  1. All things being equal, 08 should always have been a better year than 07. I can't see any reason why this wouldn't be the case - the old players you mentioned tend to be fringe-types (Brown, Ward, Holland), while many of our younger players will be more experienced in 08 (Bate, Jones, Dunn, et al.).
  2. Indeed - as a forward pocket, it's tough to create rebound out of your 50 unless you're running the wrong way.
  3. Fair point. Regarding Robbo, I suggest that - considering Robertson's age and role - the value we're offered for him in a trade will probably be less than what he's worth to us right now.
  4. Even if Pickett played a blinder next week, what's the point in keeping him? He won't be around for our next flag, and isn't a key part of the side right now. Thus, I conclude that it's a waste of space.
  5. Over the past 4-5 years it's been worse than ND's. That'd be acceptable if EFC were about to unleash and take a flag, but they're nowhere near it - they've been relying on older stars to carry them this season. A players survey indicates that Sheedy isn't a good communicator, and there have been criticisms about the list management/youth development considering their predicament now. :|
  6. Frawley might have the height, but he doesn't play like a tall - he's 18 and in his first year of footy.
  7. Brown is old. We're not going to win a flag next year. If we do, Brown won't be a major contributor. There's little point in holding onto him IMHO.
  8. Gill also went to the Roos (or some other Club), and didn't get a game there either. I think Gill's is a great story, but I hardly see how this has anything to do with why we haven't had a flag.
  9. I don't see 12+ of our starting 22 there. I'd say around 8-9. Still huge though.
  10. Can't agree with this. As for the rest, I didn't see the game.
  11. Pretty small backline. Frawley's not in my 'best' 25 either, but I'd be playing him now.
  12. Seems a silly thing to say. Who were these media personalities?
  13. The question for me is how the list is going to cope with Hird, Lucas, Lloyd, Fletcher and co. moving on. None of them are spring chickens.
  14. Talking of thinking logically, your reasoning for barring first round pikcs can be simply copy/pasted in order to argue against trading any other pick (which you're okay with).
  15. I think Jones has been a great find, and at his age he's still got plenty of room for improvement. Hopefully that improvement consists of improving his efficiency, because he could be a gun.
  16. Hawthorn did the same, and ended up with Clarkson. Right now, I imagine they're happy with their decision to ignore the 'proven' applicants, as well as those who had played for the Club. I don't know who Bailey is. However, Bailey's had the ultimate success as an assistant Coach with premiership teams at Essendon and Port. Good luck to him.
  17. I think Clubs should be free to trade first round picks if they wish.
  18. Apparently Bate got a corked thigh, but came back on and played deep.
  19. Plenty of people have far more to worry about in terms of frustrating lives, and don't find themselves in this sort of trouble. On the other hand, some do...I'm not hanging the guy, but that's a pathetic excuse. Oh, so he didn't? I thought 'blue' was code for fight.
  20. Eh? What exactly are you upset about? "He's contracted and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be around," Cameron said. "It's as simple as that. We honour our contracts. He has been injured and hasn't been able to show his wares properly. So, hopefully, he can have a full pre-season and get back somewhere near his best." Do you want Yze delisted, with his contract paid out? I take it you don't. Thus, I fail to see why you're making a mountain out of this particular molehill. We certainly didn't say that Yze would definitely not be traded or whatever.
