  1. Considering the talk on these forums regarding Neaves, I was a bit surprised too. However, once he was delisted the view seemed to be that Neaves was a bit slow around the ground etc - remind you of anyone? I haven't seen much of Neaves, and that was only on ABC TV, but I thought we might have kept him on in '08 as our third year rookie. I'd like us to rookie another young tall too.
  2. Plenty of AFL rucks have come of the rookie list, and it makes sense since they generally take a while to develop.
  3. CAC has been quoted as stating we'll offer Adelaide our 3rd round pick, yeah. Jamar worth more than a 3rd round pick? Apparently so. I guess ruckman take a while to develop, and this year's draft is apparently 'weak'.
  4. So he's definitely a Tiger, eh? I thought he was definitely going #2? Indeed
  5. No, but as others have said, Richmond has pick number one in the PSD.
  6. Ferguson could be 30 years old, and some people on here would still be stating that with a 'good pre-season in the gym' he'll add some bulk'.
  7. Welcome to the interweb. ...and we won't see anything if that's the case
  8. What's the point? I find it unlikely he'll be part of our next Premiership team, so lets use that list spot for someone else.
  9. Not too many, but providing he continues to improve that's okay. Too early to judge whether he'll be a player or not IMO.
  10. How is it plenty? White will be gone soon, so that leaves three. Neither PJ, Jamar, or Meesen have established themselves as a #2 ruck, let alone a first ruck.
  11. You're more likely to die in a plane crash or a spider bite than a drug-related death? Haha.
  12. Too old. Seriously, why would we do this instead of picking up a young kid? I don't mean to offend, but I just find some of the attitudes mind-boggling.
  13. It sounds like Bailey will look to engage the players, so that's a good thing. Bailey's talked about including them in discussions etc, rather than treating them like children.
  14. I can see where you were coming from, but if we were in their shoes I would have wanted our Board/management to do whatever it takes to get a decent outcome for our Club. As you said, Victory are not responsible for the Judd situation. I find it a little ironic that some are on the one hand talking about the fact we've been around 150 years compared to the upstart Victory, and yet then blame Victory because our training facilities were a little delayed. We've had 150 years...
  15. What? ;o I would imagine passing over on Sheedy was all to do with the fact that Bailey was considered the better man for the job. Compare the talk of Bailey and his emphasis on teaching with Sheedy's youth development/list management, and the apparently player/Coach communication problems (in a Club survey cited by Essendon CEO or Board member).
  16. Expecting kids in their first season to hold down KPPs in a premiership team is unrealistic IMHO.
  17. Meesen's only 21, so he's worth a punt at that cost.
  18. I think the Mahoney signing was announced a little while ago - I'm pretty sure I read it on here previously. He was a 'journeyman' AFL player picked up by Port in 2004 (from Collingwood?) as a back-up player. He ended up playing in their premiership side.
  19. I don't see us as a legit chance in '08, and thought the same about '07 before the start of the season. Sure, in some areas we've improved on where we're at on '06, with a few younger guys stepping up. However, so many of our best squad are still very inexperienced, and we haven't rectified the problems in our list.
  20. If we can improve our list, and Robertson can find three years somewhere else, it's probably a win/win. I don't think we're legit flag chances in the next couple of years anyway, so losing Robertson for some short-term pain is justifiable if it brings with it some chance of gain in the longer term. It's silly not to try and get as many years out of AFL footy as possible when it's your job. I imagine that after their football careers are over, a very high percentage of players will never make anywhere near the money that they were on when playing AFL.
  21. Anyone know how much of the salary cap we pay? I would have thought we were near the mark by now.
