogan due back in a week or two, Watts this week, and we don't know that Viney or Garlett will be out at all.
  20. Fabulous win, one for the ages. Next week will be interesting. Only 6 days, and injury cloud over Viney, Salem and Garlett. Watts back in, but for the rest, getting to be a war of attrition.
  21. Hard to see what more he can do to set the world alight when the coach describes him as 'the pick of the players'.
  22. I don't know that anyone's defending him per se. But people are defending his right to do/say what he wants - whether or not anyone likes it. The only thing I don't get in all this, is why people keep engaging with someone who they don't want to engage with. Just block him. Problem solved.
