  1. I'm sure players that can't even make our 22 are reaaaaaaaaaal effective trade bait. Brown, Holland, Bizzell, and Ward aren't particularly good players - and they'll all be the wrong side of 30. Yze and Pickett are also coming to the end. That leaves PJ and Jamar, our second and third rucks. Neaves isn't getting first ruck at Sandy over those guys, so even if he gets promoted he'll still be developing. I think that, should we delist one of PJ/Jamar, we'll need to be picking someone up who can ruck at AFL level. Otherwise we're putting our fate in the hands of the fitness of White and one of PJ/Jamar. Who rucks if one of those goes down? The green Neaves? What about after that? Miller, CJ, and to some extent Ferg perhaps have value. However, we obviously don't rate them too highly if they can't get a regular gig in an injury-decimated cellar-dweller team. Who are we going to get in return? Unlikely to nab someone that's going to make a big impact or be much better... Effective trade bait? To me, that automatically makes me think of non-KPP players, as with our list I don't think we can or are able to trade away KPP players. It also makes me think of guys who are older than the McLean/Bate era, which is where I feel our serous flag aspirations lie. Who fits that criteria? Bruce, TJ, Green (albeit younger than the former two), and maybe Robertson. I'd be looking for younger players who are going to be around for the McLean/Bate era, and who can play roles that we lack players for.
  2. Agree - if you're old and you're not in the best team, you're in trouble regardless.

I think it was a very reasonable comment.
  4. There was an article online - presumably in an Adelaide paper - about Nathan Brown during the week before the Port game. He mentioned that he'd like to reunite with 'his mate Walsh' and play with him, but seemed to indicate that he wasn't quite done at AFL level.
  5. So we'll have Nathan Brown and who as our permanent small forwards?
  6. Doesn't look like he wants to be a fitness coach.
  7. I don't know much about Summers. However, as a 23 year old you're definitely closer to where you're going to be as a footballer rather than when you're 17. Less risky than picking up a kid, but less upside/potential I guess. Not sure what you mean by that. We have elevated Bode - that means there's a spot on the rookie list. Do you mean to say that Bode is a simialr player and thus picking up Summers would be pointless? Did he play for Geelong?
  8. Williams would be one. I don't know enough about what the assistants have done as head Coaches in various other leagues (if they've coached at all).
  9. No it wasn't. He said that the message gets old after a while, and Sheedy should not get recontracted. Doesn't mean Lyon thinks he's no good. In fact, 'all over the media' recently he's been saying the complete opposite.
  10. Can't agree. I think Neitz has at least one more year in him.
  11. Doesn't matter where they're listed in the paper. Doubt Robbo will play too far out, given that he seems unfit.
  12. I'm sure he'll be crying himself to sleep over that <_<
  13. Source: http://afl.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArti...px?newsId=48403 I think Bruce and Sylvia are out. I read that Bruce will be miss two with the hamstring injury.
  14. I can think of a couple of reasons - Carroll regularly takes a key position (FB), while Bizz more often takes the third tall. Carroll is far younger than Bizz, mid-20's versus wrong side of 30. Carroll has played senior footy regularly in recent times, whereas Bizz hasn't.
  15. Last year Pickett wasn't terrible, but he wasn't amazing either. He was quite good for a period from early-ish on in the season until reasonably late (a few weeks before he got injured).
  16. Better than re-hashing the merits of some assistant coaches, based on what they look like and how well they played footy, because a newspaper article quotes one of their mates as saying they're 'ready to step up'
  17. $7 in a two-horse race? Wow.
  18. It's easier to create avenues to goal than it is to win games when you don't get the ball in the first place.
  19. A++++ post. Will read again.
